so what's the overall ranking

Seems to be averaging out to middle of the pack, which doesn't sound unfair. DLC will probably improve its standing slightly, and if the consensus is that it's in the upper third of BioWare games when it's all said and done I'd say that's pretty successful.

Yeah, that's pretty much how it looks. I've been working on normalizing the data, and from the first half of the thread DAI looks like it's following a fairly standard bell curve. A little below DAO, but not much; about 33% prefer DAI to DAO, 61% like DAO better, and the rest are ties. DAI doesn't get too many first or last place votes.

I'd love to see your results when you are done. Mainly I'm surprised and amused at how well ME3 is representing in this thread. It seems to get a bunch of either Top2/Bottom2 votes.

Pretty well, from what I can see. A bit polarizing, but we knew that already.

Well that goes to show what patches and DLC can do for a game.  So I figure DA:I will be ranked differently after it receives some DLC and extra patches.

Although it should also be borne in mind that as the most recent game released, it is profiting from being fresh in people's memories. Modern gaming is infamous for insisting that the only time that matters is (clicks fingers) this moment. Similarly, people look back on older games with rose tinted glasses, and are rarely as objective as they believe they are being.

There's no real solution to any of that, its just the way things are. The point is, we should take anything these stats may appear to 'prove' to us, with a grain of salt. These kinds of things are never as clear cut as they may appear to be. There's already some massaging of the stats going on, with people mentally shutning Inquistion up a notch or 2, because of the DLC (which hasn't been released and may not change people's opinions whatsoever, good or bad).

Agreed. I'd rank BG2 very highly, but when I play it now I'm conscious of a lot of limitations. Every time I play ME I discover more incoherence in the plot. (Latest from ME1: exactly who sent the warning about geth from Noveria, and why are Benezia's people working at cross-purposes?) And I'm still not ready to rank DAI, but even when I feel I am, I don't know how stable that ranking will be.

The last sentence is a reason why the first isn't necessarily true.

Indeed, I am projecting into the future. However, considering we had two games where DLC at worst did not harm the opinion of the game, and three straight games where it demonstrably improved the opinion of the game in the eyes of the playerbase, it's not a very risky guess.

Agreed. I'd rank BG2 very highly, but when I play it now I'm conscious of a lot of limitations.

When I've replayed BG2 relatively recently, I certainly became far more concious of the gameplay issues (in no small part due to them basing it of a horrible system for a cRPG in the form of AD&D2e), but at the same time, I've found that I actually consider the story and characters even better than when I first played the game. Nothing BW has done since can compete, particularly with regards to the main plot and the antagonist, with the exception of JE which gets very close on the latter point.

I'd say Dragon Age Inquisition is the best graphics I've played.

The best atmospheric game: Tomraider (2013). No doubt about it.

Widest freedom: Skyrim. I love it's unendless terrain.

Adventure and story: Withcer 2 and Mass Effect.

Best role play? I'd say Mass Effect.

If you remove all the collecting and filler sidequests from Dragon Age Inquisition it will get a very high score in role play.

Dragon Age: Origins (Still playing it 5+ years later & my first intro to BioWare, and I'd be first in line for a PS4 Edition)

Mass Effect 1 (I like Shepard, the companions, the antagonist, the intro to the Reapers = shivers, and I even like exploring in the wonky Mako.)

Mass Effect 2 (Suicide Run might have placed it above ME1 but I think Vigil, racing to the relay, blowing out the elevator & walking outside the citadel tower, imo, trumps it.)

Jade Empire (Unique setting & music, the whole open palm/closed fist paths)

KOTOR (Mostly for the twist at the end; ruined in TOR as I play females, but that's not this game's fault)

Dragon Age: Awakening (I think its length + new characters + unique boss & story give it its own slot)

TOR (Mainly for its class-specific story quests)

Dragon Age II (Hawke just felt like a non-hero caught in a maelstrom, never really felt like my character)

Mass Effect 3 (The original ending (for me Destroy and I don't MP) was such an empty hollow feeling. I never want to feel that again in a video game...ever.)

Dragon Age: Inquisition (Up to Skyhold I would have placed it higher; sadly after Skyhold, it feels at times like a real chore. I also can't stand profanity, which is why it ends up in last place even below the punched-in-the-gut finale of ME3)

1) Dragon Age:Inquisition:  It's epic (like really really EPIC), and I love all the characters(but Dorian is my favorite) ,  the strong feelings, and I'm proud of my Inquisitor. In addition :the world is beautiful and big(And there is Skyhold),  I like the crafting system and BS  and there is always something new to discover and this is my sixth  run...Awesome.

DA II : Hawke is absolutely my favorite character, unforgettable, the best character ever  . Fenris and Anders were intense characters( not so much Merrill, Evelyn or Isabela..ugh) .  Moreover I liked the story in this game...  personal, intense an tragic. Not so much the world instead. What a shame.

ME 1 an 2:  because...Shepard, you know...

ME 3:  more intense and epic but the ending...ugh. No more, please..... :(

DAO:  I only played this game 3 time. The first: wonderful.  The second :interesting.  The third :boring, because no more new things to do or discover, and the world was inexistent so no exploration...

Agree about the heavier usage of profanity appearing in Bioware titles, and dislike ME2 more because of the inability to avoid it in my only session. However, I was able to restrict it greatly in ME3 and DAI by avoiding offending characters. May I recommend restricted encounters with Iron Bull, Blackwall, and for general vulgarity; Sera. The remaining seems somewhat clear based on my two campaigns if one avoids the Dorian personal quest. FYI in case you wish to replay later.

@ Elhanan Off topic - I simply will not take Bull or Sera, ever again. At least we have that option, so thank you BioWare for that, I suppose, but I wish it wasn't necessary.

On topic - I was really waiting, as most of us I suspect, a long time for this game, since 2009 (Didn't care much for DA II) and it's just disappointing to see that when replying to this thread I had to place it last.
