Ok If you still havent finished the game I strongly recommend to you to turn back now. major spoilers ahead.

and also, I wasnt sure if this was the right forum to discuss it, so if i was wrong, please move it!

Well I am sure some of you already heard about this idea, but I am sure many havent, and I would like to discuss it.

Ok the theory is that the ancient elven gods (aka elghanan, mythal, the dread wolf etc...) are all Old gods,

or actually, all the old Gods are the elven gods' pantheon from ancient arlathan.

Why? first, if you count them, they are 9 elven gods.... OK OK BUT THERE ARE ONLY 7 OLD GODS!!!

yes! 7 old gods not including The Dread wolf and Mythal!,

How does it all connect? We know that on some point in the history of the ancient elves, Mythal was betrayed and murdered,

and her soul somehow survived and lived thru the ages in Flemeth,

now, during the game Solas keeps hinting that the Ancient elves were not so innocent, and in fact maybe not better than Tenvinter,

due to slavery and bloodshed and other immoralities,

He also  hints that Dread wolf is not exactly how the Dalish depict him, which means he was not necesarily bad.

It is strongly possible that he chose to rebel/betray the other Elven gods to save the rest of his people and prevent further bloodshed.

thus he locked them away.

So if Mythal was already gone, and the Dread wolf himself tricked and prisoned the other elven gods, that leaves us with only 7.

7 Old elven gods prisoned in the deep roads.

That could also explain the origin of their name- "Old gods", the tevinter empire raised on the rubbles of Arlathan, and when they somehow found out about those "Old Gods" they started worshipping them, unaware of anything about their background.

A good reassurance for all of this is, during the Grey warden chapter in the main quest,  it is revealed that the Venatori mage together with Clarel and the grey wardens planned to raise an army of demons thru blood magic, and kill the old gods in the deep roads,

If Solas is in the party he will overwhelmingly react how crazy this idea is, and that it could maybe make things worst.

I think the reason for his reaction is, that after all, he doesnt wish his bretheren death, and he rather keep them the way they are,

this is also supported by the fact that Flemeth/Mythal taught Morrigan the ritual, a means to preserve the soul of an ancient elven god.

If you think about it, Flemeth can easily shapeshift into a dragon.

Nobody told us in what form those old gods dwell in the deep roads, they might be in their humanoid form, and when corrupted by the darkspawn they shapeshift into a dragon's form as an archdemon.

The old gods are also caged their centuries, if not millenias. they are immortal, just as Solas and everyone else from Arlathan.

Who knows? maybe the blight is their means to escape their prison, thuse they tricked the magisters into entering the fade.

I dont really have an idea what is or was the black city, or what is the blight.

The Black city if I recall the way it looked in DAO, it looked like a city ripped and thrown in the skies of the fade.

How or why I dont have an idea, and I am not sure if we will ever know.

Bioware likes to keep the balance between faith and atheism in the game.

so to say everything the chantry said is false, is somewhat unlikely.

what we do know that there is red lyrium in the raw fade, and red lyrium has the blight in it, red lyrium was also found in an ancient thaig in the deep roads.

Which was first? who created it? I have not really an idea right now.

Ok that is all. Opinions please

This is old news. DA:I basically confirmed what lore buffs already knew - only it was more specific.
