Hey man, this is one of my fav's..I got mine farming Emprise Du Lion in my first play thru. Basically any chest in that region or the hissing wastes (As they will spawn T3 schamtics in any kind of chest, or rather have the chance to) Or good old Sulevin's Cradle...those are the most popular places..You can farm early in the Dwarven Fort in Hinterlands, I haven't gotten there yet on this playthru but plan to put that to use.

I discovered mine after returning from The Winter Palace.

Maybe I found it in a chest there, or was it a reward for my choice in supporting Celene and Biala?

not an actual mask it's a warrior helmet, but can be worn by all classes..it's a metallic mask.helmet with feathers lining the back of it

Yes, the helmet. It's the same item I refer to. I am sure I didn't have it in my inventory before The Winter Palace. But when I got back I had both 'Mask of the Empress' and the Superb Orlesian Helmet.

It is tier 3 chest rng loot. Rare loot at that... one of the last ones I found. It's okay. But for that look the Duke's Mane is basically going to be better with the awesome look. Helmets are the one case where I find crafting is often inferior to uniques.

I suppose with crafting and schematics you can tailor your equipment to your build. I really hate it when I find an awesome looking new item and that has junk stats.

Currently I'm wearing the free marches helmet, I don't even know if that has a schematic... But every other helmet I've found looked ridiculous.
