Who would you suggest as a Fourth Divine Candidate?

Because according to Chantry doctrine, men are more fallen than women. Mages are given magic, which is a blessing and curse, but they are not said to be more fallen due to it.

Something about woman makes them more suited as Divine than men to the Chantry, and they use Maferath's betrayal as evidence.

I think that is their reasoning, anyway.

I like the Imperial Chantry reasoning a bit more, with mages being seen as blessed and given great responsibility, so they are seen as the more preferred candidates or whatever.

I guess so, yet the Chantry quarantines their mages for their curse, but not their men. They seem to distrust mages more than men.

Mother Giselle

She was probably a better candidate than the other three.

I can never take Mother Giselle seriously after the Dorian conversation. Really, what was the point in that scene? Why is she engaging in idle gossip?

So...Sister Theohild.

Circle Bethany.

She's lived both in the Circle and as an apostate, so I think she would have a good idea about how to reform the whole mage situation so that mages can have freedoms and independence, whilst learning their craft responsibly. She's also very religious, as you'd expect a Divine to be. Plus, she's a sweetheart who wants to help people. The only drawback is that she might not be authoritative enough, but becoming an Enchanter so quickly in Kirkwall's Circle and being very respected by the apprentices there suggests she does have some leadership capacity.

Not that the Inquisitor ever meets her. I suppose Giselle would've been a nice option.

Edit: Cleared up some gibberish.

Hmmm....perhaps Josephine.

Edit: Maybe the Inquisitor as well, but that involves story problems I guess.

Yes. It was actually an original option, of course. There's concept art for it, and everything. You could effectively have taken a Male character and make them like a non-Tevinter 'Black Divine'.

Before the Circles and after Drakon's Chantry was established, the Chantry housed the mages. The mages got fed up, protested, and negotiated to have their own place, thus the Circle system was made. If they completely distrusted mages, they probably wouldn't have shared a roof with them.

Mundane men are not blessed/cursed with magic, no need to give them extra care. The nature of men, mundane and mage, is what is seen as more fallen.

Drakon was the one who helped found the Chantry, and he is considered the equivalent of a saint in the Chantry, but he couldn't be Divine.

I honestly don't really know, Andraste didn't establish any kind of priesthood or set up any kind of religion. Grew up with a pantheon of gods, found the Maker, rejected her old faith, made the Chant, had followers, but didn't seem to organize it or select successors...

We have very little information on how it came to be or why the Chantry functions as it does. I doubt the writers bothered coming up with some deep theology, so whatever they allow must fit with the faith, even if a mage never sat on the sunburst throne before, it must have never been forbidden or something.

Well, I think I'd put Dorian there. He'd be in a position to put some outside pressure on Tevinter if needed but would probably make relationships better and he also serves as a big FU to the Chantry, which for all I care can crash and burn.

The fact that the 3 options in game are all awful. Mother Giselle like everyone else has said. How people in the Thedas thing Leliana would be suitable, you know, being a rather underhanded spymaster, or Cassandra, a warrior woman whos faith is mostly hurt by the games events and then Vivienne? A ******.

When in Skyhold there is Mother Giselle, a woman who mostly cares about people and that's it. Weird.

Do you really think Mother Giselle will convince priests, templars, mages, nobles, magisters, Qunaris, elves, dwarves, humans.......... That She'll be the rightful and the most suitable Divine?.....

Even though she convinced you as the Inquisitor with a subtle voice?.

It's surely not about convincing, it is about showing people the right path. It was mentioned in game (can't remember by who) that the Divine has power to influence people. Show them a Divine who really cares for all people, regardless of status or race, if they are a mage, Templar, noble or even alienage elf and only good can come from it.

Let take real life scenario as an example, the current Pope (Francis), the man is seemingly a good man, showing wisdom of the modern world and reaching out to build bridges. Being accepting to all peoples regardless of faith, even criticising the Vatican for it's problems. I think he will do great things in his position but I'm not Catholic nor religious anymore. The idea of his appointment wasn't to convince anyone, but show people the Catholic church is better. A good person like Giselle could do the same.

The Revered Father in my catholic church'd have been elected pope then, since he cared for all poor people in my town area. Most people loved him so much. He also have influence in other places and in West Africa too.  Why isn't he pope?

Dude I understand your point, but I'm not sure Mother Gisele had sufficient influence to get herself to the Divine position. Even if she did, she won't have much will to please everyone in Thedas. Considering her stance about putting faith in everyone as being the Maker's children, it will be irrelevant to most people especially those who does not believe in the maker or who have lost faith in the Maker like Leliana...

Benedict gave up his post to let someone like Pope Francis, Argentinian saint who already had influence in the catholic religion. He was already well known "saint" in South American and Spain. He was Jesuit by the way.

Leliana is crying? why?

I suppose because she really wanted to be Divine and has to settle for being Left Hand again. But this is the second piece of concept art where Leliana is crying her eyes out. In the one where Celene is assassinated Leliana is crying and reaching out to her, meanwhile in game Leliana is always the one who tells me we should just let Celene die. Concept art can be odd at times.
