Some of the redcliffe villagers. especially Bella. Was very miffed to find 'the warden's rest' had been put out of business by some usurper pub.
Isabela at my Hawke's side.

The Amaranthine Wardens - Oghren, Nathaniel, Sigrun, Velanna.
They were in it, but I was hoping for something more substantial from King Alistair and Queen Anora. I may not be Golden Boy's biggest fan, but his stupid jokes were missed. Anora would've been cool too. Wish the War Table mission for peace talks with Orlais and Ferelden was playable.
Zevran. I liked Charter a lot and pictured Zevran filling a similar role. Guess he's freelance for life.
That's it.
I would have had the murderknife return as a constant companion rather than a brief cameo.
My elf babes, Zev, Fen, and Merrill. It's tragic to me that Morrigan got a part that easily could have gone to Merrill. Who's a better expert on the Dalish--some human apostate, or an actual Dalish elf who was specifically studying an Eluvian?
Also Wade and Herren, and Bodhan and Sandal.
Everyone who had a reason to be there was, I think. I would have liked more interaction with the returning characters, however.
Anders.
Say it loud!
Big on the Izzy part of your post.
I wish to see her again as well; she's a damned good rogue and she hits all my buttons.
The cameos we've had were too ham-fisted for my taste. I'd rather they focus less on returning characters for fanservice's sake and more on developing the giant principle cast we already have.

Because Morrigan's mother is Mythal and Merrill is a retarded blood mage.
Personally there are a lot of characters from DAO or DA2 that I would've enjoyed seeing again in DAI. Which characters from either game were you hoping would make an appearance in DAI, but never did?
I would have liked to see Merrill return. Her knowledge about the Eluvians would have been useful, and she could have easily tied into the plot with the Orlesian Eluvians and the network at the Crossroads, particularly as a corresponding mirror to her self-constructed Eluvian exists in the Crossroads. As Lavellan, it also would have been interesting to interact with another character who liked the Dalish and cared about the plight of the People, since it was incredibly isolated to be surrounded by characters who never really understood where you came from or what you believed in; I think Merrill could have easily related to that as the only Dalish among a group of mostly Andrastians.

Bioware might get some things wrong every now and again, but the character writing is the best in the industry.
Do you disagree?

I saw an intelligent young woman who was able to use her knowledge on blood magic to discern whether Keran was possessed, who could identify the natures of the Profane Abomination and Torpor, and who was building an Eluvian - a two thousand year old elven device that baffled even the greatest minds of the Imperium - from lore she studied and information she gathered from a shard she successfully cleansed of the taint.
The facts stand out far more than your pejorative of Merrill does.

This isn't a debate. If you think your waifu isn't an idiot after seven years of game that proves otherwise that's on you. The only person less intelligent in her story-arc was Marethari.
If it were up to me Fenarel would have smacked some sense into both of them and the Sabrae clan would've left Sundermount and the Marches in the first act.

Agreed.
It is unfortunate that the manner in which Merrill's story is told leaves the viewer with a near obligation to oppose and even detest her.
Nathaniel and Oghren, [i want a good cop, drunk cop DLC with these two. "Nathaniel!" Is it darkspawn? If not can we kill it yet?"] Sandal, Wade and Herren, The Queen Hero of Ferelden Warden Commander, and I will probably be the only one for this: King Bhelen and/or the surviving Harrowmonts
Also, while I played an everyone dies playthrough most of the time. Merrill is a cutie.
Plus she's a keeper ;DD [silly puns]
This isn't a debate.
Of course it isn't, because the facts don't support your post.

Well, I've addressed the examples where Merrill demonstrates her intelligence. Despite Merrill's culture shock about human society, she shows her intelligence throughout all three Acts.

I've never been a fan of men smacking women around.

You sure want to antagonize me Lob? I've seen you cry in your debates over the Dalish in the past. Frankly, you could use all the help you can get. But if you'd rather bully a dragon go on ahead and we'll see what that'll get you.
Morrigan is our expert on elven magic and artifacts because she's actually an expert. Merrill is a three year old playing with a loaded gun by comparison

I'd so love to help out, but he blocked me

Like I said in the Iron Bull thread. I was really pissed that Oghren didn't come back. The banter between him and Iron Bull could have been funny as hell. The banter between him and Viv could have been so funny, you would break some ribs laughing. Add Blackwall and Sera into the mix and Viv probably would have never left her room.

I've expressed annoyance in the past; that's not comparable to crying, however.

If you're expecting me to capitulate to you, despite the facts showing otherwise, you should prepare to be disappointed.
I'd like to see...actually, come to think of it, I'm good. I think most of the people I'd want to see again have made multiple appearances. I wouldn't object to seeing any of the previous companions that survived their adventures with my characters, but I can't think of anyone special I'd be overly giddy about.
