I just bought the game, installed it successful, even used my promo code and got the new DLCs... I've started a new game with an imported character -- works fine as far camera control and WASD movement goes but I'm still at the beginning of the game, where Miranda wakes you up and tells you to grab your armor and pistol from the locker. I can approach the locker fine but whenever I press spacebar to grab my pistol nothing happens -- I press spacebar multiple times, nothing happens. The second time I reload the game, I changed the key binding but again nothing happens.
WHAT SHE SAID !!!!!! is exactly whats hapening to me, im stuck at begining with red recticle that wont turn blue.
presing the space does nothing !!! hurry with that patch pls.
how does window mode work , mabe that would help me ?

I did this and I was just able to get my pistol and armor from the locker BUT I'm still stuck as far as that one door goes! I thought playing in windowed mode would make a big difference. There's NO blue square anymore... <_<

I'm guessing it's a graphics issue, how many of you guys' graphics cards are up to the recommended level? Mine's above minimum, but nowhere near the recommended and I'm having the same problem, though esc-esc-spacegasm works... I dunno, I'm just thinking outloud, but that's where the problem seems to be, not with keyboards.
It might also have something to do with graphics but I've gone through a lot of threads where I'm discovering people get to a certain point of the game successfully with no problems whatsoever but then suddenly they just completely lose interaction with objects and characters. They lose their blue squares too... and again, no, it's not a hardware issue as it was assumed so at the beginning -- it's an "interaction glitch or bug" and an utter nuisance.

It definitely is a game bug, but since I messed with the settings it's been running fine. Went down to 4:3 aspect & 800*600 res and the problem has gone for me. It's definitely worth a try until there's a patch to fix it. It won't work for everyone, but it's a helluva lot easier than skipping in and out of the menu and hoping to catch the interaction at the right time for those of us that it works for.
For everyone else, c'mon bioware, fix it pleeease. We'll [be your friend if you do/shoot you if you don't]!
(Umm... in case there's anyone who lacks a sense of humour, that's a reference to the paragon/renegade conversation options... not a threat... ish funny, yes?)

It's true... not all these work-arounds will work for some people and sometimes players just lucky too. [sigh] As I feared, I'm stuck again after literally half an hour of trying to use the [esc] [esc] trick to get access to some tablet lying next to a dead dude after getting Jacob and Wilson. I think I'm supposed to contact Miranda through that tablet because I see her name, and then talk in gray underneath it. I don't know. But enough!
It would be nice if we heard from BioWare about this bug soon because... well! It's irritating. At least tell us when a patch will be released.
...The joke is pretty cute.

I expected more from Bioware, but this appears to be a typical console title ported to the PC.

Still no luck. But a new thing. I no longer get the blue box highlight to interact with. I see the red outline box but no blue interaction box. the hit esc trick sometimes gets it back but I still cannot interact with anything
It usually took me about at least four or five tries using the [esc] [esc] trick, and then if that took too long I just quick saved and hit F9 to reload and hammered down on the spacebar then that would work (repeat if necessary). It's a lot harder to do with objects on the floor because when you reload the camera angle isn't saved. I'm still stuck with just that... a tablet on the floor. [sighs] I dislike this so much...

It sounds like detection code for the interaction is very small and dropping the resolution down can make it bigger. Why it doesn't effect everyone I don't know. Is there a graphics card commonality like ATI or NVidia? Old drivers? Weird native resolutions?
If you could all try posting specs maybe there is a connection?
Good luck.

I'll admit my laptop does not meet all the minimum requirements but I can still play the game. Just that blue square doesn't show up. If someone posts their specs here and they meet the recommended requirements but are having the interaction issue, then graphics may not be an exact factor.

I've been running the game at minimum resolution in windows mode, and that alone is very frustrating since my screen resolution is 1680x1050. I find myself with my face inches from the monitor just to see what's going on.
Is there a way to know when/if BioWare is even aware of this?
