My elf babes, Zev, Fen, and Merrill. It's tragic to me that Morrigan got a part that easily could have gone to Merrill. Who's a better expert on the Dalish--some human apostate, or an actual Dalish elf who was specifically studying an Eluvian? 

 

Also Wade and Herren, and Bodhan and Sandal.

However, I am very glad that they put some real effort into certain reappearances, rather than just making some "hi here I am"-cameos. Morrigan and Flemeth are awesome, Alistair, Loghain, Hawke, Leiliana and Varric are really good too.

However, a bit more interaction between old party members would be nice. Alistair is Kieran's father, dammit, and he didn't even bother to meet him.

The cameos we've had were too ham-fisted for my taste. I'd rather they focus less on returning characters for fanservice's sake and more on developing the giant principle cast we already have.

Personally there are a lot of characters from DAO or DA2 that I would've enjoyed seeing again in DAI. Which characters from either game were you hoping would make an appearance in DAI, but never did?

 

I would have liked to see Merrill return. Her knowledge about the Eluvians would have been useful, and she could have easily tied into the plot with the Orlesian Eluvians and the network at the Crossroads, particularly as a corresponding mirror to her self-constructed Eluvian exists in the Crossroads. As Lavellan, it also would have been interesting to interact with another character who liked the Dalish and cared about the plight of the People, since it was incredibly isolated to be surrounded by characters who never really understood where you came from or what you believed in; I think Merrill could have easily related to that as the only Dalish among a group of mostly Andrastians.

Bioware might get some things wrong every now and again, but the character writing is the best in the industry.

The facts stand out far more than your pejorative of Merrill does.

It is unfortunate that the manner in which Merrill's story is told leaves the viewer with a near obligation to oppose and even detest her.

If you think your waifu isn't an idiot after seven years of game that proves otherwise that's on you. The only person less intelligent in her story-arc was Marethari.

 

Well, I've addressed the examples where Merrill demonstrates her intelligence. Despite Merrill's culture shock about human society, she shows her intelligence throughout all three Acts.

 

If it were up to me Fenarel  would have smacked some sense into both of them and the Sabrae clan would've left Sundermount and the Marches in the first act.

 

I've never been a fan of men smacking women around.

I'd like to see...actually, come to think of it, I'm good.  I think most of the people I'd want to see again have made multiple appearances.  I wouldn't object to seeing any of the previous companions that survived their adventures with my characters, but I can't think of anyone special I'd be overly giddy about.
