So yesterday RNGesus blessed me with a Long Bow of the Griffon, and I wanted to pay the loot gods homage by putting it to the best use possible, making ample use of the uniqueness of this weapon. The whole concept of the kit is to pick off small targets a few at a time, by first using Fallback Plan, then Hook and Tackle straight to an enemy, unload a couple shots, Kill an enemy or two, then zip right back to full health and a safe place.

The Hook and Tackle upgrade is currently in question, based on how fast I can kill an enemy with this set up. If you can kill an enemy in 5 of the 15 seconds and there is nobody else to kill in melee range, I dub it necessary to close with another before the fallback plan times out. Also the Hunter's durability comes into question. I will do me no good to close with another enemy if I'm already at 10% health.

Throwing Blades seems like an obvious choice given it's upgrade, and Leaping Shot is a nice panic button every now and then.

What do you guys think? Viable? Terrible? I'm gonna do it anyway. If it doesn't work as well as I hope.... Routine, here I come!

Forgive me for saying it, but with the Longbow of the Griffin, it pretty much doesn't matter what your abilities are. I usually go with all of the bow abilities I can, though, for some weird reason, I went with mines on my current build. Ummm... I'm a sucker for Christmas lights?

I'm not a fan of Hook and Tackle, but it sounds like a good build.

No need for forgiveness, from the what I've experienced so far, you speak only the truth. It's just a fan-freaking-tastic weapon.

If you're hosting, Evade is a primo alternative to hook and tackle and, with the upgrade, has a bonus nuke left behind when used. If you use collision with the upgrade its a guaranteed detonation as well.

I love using Hook and Tackle for the fun factor.  It's rather dangerous as the little kick you do (~100% weapon damage) doesn't stagger reilably enough to prevent a hit before your flip-back landing animation ends.   The upgrade does let you do successive H&Ts for free (fun to play around with, not so much for effectiveness), and is always worth a chuckle for killing someone with the kick.  With Hook bringing you close, combo in a Leaping shot for a ton of damage, no need to save it as a panic button.

I like your idea of putting it all together with Fallback plan.  I never took to the skill as even if I return, sometimes I'd return with late hit of damage or worse, return dead -- as host too!

Fun but impractical combo with the chain:  Hook -> spring trap -> Leaping shot the airborne victim.

Anyone ever try hook and tackle across the two parallel bridges? Where the right room is a treasure room and the left usually has some enemies or a golden nug thing.

No, but I've used H&T to accidentally go through a secret room's mage barrier.  With no mage in the party, I was lucky to get out the same way.  This was in Tevinter ruins.  I don't know what enemy I was fighting, but you can fly past things that you've hooked if they get knocked up or down during your flight.

Hunter is my fav especially with that bow. use stealth, toxic cloud for groups and leaping shot for single targets with a lot of health. For the single not high targets spam basic attack at close range.

I wouldn't skip out on stealth. You don't need the upgrade but just having the ability to position yourself freely and get auto crits is really good. Works well with full draw and leaping shot. Longbow of the griffon with 3 crits at point blank hits like a truck.

Could've sworn there was a video here earlier.... came back to watch it, POOF. Maybe I'm losing my marbles?

Hmmm... strange... It might have been my evil twin thinking I was spamming the video around too much. I have a thread on it here:

The chain sometimes bounces off the railing, otherwise it acts normally, ya know clipping through objects n junk.
