Even though there's only Leliana, Cassandra and Vivienne available for that position, I think Mother Giselle would've been a nice option as the next Divine. If Elthina had lived beyond DA2, she could've been a decent candidate as well, though her neutrality would've caused a lot of trouble and regression again after the Inquisition war, I believe. It makes me hard to choose between Leliana and Cassandra, knowing how both are romance options and one way or another, one of them will have to leave their love interest behind if they can't marry or have a lover in their lives. I'm not really fond of the idea of putting Vivienne on the throne.

Hmmm....perhaps Josephine.

Edit: Maybe the Inquisitor as well, but that involves story problems I guess.

Joke Answer: The box containing the Grand Duchess' remains.

Serious Answer: Mother Giselle

I'm not sure why she's not a choice, probably because everyone would choose her I guess.

I think Cassandra is a good choice too, but like she says, she doesn't look good in hats.

Vivienne is the best choice, but if I had to go for a fourth option...

...ummm...

The Black Divine, whoever that is, just convert to the imperial chantry, keep the templars, ban slavery and blood magic, things would be great.

Given the way the Chantry is, I could see the Herald being able to be Divine if they were: Human, Female, and Devout.  All of these things are tracked and logged in the game anyways (Being a faithful inquisitor yeilds you different judgment options).

The one seen talking with Josephine after Wicked Hearts, Wicked Eyes about having Leliana or Cassandra made Divine.

The inquisitor, especially a male qunari mage.

Definitely Giselle. I'm quite surprised she was never even suggested as a potential

I find it a little grating that all the available options don't really seem like they should be serious contenders, or at the least, there should be other options that aren't inquisition agents.

The Black Divine is male though.

The Divine is always a woman.

I thought there were already 4. Cassandra, Vivienne, Hard leliana, and soft leliana. Ok ill stop being difficult, I get what you're saying.

I agree, I'd like to see Mother G as Divine. Funny thing, she was supposed to be at the conclave but didn't go because she wanted to stay and help the refugees in the Hinterlands.

I read this on a small note sent to her from Divine Justinia before she died.

Which is why I mentioned converting to the Imperial Chantry.

Technically, the first Chantry was led by a man, Archon Hessarian, 100 years before Drakon. If the south did choose to follow the "Black" Divine, pressure against slavery and blood magic would increase in Tevinter and I would guess things would go back to Hessarian's Chantry, but with a Divine and Grand Clerics added.

I'm not so sure Giselle would have been a great Divine. I find Leliana to be a terrible Divine. No other candidate shows much promise, might as well give it to the guy who is doing the same thing in the north if Cass or Viv can't be installed.

The inquisitor. Read that it was a plan during development or at least talked about.

I actually deleted my first play through because I thought I missed the chance to make Mother Giselle the Divine. Was disappointed to find out she isn't a choice.

I'd say my Quizzy but then, um we'd ahve to have a Tevinter Chantry because he's a he. So for females Avaline because she's got the balls to do what's right the world's ideas of what the chantry is be damned.

I guess Giselle would have been an okay option, but I don't think either of the Inquisitors I have played so far would have supported her. I could definitely see playing an Inquisitor who would have liked a shot at it.

I was really surprised to find out the Vivienne could actually get the position. If a mage can be selected, then why not a male?

The break up scenes would be interesting.

Kind of like Cassandra's situation but flipped around.

Unless the Inquisitor goes Leliana's route, throwing out all doctrine and tradition and doing whatever. Someone tweeted that Leliana would probably change the rules to stay with a romanced Warden. However, not sure if that would go well with Cullen anyway...

Because according to Chantry doctrine, men are more fallen than women. Mages are given magic, which is a blessing and curse, but they are not said to be more fallen due to it.

Something about woman makes them more suited as Divine than men to the Chantry, and they use Maferath's betrayal as evidence.

I think that is their reasoning, anyway.

I like the Imperial Chantry reasoning a bit more, with mages being seen as blessed and given great responsibility, so they are seen as the more preferred candidates or whatever.

Personally I could see Giselle rockin' the big popcorn hat... not sure why she was never an option.

Otherwise Aveline. She'd make a rugged candidate.

Mother Giselle, of course. Somehow, I'm thinking that something will happen to the Divine we've picked (maybe stepping down to deal with other Inquisition matters in one of the DLCs) and Giselle will take the Sunburst Throne. Since all 3 candidates know Mother Giselle and she's malleable enough to take each of their stances on the mage/templar issue, I can see her ending up as the true Divine in later games.
