And they are two distinct legal things.  When you submit a score to the copywrite office, you can do so with a PA form. In this case you are copyrighting the written music, the melodies, lyrics, etc.   If you want to copyright a collection of recorded songs (sound track) you do so with an SR form.  Where it gets muddy is that a SR form can be expanded to include song writing credits.

Either way, this guy and gal, did a wonderful job.  What an amazing voice she has.  I feel like the artists here are getting screwed a bit, the hard work they put in is not being sold, so they aren't getting any $$$ for the "soundtrack" that's being sold separately.

If you're going to get technical about it the precise definition would vary depending on the jurisdiction and the manner in which the copyright is treated.

Not the first time Bioware's done it. Both the DAO and DA2 soundtracks were missing entire chunks of stuff, too.

They aren't 'getting screwed'.  They were paid for their services.

They 'might' have had a hand in the arrangements, but songs like:  "I am the one" were written by someone else, and unless he sold the rights to Bioware, is likely getting paid for the music as well.

I'd just like to add:  Free Publicity is worth it's weight in gold.
