So first time taking time to post on these forums (read them a fair bit though) and I was wondering...

While I have seen the images and such of the Masterwork Tevinter Longsword schematic and seen discussion regarding it, which ended at the conclusion that it is an rng drop as many things are, I was wondering if anybody has obtained it as a legitimate rng drop from farming or dumb luck? Because I have spend an obscene amount of time farming the cradle, gotten 5/6 of the rng related superior  tier 3 armor schematics, a number of superior headgear schematics, all or close to all masterwork tier 3 attachment schematics (that are rng drops that is), and possibly a masterwork tier 3 weapon (though I think all the ones I have are static ones but could be wrong). I believe I have nearly all or possibly all "normal" tier 3 schematics. Literally all I want now is the Masterwork Tevinter Longsword so my champion can have a proper custom sword. Caliban is fine and dandy but I would like to forge my own. Serpent's Rage is functionally sufficient, likely even superior, but fashion matters in this game to me which is why I farmed up the Superior Battlemaster Mail for that heavy armor look.Yet this sword eludes me so so so many cradle runs later. So can anybody 100% confirm it is legitimately obtainable via farming and not just erroneously excluded from loot tables for some reason? Because while I have seen images it is always possible they were added via a cheat engine. And if so how long did it take you to obtain if farmed?

TL;DR: Has anybody obtained the Masterwork Tevinter Longsword schematic as a legitimate rng drop? And if so how long did it take?

I appreciate any info in this matter.

Longsword schematics are almost mythological in nature in this game. I haven't even seen a regular tier 3 longsword schematic yet over dozens of hours of farming the cradle, let alone a masterwork.axes, staves, two hand weapons all day though. It's actually one of the things that have kept me from playing a shield wielding warrior.  A bit sad because the one hand maces and axes look so tiny and flimsy in this game.

I found the Dwarven Longsword schematic but it is subpar. Looks okay but is a 15 metal damage weapon as opposed to the 17 of the the Serpent's Rage/Griffon Mace/MW Tevinter Longsword which translates to lower damage AND dps. Barely out of Tier 2 damage range tbh. But yes good longsword schematics are basically impossible to find in this game. The good tier 2 one is choice locked and the tier 3 one is rng locked. Meanwhile the tier 3 mace and axe are static, granted one is short list perk only. Sigh.

I spent hours farming, trust me the only one you get this way is the dwarven one. The Tevinter one only via Cheat engine. I guess it's a bug but who knows...

Well glad to know I seem to be FAR from the only one unable to find it. Still it sucks if it really is glitched... I don't want to have to download a cheat engine just for a sword schematic... whoever designed the loot system is this game should be fired... locking schematics behind rng is idiotic in a single player game and when it seems the rng system might just be broken.... sigh. Grinding in single player games is one thing. Harvesting crafting materials all fine and good. Locking masterwork materials and schematics behind rng, requiring absurd amounts of resets to get is not okay, not fun. It takes so much away from the game.

As a small update still no luck. Found what might be the final weapon upgrade to find (Dense Longsword Grip, had seen it many times but it was always the only item in the chest). All I am missing are RNG based masterwork tier 3 weapons and Superior Battlemaster Coat as far as rng farming schematics. Minimal faith left. The good news is dps isn't a concern on my guy (Champion, Vanguard, Sword and Shield aka full turtle mode) so I can always just make the tier 3 Dragon Sword or Dwarven Sword; both crap damage but with a nice hilt get the fashion done. If you miraculously stumble upon the MW Tevinter Longsword let me know; a little confirmation that farming can get it would give me the resolve to farm until I get it.

Edit: Also sorry for double post, just wanted to give the small update and my general conclusion.

You know TC I have been searching so hard for an answer to this question also..and everyone seems to agree the only way to get it is to cheat..and there is another one also, the Split Longsword which I think looks great too...Sucks for me because I have an xbox one and cannot achieve these schematics thru the cheat engine means..or believe me I would..I've spent so much time farming at this point it is ridiculous..it's gotta be glitched other wise people would be finding it...

Have you found a link for the PC cheat?

I found it, it is a cheat engine table. I can't get it to work. I change the schematic to the one I want then when a new area loads (I go back to Haven to craft the sword) the damn schematic reverts back to the schematic it was before I changed it. No one at nexus or cheat engine will tell me what is going on. lol

Yeah I actually ended up trying it myself with no luck. Somebody suggested I might be using the wrong table as apparently the 2.0hotfix version is the one we want. Idk if that helps you, I have not tried it yet.

I got it to work by useing these instructions.

