What it says on the tin please :)

With the bigger exploration areas, it's even more vital to have a real map in the minimap circle in the corner of the screen....at the moment it's just a plain black circle with a few symbols. It's very irritating having to keep stopping and looking at the main quest map to work out where I am. It was much more helpful having a real map picture there as there was in DAO and DA2.

Thank you muchly....

I would also support the actual map to be an actual map, one you can use to navigate rather than a vague drawing with quest markers. "Dungeon" area's maps are abysmal.

I would have preferred terrain detail in the mini-map, though I'd imagine there's some reason they elected not to have it.

I haven't really had any significant trouble navigating regardless.

YES, i entirely agree... i was disappointed by the blank circle...

the empty circle should not be empty, it should contain a minimap...

I second that!

I would have been more bearable if the area maps would have been readable, but in some cases they are just horrible. Thinking about Forbidden Oasis...

A necessary improvement for DA:I

It's funny, so many little things missing from DA:I that we got in previous games. It really shows the level of inexperience they had with this new engine when putting DA:I together. I would have been glad to have them use the DA:O engine if it meant more features, more story, etc... I can't imagine how much development time they spent getting used to the new engine and tools which could have gone towards making the game even better...

Just imagine how good DA:4 will be with what they have learned from using the engine for DA:I... That is if they don't have to switch to a new engine for DA:4... Maker forbid

I use the manual map markers to navigate. The blue ones you can make yourself. I guess appreciating the art of discovery is something I enjoyed. Whether it be looking up the side of the cliff to see if I can make it or setting out from camp for a mini-expedition. I won't lie it got confused and lost but I thought that was part of the fun. With my control scheme I Tab for maps so it really wasn't so bothersome if I needed to make a new indicator.

Argh yes.  The minimap is virtually worthless.  Also the quest markers are approximate and shouldn't be (if they're going to be there at all).  I've had the actual quest giver/item be a good 50 feet away from the marker at times.

+10 on this!  Pathfinding can be real problem in a game with as much environment as this one has!

+1,  AND the option to hide the minimap for those times when I just want to enjoy the beautiful environments B)
