the redcliffe demo was not filmed on a smartphone and most certainly wasn't alpha footage.

It was, however, stated to reflect a build from several months prior. The actual story content plays out pretty much the way it's shown in the video. The only thing different is the placement of some spells and the place you get that quest to find that one woman's ring that was stolen by Templars.

And THAT is the typical console player that can be blamed for the feces of video games being dumped on the market. The console gamer who doesn't really care about the game that much, they have hundreds and buy them, play a bit, and move on. This is who bioware is now catering to, catering to meaning making a sub par game for a casual player to do fetching and button smashing and move on.

Eeexcept.... I'm not a console gamer. I play all games on PC. I haven't bought a console game since Final Fantasy XIII came out. And before that it was a looong stretch.

Casual gamer? Hell, I don't know anymore. Maybe I am now. I've been an avid RPG fan going on 25 years but I have a job and husband and a daughter that takes up a lot of my time. I just can't dedicate time to caring about this trivial sh*t anymore.

I have plenty of things about this game (and previous others) that I can criticize and compliment, and I do so here in these forums in order to help shape an even better game in the future because I really like Bioware as a game company. Simply put, they make games I like to play.

But this? Not putting in something they showed prior to release? I don't care about it. It didn't float my boat to begin with.

To me, it just ain't that big.

Oh look, a snobby, PC elitist. Never seen one of those before. Stop blaming console players for everything you don't like.

Oh, hi. PC gamer here, I haven't bought a console since PS 2. I already posted my thoughts on the topic, and, unfortunately, they don't seem to align with yours, so I must be a console gamer? I have a better theory: I am an informed consumer. I understand what "Alpha build, content may change" means. I also understand what Spoiler means, and why a developer may not want to include too many of them in marketing material. I mean, after all, if you're going to give the whole game away in the marketing material, who's going to actually buy it? People like you? What percentage of the playerbase do you suppose you are? I know for a fact that you don't represent the entirety of the PC player base. I'm a PC player, and you don't represent my views.

Wait, I know, I must just be a Bio-Drone, right? No complaints whatsoever about the game? A check of my post history, in the months prior to release, will show that that's not the case. Hell, I have complaints about the way the entire series was handled, to wit, I believe that the Warden should have been killed off in Origins. So maybe it's just that I don't think being able to make a fort any way I think it should be was that big a deal in the first place?

These threads, and others like it, are the reason commercials have the white words at the bottom of the screen:  "Do not attempt" for even the most mundane "stunts".  Because people start acting dumb and screaming "false advertisement" if their blue car is actually Cyan.

Bought a chainsaw a few months back and, hand to God, in the book, it specifically warned not to place the male reproductive organ on the blade of the chainsaw while in operation...because serious injury could occur.

Seriously.

Soon, BSN videos will feature a warning label:

Game content may vary.  Experience may vary.  Performance may vary.  This video is for entertainment purposes only.  Do not watch while under the influence.  Do not attempt.  Do not watch around small children.  Do not hold your finger in an electrical outlet while viewing...etc.

I know they wanted to hide the spoilers but... couldn't they have shown a different scene? Yes, I imagine not everything was quite up to scratch, but showing this and then saying things like "and bringing Dorian unlocks new options" seems disingenuous -- it implies that companions react more than they do on any quest that they may or may not be there for.

It would be one thing to say something like "this quest and its events are optional depending on your choices". And, frankly, I doubt the preview was filmed at a time where Dorian wasn't essential for it, so the whole "things change during development" argument falls flat.

Don't really have any problem with her scars being gone or anything, really. That's just plain spoiler-hiding, fine with that.

Ah the classical gamers approach to new games:

1. Listen to PR-talk that any sane person should know is 50% lies and 30% half truths (I mean seriously every company lies aboput their products all the time in all forms of advertising. Video game studios are no exception.)

2. Buy/get as a present/pirate the game.

3. Find out obvious PR-talk to sell the game was obvious PR-talk to sell the game.

4. Be outraged and complain about "being trolled", even though you basically trolled yourself by believing obvious PR-talk

5?????

6: Profit?

You're not really refuting my point here.  You're just underlining your own apathy.  Which is destroying your argument.  Apathy is a BAD TRAIT.  It is reprehensible.  I don't think there is a single circumstance in life in which apathy is GOOD TO HAVE.  Good lord.

Apathy is not always a bad thing.

"HALP, MY HOUSE IS ON FIRE"

I don't care.

"ISIS IS INVADING AMERICA"

I don't care

"Your payments are overdue"

I don't care

"Bioware lied to us about this game!"

I don't care

B-But Chronoid, those other three examples are EXTREME.

NOT THE POINT.  You are still uncaring about something that deserves attention and which needs to be remedied regardless.

You seem to be confusing "not always a bad thing" with "always a good thing."

Show that strawman who's boss.

That's the first complain I had after finishing the game.

I never like when they promise something that doesn't actually happen.

Sure, the game is still great and that mission is particulary awesome, but me and my friend got very excited especially after that video was released.

I really think that this is what the war table missions originally were.

Everytime there was a "big one" coming, you could've selected the approach and the companions and results would've changed.

I know it's easy to blame EA when something like this happens but...You know, it probably was EA's fault anyway

Two or three less months spent on a multiplayer mode that nobody asked for, and all this could've still been possible.
