I understand that the specializations makes sense to each character

but does anyone miss a tree that tailored to the party members experiences or their personal lore?

Alright sure the whole merrill is an outcast deal as a description is a bummer but it gave the tree more life.

okay, sure maybe not have a skill or bonus for disapproval/approval but still would have been nice O:

and to balance it out in future games the party member would get point personal skill point in the tree every 4-5 levels and 1 more for their personal quests but you'd have like 8 - 10 or so skills in the tree.

maybe next time

I agree it would have been nice.  The multiplayer characters have personalized skill trees.  Seems like it wouldn't be that hard to do.  I can't decide if I would prefer all of their trees to be personalized or just the one specialization tree, actually.  Definitely the latter at minimum.

For instance, I really think Cassandra (who in the game talks about lighting lyrium-infused blood ON FIRE) should have a full-on Seeker tree, and Varric should clearly have a tree similar to his one in DA:2.

Solas is okay as Rift mage, but given his obsession with spirits, and the fact that he has deep knowledge of ancient elven magic, I think he could easily have a unique tree.

The rest seem okay overall, but I do think DA:2 was onto something when they each had their unique approval-based tree - same as ME2 (and 3? can't remember) actually.

I wish Cass's spell purge/wrath of heaven would hurt anything that used lyruim. red or blue. on top of demons

in me3/me2 i think you had to do their side quests to unlock abilites liek energy drain / carnage / etc

The only companion that I feel needed her own unique skill tree is Cassandra, since she tells you Seeker abilities are different from those of the templars, yet she gets a regular templar tree.

Also, her personal ability to set the lyrim in a persons blood aflame isn't even represented in the game..

that was probably one of the best things about DA2, and I find it hard to think of good things to say about that game.

There are many things about DA2 superior to the other two games. Sure, DAO and DAI system allows for "cool" stuff like blood mage Wynne or dual dagger Varric, but those character specific classes in DA2 made the party members feel more unique.

Definitely miss the skill trees. Don't get me wrong I really like DA:I, on my fifth full playthrough, but I preferred the skill trees in DA:O and DA2 and I definitely prefer the way the combat was controlled in DA:O..

Seeing the new MP characters sure makes me wish party members received similar treatment. Not only do the new characters have unique trees with many unique skills, but they actually introduced new (unique) gameplay mechanics.

It's a real shame they didn't have personal trees, it helped flesh their characters out more, and created more diverse party set ups.

Next time, eh?

I never liked ]['s attempt at it because all the skills and tress where lifted from the same skills and tress Hawke had in the first place. I eagerly await a second attempt should it avoid ]['s problems.

Eh, not really. Don't make my party members more special than me.

But, on a more serious note, I think it's strange an somewhat frustrating that party members had access to certain spells or abilities that Hawke had no chance of getting. Though I completely agree with everyone's points about Cassandra and the seeker thing.

What I really miss is the ability to assign points to stats of my choosing. I really don't know what they were thinking when they decided to base stat points on the abilities you choose.
