I've been working on this drabble on and off since I finished my first (and canon) run of DAI. Elinan Lavellan, practical Inquisitor and student of Elvhen lore found herself inadvertently swept away by a handsome bald elf. By the end of the game she was quite certain he was not who he said he was and meeting Abelas helped her make some very shrewd guesses. I have written this poem from her viewpoint after she finds out the whole truth (I have a bit of fanfic prose I'm working on to get her to that point).
What you didn’t say
Hahren, Keeper from another shore,
Seer and sage, riven veil remorse of yore.
With Dreamer’s eye you see
Paths of eldritch mystery.
Tales of battles lost and won
‘Neath the rays of younger sun.
No simple wanderer, you
Prince and potentate also true.
Timeworn steps from other day
In capricious court of subtle play.
Dread Wolf, ancient trickster foe,
Sealed warring Gods, a savior so.
Through endless ages, Elvhen sleep,
Wake for blighted harvest reap.
Broken Dread Wolf sorrow bound
In ancient dreams spirits found.
Clarity in fade moored friends,
No mortal soul where truth depends.
Weakened, withered, power lost,
Key to waken, at what cost?
Allies sought to fault amend,
Ignorant mortals, truth to bend.
Dancing steps, subtle power bring,
Misguided duty on griffon wing.
Mountains, deserts, cloud torn sky,
Companions to friends as time slips by.
At Mythal’s altar loss doth ache,
Verity held lest eld purpose break.
Broken temple, Gods have warred,
Sorrowing Wolf, broken orb.
Loves anchor ties to break,
Succor lost for purpose sake.
On mirrored path, kin to bind,
Lonely task, no respite find.
The truth doth lie in cunning word,
What you didn’t say, heart should’ve heard.
