Recruit her

Conscript Templars

Get Cullen off Lyrium

Give her Common heart and tell her you hate her. She was visibly upset with me.

Let Cass reform seekers

Pick hard Leliana as Divine.

What you get is no Mage organization for her to worm her way into. Collage of Enchanters

Not on the good side of Bastien's family. Noble connections deminished.

No more Templars. Her worst fear made real.

Mages free. Her worst fear made real.

The option she wanted least as Divine. Say goodbye to her loyalist Mage group.

And a rather nice Mage Throne to sit on while you do it.

Talk to Viv at the end and she'll be rather salty.

Although I do love that idea of not talking to her and leaving her in the court yard. lol!! damn that's cold.

This is what i'm planing to do for my current third playthrough since i sided with the templars this run.

I'm curious as to why. I mean, this isn't Vivienne's manor. If someone wants to be passive aggressive, that's fine, and while I prefer not to play a petty Inquisitor, it would've been fun to have the opportunity to throw a little weight and have her stuff moved out and have a smirk option.

Hmm tbh, i'm not sure why she does it. She states something along the lines that she wants to test your reaction and that she is displeased with your choices in general because of its impact.  That her moving your furniture is minor and that you shouldn't get angry at her doing it when it is compared to the choices you make. It was a wierd comparison.

It was petty, essential it's don't like what you do so i'm gonna move your furniture as a prank. It's something i'd expect a teenager/young adult to do. Heck if she wanted to go down that route, she should spike the inquisitor;s drink, give a laxative. Ask Sera for tips.

So I'm curious- as I never took the angry options at skyhold. In what way is she playing you?

I've tried to googling it online and can't find it.

Ok well I did find it. And you apparently don't have to choose the angry options. The video I watched picked confused- and it looks like at least 2 others would have led to the same conversation.

This makes me wonder if this scene is approval gated somehow. I had very high approval with her in my 2nd playthrough (was purposely trying to make her divine) and the scene did not play out like this at all. I know people are saying "oh I had high approval and it still played out like that" but the fact is you don't really know that since they got rid of approval bars (why?!).

Well scene played out in my 2nd playthrough. From memory and i am paraphrasing when i picked the first angry option, my Inquisitor said she wanted nothing to do with whatever she was scheming. Her reply was, dear you already played your part. Second angry option, my inquisitor said you used me, her replay was darling it's the Game and walks off laughing/chuckling/giggling. Inbetween those options she talks about how she now has contacts with the council of heralds and the chantry thanks to you since she was able to leverage your Inquisitor by name dropping and all that. One of of Bastiens family member is a council of herald member and the other one a devout chantry member. I forgot which one had which title, but one was his sister and the other his son i think.

Approval wise, i remember when i started the Snow Heart Wvyren quest, she wouldn't tell me what it's for. According to my sister, she will tell you what it's for if your approval is high enough. Since i have never had high approval Vivienne when starting that quest, i can't confirm.

It might have been a dialogue added later when the first few pictures of Vivviene were leaked and some groups a players started raging because she was black and, from what I read about it when it first start, they thought a in Orlesian culture, there was no way for a black woman to get a high status in that time period (even though its not in our world -_-). It got to the point where people were already creating beta mods that changed her to a white woman before the game even came out... The funny thing is, that I have no idea where they got the idea from. Nowhere, at least as far as the games go, do they say anything degrading about skin color concerning humans. Sure, they call the races degrading things, but that's based on a species perception rather than color. Even Isabella's skin is never 'looked' upon in a manner that suggests her skin color makes her inferior when compared to someone who was not white. I'm just wondering where these players got the idea that skin color meant anything.

ANYWAY

However, this doesn't mean that there are not any of those characters that do make it important. I guess it could be a mirroring of real-life scenarios. Some people, simply don't see the color of a person skin as much as the actual person. Others do. Some cultures see your ethical heritage of higher importance than your individuality while others are opposite. I think in a way, this is also Bioware's way of saying that social conflict extends beyond species, but can work its way into gender, social class, sexual orientation, ethnic heritage etc. Like I said, a mirroring of our world.

So yeah, she just outplayed me big time and I didn't see it coming.  Smacked me in the head like a deer on a road late at night with a Peterbilt barreling down on me.

Thought I was just being nice to some friends of hers that were related to her recently deceased lover.  Now, after all the conversation options were exhausted,  I fear I may have just helped make her Divine.  Kinda wanna stick my horns through a door or something.  Or... through her.

Bioware denying you a chance to put Viv in her place isn't the same thing as not being able to beat Viv at her own game. It's basically the same thing as watching a cutscene that robs you of your agency.

I hate Viv who is basically the same insufferable, hypocritical character as the old lady from Kotor 2.

Been taking a break from DAI (been playing Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory, i love that series) after i finished my third playthrough, it's so painful playing on a ps3 in that it only allows 30 saves in total, which means i had to kill my first char to make space. So i haven't been following my topic, otherwise i would of replied sooner..