1. Attach Cheat Engine to DA:I
2. Open the Cheat Table
3. Activate the Inventory Editor, the Shop Inventory Editor, and the Infinite Shop Supply
4. Go to the shop and buy a schematic. It will say supply of 1000 but usually it'll still just allow you to buy one. That is fine.
5. Immediately sell the schematic you just bought.
6. In the Shop Editor, it should now be populated with the value under "Item Name".
7. Click the "Change" tickbox and enter in a new schematic, doesn't matter which, I mostly just use this to differentiate which schematic it'll show up as, for easy clarification.
8. Exit the shop menu and enter back in.
9. The schematic should now be available with supply 1000 again. This time it should be actually infinite.
10. DO NOT EXIT the Shop Screen again before finishing at this point.
11. Untick then re-tick "Change" under "Shop Editor" and enter desired schematic.
12. Buy the schematic you want.
13. Rinse and repeat. Exit the shop screen when you are done.
14. Untick the Shop Editor, the Inventory Editor, and Infinite Shop Supply
15. This is important, you have to fast travel somewhere in order to get the inventory to refresh. It can be on the same map, but ideally just go to another map.
16. You should have the new schematics now whenever you go to the Crafting stations.

I have nearly every masterwork T3 schematic the wiki has listed, but this sword is missing (the mortalitasi staff being the other one). Countless hours of Valeska's Watch have been wasted and I don't think those two schematics are obtainable without the cheat engine.

Even the Split Longsword? I didn't thik it dropped either but if you got it then that is some hope at least. But yeah some stuff seems not to drop. Infinitely frustrating.

I found it once, out of 5 full playthroughs... my mage character was the lucky one. can't be sure but I think it was dropped when I killed a generic vint in the wastes. (though it was like 3 pts ago, and I was playing a mage so it wasn't all that important to me at the time).

---edit
actually, I only remember it was dropped by a generic human enemy, I think it was the wastes, and a vint... though I'm less sure about the last two.

No, but it isn't a masterwork (orange schematic). There are some non-masterwork (grey/brown schematics) which I don't have because I didn't want to sacrifice a chest for them. I can't remember if the Split Longsword was ever one of them, sorry.

has anyone noticed that schematics don't seem to drop from enemies anymore? I hadn't been paying attention lately, though I don't recall seeing a single schematic drop from an enemy since my second playthrough. so that could be messing us up, if it is indeed the case, and if some schematics only drop from enemies, and can't be found simply in boxes.

Fascinating... I don't know if I have ever had a random schematic drop from killing an enemy. However if this is the case it would explain a lot. With all due respect to you I would love some other accounts of this happening from people; I don't doubt you per say but in the course of multiple ~100 hour characters details can be mangled a bit. But honestly this would explain a lot if it is true; it could mean that some other top tier schematics people can't seem to find, namely the Lionhead Maul and Masterwork Mortalitasi Staff based on what I have seen. I am going to start a 2H Templar file soon; I will pay careful attention to if I get schematics from enemies at all. It is an interesting possibility I had not considered.

I've played for almost a couple hundred hours in SP and not just farming..never seen a schematic drop from an enemy.

I don't believe I have either over probably 200-250 hours. But I prefer to not discount the idea immediately. I could just have **** luck or they could be super uncommon. I don't think they drop schematics but I can't say it for 100% based on just me. Your input makes it seem more likely that they do not drop but once again I will not entirely dismiss the possibility if he says it happened. He could be remembering wrong of course. But at this point I am open to new ideas haha.

like I said I've done 5 PTs, and I'm working on #6, I don't think I've seen a schematic drop from an enemy since my 2nd playthrough. iirc, in my first playthrough something like 5 drops from human/elven combatants, mostly armor, and I think one was a masterwork, 2nd think it was 3 or so. and I wasn't farming till playthrough 4 or so, & I've got about 100-120 hours per pt. so like 520 hours maybe 300 or so in combat.

I have 525 hours on this game and I honestly haven't seen many of the schematics that exist in the game drop for me. I didn't believe that Tevinter longsword existed until I used cheat engine for the first time on playthough 7 or 8. Honestly tying so many top tier schematics to rng seems ridiculous to me and I'm glad I found a way to override this with the cheat engine.

The cheat engine solves the issue yes. Still I hate having to use a cheat engine... it hurts my experience. Not as much as having to farm for schematics but still. That and sometimes it can be... a tad twitchy but still.

I guess I could be wrong, but I remember a few encounters quite clearly. I remember my first character getting a tier 3 masterwork battlemaster armor schematic in the wastes off a red Templar I had just killed, can't be sure which one as it just states loot, not Templar marksman loot, or Templar footman loot. though, unless I'm mistaken about something else, schematics don't drop from critters (as in ribcage containers), don't know if it happens on undead, but as they drop loot backpacks like normal human-ish enemies. maybe patch 2 had something to do with it, as like I said earlier, I stopped getting schematic drops during or after pt #2. I just don't know anymore, as somethings seem to work for some and not for others. or am I just going insane? someone tell me I'm not going crazy...

Sadly this was the only way I was able to actually get the tevinter long sword schematic, never seen it come up in a chest over about 5 - 6 PTs now. Truthfully though, I saw no difference in simply adding the schematic to my inventory over reloading and farming an area over and over and over.
