i've gotten new abilities...how the heck do i map them to my hot bar?

i'm playing a mage and am level 4 and added stormbringer but don't see how it maps to my hotbar

Stormbringer is a passive and can't be assigned to the hotbar. All the circles are passives, the squares/diamonds are the activated abilities. Those can be mapped to the Battle Menu, as it's called for us, by highlighting the ability and pressing X, then pressing the button you want it assigned to (hold L2 to assign it to the second "page")

The available actions should also be listed at the bottom on the screen when you highlight an ability in the tree.

i just realized that it was passive...thanks for the help i feel really dumb...took; me 30 minutes to figure that out
