Spacebar issue...

I just bought the game, installed it successful, even used my promo code and got the new DLCs... I've started a new game with an imported character -- works fine as far camera control and WASD movement goes but I'm still at the beginning of the game, where Miranda wakes you up and tells you to grab your armor and pistol from the locker. I can approach the locker fine but whenever I press spacebar to grab my pistol nothing happens -- I press spacebar multiple times, nothing happens. The second time I reload the game, I changed the key binding but again nothing happens.

Anyone got any good ideas to what's wrong? Otherwise, I just might have to try to reinstall the game to see if that works.

I am a programmer at Bioware and I'm trying to repro this issue.

Please let me know the following things (please answer ALL the questions, not just 1!):

1) Have you re-bound the spacebar or the "use" command?

2) Can you still storm? (default control is to hold spacebar while moving)

3) Is your framerate low? (TAKE THIS QUESTION SERIOUSLY, IT'S 99% LIKELY THE PROBLEM)

4) Have you changed any graphics options other than screen size?

5) Have you used any of the modification tools posted by other users? (There is no problem with doing so, I'm just wondering if its the source of the problem.)

I just want to address some of the complaints also. Its not that we don't care about this bug. We just don't know what's wrong yet.

My guess is that your framerate is too low, or there is something wrong with your graphics driver. I can't get into specifics, but the game relies on the graphics card to determine if something was "visible recently". If your frame rate is low enough, then the game will never think something is "visible recently".

Please let me know anything relevant about your graphics card or graphics settings, including the framerate if possible. If the game is under 10 FPS, it may cause problems.

Ok so I think for some of you the problem is the low framerate. For now, the best solution is for you to get a faster framerate. You can get this by reducing your resolution. We made a technical decision that the game would rely on the framerate being at least a certain level.

I apologize because I know you're great fans, and you want to see the game in full glory even though your machine isn't the fastest. But at the same time, we had to have technical limitations somewhere.

If you think you have a different problem and you want to help me find it, let me know the following things:

1) Do you see a blue targeting icon consistently, or does it flicker out of existence?
2) Please get your exact framerate if possible. There are many free programs to do that. (FRAPS (http://www.fraps.com/) is one. Please note that FRAPS is not endorsed by Bioware, this is just a suggestion if you want to be involved in troubleshooting.)
3) Tell me your graphics card

So far, everyone has confirmed their framerate is below about 10.

For now, I don't know if it'll be fixed in a patch, so all I can do is suggest ways to fix it.

1) Make your window size smaller

2) Play in windowed mode

3) Some graphics drivers will let you reduce the quality in the settings

4) Close all other programs

For some people, different levels will run faster or slower.

Again I know this sucks and I'm not happy saying it, but we decided to use the graphics card for the blue selection squares, and if its not fast enough there's really no simple way around it for now.
