Excepting trophy-only collections, I used to have to solve everything.  I could never leave a mission undone, people/victims in distress, or collectibles uncollected.  But I found shard missions and other anti-fun so over the top and monotonous that I find myself not caring to finish it all.

Even some of landmarks and quests in those convoluted "you can't get there from here" areas like Exalted Plains, and Emerald Graves I am leaving undone.  To me it just seems cruel that they would allow you to see a landmark, then despite the fact your character can slay a dragon, for some reason you can't scale a 3 foot slanted wall.  I guess the game developers felt that going around miles of the mountain, jumping up every few feet and sliding down until you find the magical "sticky" part to be hours of fun, especially with the clumsy controls.

Some parts I don't even understand what they were thinking.  For example in the Emerald Graves, there is a part where some prisoners in a cave cell want you to get them out and tell you there is a key in the room.  But instead of doing what normal people would do and tell you where in freaking room the key is, there is some whining lady in the cell screeching "no no to the left more, yes that's right, no no NO, now you've gone too far, no no NO to the right, no no NO to the left..." after 5 minutes of that frustration, that group of people are now rotting in their cell.  I even inadvertently found the key on the way out but was so annoyed, I left them locked up.

I think BioWare needs to implement something like Clairvoyance in Skyrim that will hint/show you the right trail to follow to get to your nav point.  They also need to ditch all these chores like the shard missions.

I love the game, but I am looking forward to the first clipping or levitation cheat/console command to come out so I can get all the stupid shards and landmarks without all the frustration.

Man, I WISH Dragon Age cured OCD. So much more fun than cognitive behavioural therapy and buckets of drugs. Although I do find collecting all the things rather soothing, and it's certainly a great distraction on bad days.

Yes, I gave up on them myself.

There is absolutely no reason to create a maze type paths anywhere. Plus your scouts are the ones that have  the responsibility of scouting new territory and provide maps for the Inquisition.

Complaining about people actually expanding upon their issues instead of just screaming "This **** sucks!" is even more sad.

Well, to each their own.

I personally found doing collection quests rather soothing when I was waaay too tired and not capable of concentrating  to do anything else. Running around, picking up shards, resources and enjoying scenery and companion banter on the way is not a bad way to relax.))

Perfectionism can be one symptom of OCD but they aren't really synonyms.

Completely agree OP. Most obnoxious, boring, monotonous quests in this game. Spamming search while circling around a mountain that you have to jump up like you're playing a 1990's platformer. All to find some shards that are scattered about the landscape for some reason or broken tapestries or lost hooch. Of course you have to go find it for fear of actually missing something good.

Then after 200 hours, you're sitting at 86% on your trophies because the Pathfinder, Dragon's Bane, and Persuasive are all glitched and refuse to unlock. Fun.

Well you know how it is.  We're not supposed to come in here and talk about the game unless we have nothing but glowing praise.

DAI actually did knock the OCD perfectionist completionist tendencies right out of me. After about 40 -60 hours of gameplay I stopped worrying about completing every little sidequest, learned to prioritize, and stuck with the quests that really mattered to me.

I was also forced to accept imperfect conversations. If I had a conversation with a companion or adviser and then realized several hours later that I really wanted/should have said X, I realized I had to leave it because I couldn't bear replaying all those hours.

I think replaying DAI and other games will be a SNAP after how thoroughly this game ripped my OCD completionism out and beat me with it.

Inb4 "it's a good thing that it cured you of your perfectionism!"

Because a game that encourages you to avoid completing its content is a great game

I 99% agree with the OP.

The shards quests is in fact very frustrating, and a waste of time. I get it that Bioware wants us to explore this new open world that they gave us, but we do not need to explore while our frustration level is high. I also found it bizarre how were unable to climb rocks. If we attempt to we slide down.... VERY FRUSTRATING!

Yeah I understand the pain of having to through the hot and cold game of finding the key to release the prisoners from their cells. If you know where the damn key is at... tell me! Tell me which exact room to go to to find it... stop playing these damn games with me.

As far as Skyrim's Clairvoyance... watch what you ask for.

I didn't really like the spell to be honest.

No, these are not synonymes, but then there is OCPD

Self-diagnosed OCD. The most common type of OCD!

Unfortunately

OP and others making similar threads, why winding up yourselves and initiating anxiety while there is no need for it at all. If you  think you have OCD/OCPD then, please, seek help from the psychiatrist.

I agree on the sliding bit. The group seems to have no problem walking on walls outside of your control, but you literally have to slide on everything, including well etched paths. ..and trip over stones, and flowers. What's blocking you? The elfroot you just picked.. of course.

The 5th cache in Hinterlands is completely unaccessible. Not just partly. I spent an hour trying to get to it on one attempt at a playthrough, before I deleted in my initial stage of ftc, after discovering the grindfest. The second time I spent 20 minutes trying to get to it, and just gave up. I'm about 100% certain the area is actually offset, and 20 feet higher than it should be, or the hill-rock is anyway. i.e.: It's a terrain glitch on the PC.

But the pathing/slopes, etc.. are about enough to drive you mad, when you slip everywhere, and your character is just gimping along like a stumbling drunk, everywhere. Especially Storm Coast, which has a lot of hills.

Pass the Prozac will you?

Excuse me? Is it a 'joke' about me possibly taking medication or problem with me saying what I have said? If the latter then I don't understand, No orthopedist nor vet will help. Psychiatrist->psychologist, this is how the order of visitation should look. If it is the former then ha-ha.

Rarr!!!

I find myself doing spiteful things like this as well when a game/quest pisses me off!

I denied Vivienne's personal quest because, well, she's a @#$%^, I don't like her, and she didn't ask nicely.  Screw her.  I wish I could evict her from the room she set up in my castle lobby, maybe toss her down in the dungeon....
