 Sadly this was the only way I was able to actually get the tevinter long sword schematic, never seen it come up in a chest over about 5 - 6 PTs now. Truthfully though, I saw no difference in simply adding the schematic to my inventory over reloading and farming an area over and over and over.

 

I guess the difference is the temptation to actually add these items pretty early on. With chest farming you need to be at a certain level in order to clear the area and gain access to the chests while cheat engine offers you the schematics at virtually any given time, you can even add them at the vendor in Haven at level 3. Now crafting those items with tier 1 materials will result in lesser versions of them but still they will be vastly superior to whatever item you have access to at the time, not to mention that you can add practically any crafting material at whatever amount to any vendor using the cheat engine. So there is that.

I agree regardless of me being on PC I feel for the console users I used to be on console myself before Inquisition but after my previous PC broke I decided to go for a gaming PC instead of PS4. I also don't really like using the cheat engine myself but right now it appears to be the only way to get any schematic of quality without wasting hours upon hours on farming (seriously I haven't farmed loot for so long even on WoW).

You can farm a 3 tier chest as early as lvl4-6. Just need to get to Valamar.

Really ? I did not know that, regardless nothing beats being able to conveniently add whatever you need to your friendly local vendor and rocking the rest of the game in the best armor and weapons from the start. It is also requires about an hour to add literally the best armor and weapons for everyone including the highest tier crafting materials. I wouldn't do that since the game is easy enough as it is even on nightmare but I understand the temptation.

 Not true, as soon as you get to Valammar in the hinterlands, you can farm the small vase in the corner where the darkspawn alpha appears in the vault room. I've gotten tier 3 items from there as early as level 6-7. It's the same matter of reloading and reloading until something you want comes up. Also , while it comes a little later, as soon as you unlock the exalted plains, there is a chest right next to a ballista on the western ramparts that does the same thing and spawns tier 3 schematics and items. You can have tier 3 items very early in the game, they won't be optimized like you said, but still powerful, thus why I see no real difference in using cheat engine, it is simply more expedient than save scumming/map reloading. Of course I didn't do this in my initial playthrough, I used whatever came along, but it greatly streamlines he game and eliminates the tedium when I can avoid farming Sulevin for hours on end.

   

 

   The game is indeed ****** easy, even when you are wearing crap, though I do get a kick out of non serious playthroughs, where my inquisitor has a tier 3 weapon and armor on as soon as he arrives in the hinterlands, smashing everything with impunity.

Yeah as a fellow console user I'm so upset I can't acquire these awesome and non available weapons...I seriously don't want to play thru anymore. Can't have the build that I want...probably sounds very bratty, I admit it is! Just how i feel though :\

Nah, I understand even as a pc user. You know all these awesome items are in the data but you either have to farm endlessly for them or they are bugged not to drop. In my case I have the option to use a cheat engine but the fact is a game should NEVER require a cheat engine to be enjoyed. Yet with the idiotic loot system, rare material drop system, and overly limited supply of some materials, bioware has essentially forced us to exploit the game by resetting spawns and/or chests or using a cheat engine/dupe glitch. I HATE exploits, I always have, but when a game is like this there is little choice and sadly the exploits don't even fix all the problems so a third party software is needed... but I suppose given the number of bug fixes and unofficial patches I have for DAO I shouldn't be surprised...

:\   Sadly I'm gonna be waiting awhile to play SP again then..I started another warrior and farmed to get the Inquisitor Helm Schematic early...but now I'm stopping until this schematic thing gets sorted out

They sadly need to make this available. I can't stand Playing as my weapon and shield warrior knowing this is unobtainable. No Iron bull romance yet...T_T

Maybe we will get it with the "Black Emproium" Patch or DLC...
