I'm curious what you guys would change about DAI if you could change only one thing. What would improve the game for you above all or make it more fun?

I don't want to start another complaint thread. I love DAI, it's perhaps my favorite of the series. But no game is perfect, and there are many things I would have liked to be different. However, when I try to think of what bugs me most or what single change would make the game much better/more enjoyable for me personally, I find that difficult to answer. I don't know how I would prioritize my wish list. I'm interested to learn what matters to you the most.

This thread doesn't have to be about game altering changes. Or one thing at the sacrifice of something else, like smaller maps in favor of cutscenes throughout the game. You can just say more cutscenes.

Maybe some people would have been happiest with Leliana as a romance option, not a working tactical camera. Or Solas as a love interest for a male elf. Or a dog or even a dragon as a pet. Day/night cycle, able to swim, anything.

We'll just disregard budget concerns, just go nuts with that you would have liked differently or added and perhaps state why :)

But only one thing. The Maker will grant you only one change, so choose carefully!^^

(Bioware, do not read this thread or even consider taking any of this into consideration. Just do your thing. We'll be fine.)

I would have liked more conversations and interactions with Corypheus. If I can append a second request- don't have him start out as the darkspawn persona. Start with the possessed grey warden and go from there.

Just one? I'm intensely selfish so I'd say keep bi-Cullen and bi-Solas instead of dumping the voice recordings and making them straight. That's the main reason I've only had one playthrough and don't plan another for a long, long time.

Lots of other things that bothered me about the game, but you said just one :P

If I weren't so incredibly selfish I'd have picked this.

I would've made the final battle more progressive with some sort of buildup, and have the entire party participate to some capacity.

To spice things up, I'd throw Bull's Chargers into the mix so that we get something more for saving them

Hard for me because it is between two things. Replace Corypheus as the main antagonist because we were told the Elder One is suppose to be a mystery. But could totally tell that's cory at the start. I would have been happy with some monster that lives in the Fade and Cory served it.

The second is totally selfish on my part. Get rid of Cullen simply based on I hate the character with a passion and want him gone.

That is a hard one. I think I'd have to go with drastically fewer optional "filler zones" in favor of a longer, deeper, less hand-holding storyline that takes me to more zones to discover the enemies' plans by myself instead of having NPCs (especially Morrigan, whom I just plain despise and never wanted to see again, nevermind to suffer her muscling in on the plot and the inner circle as if she had any place there) always tell me exactly where to go and what to do for every single step of the rather short way.

Sure, it's good that my spies and advisors are doing their work and not leaving it all to me, but I'd really have liked more mystery and personal discovery. Plus, the plot is just too urgent and too short to justify all the filler content without breaking immersion. Many of the plot hooks for tying the optional zones into the main story are already there and would only have to be expanded on.

I never thought I'd feel such a defensive reaction toward Cullen of all characters.

More Schematics!

Not just more available, but more styles, combinations, and variations, everything from weapons to armor upgrades. I wanna go full on barbie doll with my team.

It's hard to pick just one.

A more successful enemy.  They seem to fail at every turn and always get stopped and have no progress. It would have felt more challenging if you had this overwhelming sense that they were  gaining ground or striking back or something. Instead you are going from place to place and cleaning house and they never return.

You should be afraid to leave skyhold for any long period of time, for fear that when you got back, you would find it destroyed.

Other than Haven, the Inquisition seemed invulnerable. You hardly ever find the enemy wiping out inquisition troops. All the camps and forts are completely safe.

This so damn much, more interactions with Corypheus. The possessed grey warden is a neat idea, but I like his introduction as it is, it's the buildup after the first encounter that's missing.

In the fade, there's a codex entry of an elf who served the magister who took on the name Corypheus. It gives us some insight into what the man was like before the venture to the black city. I would have very much liked to see the events of the codex as a vision, as it would show us what Corypheus looked like prior to the ritual.

The tactics system. It was almost perfect in DA2, and now it's practically non-existent. For me, that's the game's only really serious flaw.

Perhaps an individual plot/storyline to go with each region, something a little more developed than just, rescue the soldiers, meet the mercenary.

Imagine if we had gone into the Frostbacks to recruit Avar to our cause and had to do some involved quest with them.

Imagine if we had to actually negotiate with Kal-Sharok  (sp?) for their help in the Inquisition.

(I think you get my idea here).

I so much wanted to revisit Dwarven culture again, spend some actual time with my Dalish cousins. Learn something new about the Avar and what sort of people they truly are.

(And I want Tactics back)

I'd like to not wear skin toned pajamas at Skyhold.  First time I saw them in a live stream I thought the character was naked.  Family had the same reaction watching me play at home.

Beyond that, this game is so beautiful it makes me tear up.

This is very much part of my own wish for a longer, deeper story, yes. I love every moment of In Your Heart Shall Burn ... but for what it is, i.e. the emotional climax-rollercoaster of the plot -- it happens way, way too early. There should have been an even heavier blow later on, as well as setbacks in other places. Even just war table banter and the occasional "send reinforcements now" war table mission would have helped a little.

We're too safe. It's too easy. Give me losses, give me someone to mourn, people I know, people whose deaths actually have an impact beside "okay your herbalist died, here have a better one". Give me something personal to sink my teeth into between the first confrontation at Haven and the endgame. Let me struggle to keep faith in myself, and people's faith in myself as the only thing standing between themselves and utter ruin and despair.

Speaking of "faith", they'd been thinking about making that a more dominant plot element, and I really wish they'd done so.

I want back the if/then tactics system. If it's not in the next game it will probably be the first bioware game I skip. There writing has become more and more lackluster lately and it's no longer good enough to carry a game with poor gameplay.

I would introduce something simple yet utterly needed in a game with such huge amounts of loot, a storage chest. Its simple, it doesnt change anything but makes life oh so much easier.

I would change the last mission and make it far longer.

If I can change more, I would add one more story mission with Corypheus playing an important role in it, rather than a distant one.
