Why did Solas give Corpy the orb in the first place?  To power it up but for what reason?  Did the Inquisitor ruin his plans by taking its power?  If he wanted to enter the Fade and wake the old gods (or kill them) why did he even need to work through a proxy?

My theory was that he would use Corpy to power it by sacrificing the Divine and take it back but it occurred to me that he didn't need the magistar to do that.  He could have just done that himself.  Is that still a mystery?  Am I missing something here?

Perhaps the orb was booby trapped and Solas intented Corypheus to die in the explosion. He'd then walk in, get his activated/powered up orb back and initiate his own plan. Too bad that Corypheus doesn't die as easily and that the orb bestowed a part of its power on the random person stumbling into the room.
