Hook & Tackle has horrible damage, actually. The only potential benefit is that it can be upgraded to have cooldown or stamina cost. It's main use in my build is mobility.

I agree. I with poison had some kind of utility effect. I think Weaken would honestly be most logical, as they can't hit as hard if they are being poisoned, right?

There's actually synergy from the damage from Hook and the passive Bloodied Prey that does +10% damage to an enemy whose current health is less than your own.

Also, how useful do you guys find Death From Above on a close-range Hunter build?

Useless. I rarely find myself 2 metres above the enemy since I tend to be in really close. Someone once said that Leaping Shot triggers it, but that is quite untrue, unfortunately. Death From Above tends to work better if you want to play a longer-ranged Hunter (like say, a Full Draw / Explosive Shot / Leaping Shot / Stealth build).

Instead, On The Razor's Edge is the quintessential passive for this build if you have enough critical chance to not need Knife in the Shadows. In the video, I build for the latter to illustrate for players that are a bit newer (which is likely a good portion of my viewers), but I throw in Razor's Edge as an optional so people know it's still quite useful.

Keep in mind, I made this build for a specific role and play style. I am not claiming it to be the "best" build for the Hunter, nor will I make such a claim about any other build I do, because there is no such thing. There is simply the right tool for the job you need.

Whaaat? Someone making a guide based off one of their builds that doesn't claim it's the best and only build for that kit? Preposterous!

I actually have received tons of messages of people thanking me for not calling something a "best" build. Apparently, it annoys everyone else just as much as it annoys me.

i use exactly this build when i get hunter

it is fun for threatening, but on perilous . either end up with no damage or dead

it is fun to travel from one place to other  inside group of archers and throwing toxic

i usually die after  toxic cloud before leaping shot to escape.

it can work if there is a barrier and you do hook after someone draw the aggressive

hook if i remember correct ,the damage actually is around 300% weapon damage(not shown on stats) not bad consider no stamina/CD.

the problem is the animation is quite long.you need to wait for the chain hit

make sure you hit something, or you end up standing still and wait the chain come back.

it should be around 15-20m just don't throw it in a extremely long distance.

toxic cloud resultant damage from 2 hits add together is around 150-180% . probably multiplicative from the status menu

get bonus from stealth only the 1st 2 hits.

sounds great ? but when i found out i can use explosive shot do critical damage and get more than 1000 damage from 2 hits without any danger from distant

i give up this build.

My first rule in running this Hunter in Perilous (which I have done a lot), is timing. Timing is key. If you want to pull off the combo I outlined, you have to start Hook and Chain precisely as the tank pulls aggro, and latch on to an archer in the back line, not a melee enemy.

It is very tricky, and requires a bit of practice, and knowing your team. I mean that last bit as in observing the behaviors of the people in your party, even if they are PUGs. Are they reserved or aggressive? Selfish or team players? Et cetera, et cetera.

I prefer fallback plan over hook and tackle.

Lay your marker down, stealth, and get into a good poison cloud position.  You can either use poison and retreat immediately using fallback (you pull and extract safely), or allow a tank to pull and then use the marker if its needed.

Also, fallback plan just gets better the more creative you get with it.

I actually experimented with a build like this, but I used Hook and Tackle, Fallback Plan, Toxic Cloud, and Stealth. H&T in, drop poison, Fallback out. I found it allows you to really maximize the duration of Fallback Plan.

I wholeheartedly believed that the hunter was the most boring MP class out there, but I gave this build a shot and it really makes the hunter one of the most fun to play class. I don't know why, but I get a kind of Boba Fett vibe from playing this.

75/80 kill gold medals are above average what I normally get on other classes, so it is definitely powerful.

A Leaping Shot + Stealth powered crits, with 3 arrows hitting the same target up close doing 1,2k dmg each, even stronger foes just melt.

A when you get a toxic cloud up up and running in a bottle-necked doorway, it just keeps on going, especially nice on stage 5.

I agree that timing is key, you can easily suicide if you do it the wrong way. Griffon bow feels like a must have, which my be the build's only downside, in maybe that is not accessible to everybody.

I've been having too much fun with this build to promote http://da-skills.net...010,001a1,B1D,0 but I'll try out toxic cloud next time. I haven't been blown away with it on the alchemist but with more damage on a bow class it might be great. Thanks for the guide :)

Oh there's a skill builder now?  Sweet spicy awesomesauce!

As I said in the video, the Griffon bow certain takes this build and playstyle to a much higher level, but actually there is something to be said for any bow with higher pure damage, as it will make your Toxic Cloud more powerful. I use the Griffon bow, but I would not say it's essential, per se.

That's been around for a long time now. Very useful for plotting potential builds. It does not have damage calculations like the ME3MP class builder I used long ago, sadly.
