I imagine, for all it is said that Templars "Nulify" magic, it cant be easy for the templar to maintain. Especially against a powerful mage. Otherwise, the Mage/Tempar war wouldn't have lasted longer than a few days, and ended with the deaths of all mages.

 

I believe Solas says that its not so much that magic is impossible, so much that its harder to do.

 

Its probably a 50/50 chance, but i would like to remind people that mages have options Templars don't. A clever mage could collapse a roof on a Templar, or perhaps cause a landslide or a rift in the ground to immobilize the Templar.

 

Further, i feel as though a Blood Mage would have an advantage as well.

 

Personally I'd say a clever mage would beat a skilled Templar almost every time.

Templar has trouble with Jowan because:

1-he broke this phial with his blood inside. Or the tempar habtualy use this phial for search mage.

2- Howe find him in first and capture a templar who search Jowan (the templar who found in Denerim's prison).