After following what Hazegurl recommended she just said she was going to go back to Orlais as first enchanter to organise The Circles which would of ended up getting dissolved since Leliana became Divine Victoria. I only thing to add was i had Empress Celene on the throne with Briala reunited and made Marquis of the Dales.

I agree with you, skin colour in DA universe doesn't mean anything, so i didn't really care that Vivienne was black. (And Kudos to Bioware for putting her in game, personality and colour and all). When i first saw her i thought Bioware was trying to make her look like Neferneferuaten Nefertiti (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nefertiti) especially when i found out she was bald/shaved her head. Nefertiti was bald (I think the ruling class shaved their heads so their royal hats fitted better), dark skin and supposedly very pretty/gorgeous. However that last part might be more 20th century cultural glamorising and stuff.

Yeah if anything Nationality and Non Human Race matter alot more. However as to what bioware intended with Vivienne being a mirror to social conflict (gender, social class, ethinicity, sexual orientation) in the real world, i would have to read the creators comments and notes before making an opinion, since i didn't see/notice that much with Vivenne. Vivienne was power and power begets more power. Plus she also had the character design core of superiority which was unchangeable by the player as Tevintersuprematist pointed out in an early post on this topic. So it was those things i noticed about Vivienne more than other parts.

I think if you give her the proper heart, it gives her more divine points, well that is what i got from it. While giving her normal hearts means she doesn't get any points. Well that's what i took from that scene anyway.

Kreia from Kotor 2 was interesting, i did like her at the time those many years ago and when i followed her instructions i ended up making myself a Grey Jedi unable to specialise since that was only for characters that have high light or dark. However thinking back on her now, she is probably an ingame version of that nut Ayn Rand. Wannabe Selfish hyprocitic, use people and **** em all type of person. So i doubt i will like Kreia as much as i did when i was younger. However i digress, back to Vivienne.

True it would of nice to have some agency to counter Vivienne's arguements but i think only Solas can do that it seems via party banter, so beating Vivienne's endgame was the only option i could think of and i didn't want to create a topic of disliking Vivienne or wanting betting dialogue with her since those topics i think have already been done.

Well, I'm happy to see BioWare had her sleeping her way to the top. It's nice to see they understand the kind of path a person like Vivianne would be walking.

Perhaps you should actually trying reading Ayn Rand before you make that kind of incredibly silly and uneducated comment? One of the absolute cornerstones of Rand's philosophy is the immorality of people 'using' one another and the necessity of a man's right to refuse another in a moral and successful society.

Really? Even if you go by our word standards (which is silly) Abram Ganibal will greatly disapprove, he  was skilled military engineer, major-general and a prominent member of the imperial Russian court in 18th century.

Wait, there was a scene after Bastien's death? Do you just need to talk to Vivienne enough times? I got the correct heart, and was on good terms with Vivienne. And I talked to her after that scene.

Yea, never talking to her works. You have your mage and you have your way. Sadly, I never use Cole, so I missed all the good stuff you posted. Glad you did, Thanks :)

This is what bugs me the most about Viv. She is written to never lose a verbal confrontation no matter how weak her position is. She out plays Sera every time, verbaly slaps Blackwall around with no reprecusions, has Iron Bull wrapped around her finger...she is written to be soooo much smarter and collected than everyone else and I hate it. I dont have to take her down but just once I want one of my companions to verbaly tear her up. She is a conversational Mary Sue. And I know some of you are going to say, "Well, thats because she's great at playing the game..." and to that I say bull. My other companions have been playing their own games, just once let Sera win, let Blackwall verbally smack her upside the head.

You know, we're told she's great at playing my game but I doubt anyone who was great at playing the game wouldn't go around making so many enemies out of people she has to rely on. Get smarmy with me lady and I'll send you off as an advisor with the Avaar. Oh but wait, your written so perfect you'd probably windd up ruling Tevinter in a week. Ugh, just...give me an operation on the war table where I can have Lelianna do poison her where she loses her voice, or sounds like Micky Mouse.

Nah the other mages are able to banter on par with her.

Hell Solas outright wins on a couple occasions.

Even here Lord Dread Wolf pwns her imo.

And let's not forget our dear Lord Dorians trouncing

Vivienne: (Chuckles.) It's rather amusing, Dorian.
Dorian: Your outfit's enteraining, I'll give you that.
Vivienne: The way you sneer at "southerners," pretending to be a shark from a land of sharks.
Vivienne: But you're not a shark and never will be, darling. They knew it, just as you do.
Dorian: I could have pretended. Wore fancy clothes, convinced everyone I'm something I'm not.
Dorian: Then I could take a position at court, ****** myself out, and desperately hope no one realizes what a fraud I am.
Vivienne: Such snapping for a fish without teeth.
Inquisitor: That's enough!
Vivienne: My dear Inquisitor, whatever is the issue? We are having a perfectly civil conversation.

ZING!
Dorian: It's true. I've heard worse from our gardener back home.
