What are some of your play quirks? What I mean by this is the game has its gameplay set, but you can control how you use it, etc. Not just in the way combat works, but the story and everything else.

I will give you some examples of mine (the first is the most recent, which inspired this post)

I acquired the Sulevin Blade from some elven ruins. Iron Bull is my only 2 handed warrior and I thought about using it on him, but it just didn't seem to match his style, so I left him with an Axe that isn't quite as good (quirk 1). Then tonight my character drunk of the well of sorrows. His head is now full of old elven lore. I've been sword and shield spec the whole game, but then I got the idea that I could use the spirit of the elves, and knowledge gained, as an excuse to respec to two handed warrior and use the Elven Sulevin Blade as my weapon. (quirk 2, needing a story reason before I did such a thing.)

Another example is I don't like to fast travel often or unrealistically. I will not jump to the western approach, just do one or two things, and teleport back to Skyhold when I see a war table notification is ready. I have to stick it out a while, because the trip takes a long time.

If I had walk toggle, there are several key moments I would be walking for sure.

If something urgent is happening, I try not to stop and gather ore along the way.

Those are just a few, mostly based on role playing. Is anyone else like that?

My biggest one is NO POTS. I leanred RPG as a part of a guild in another game back in the late 80's/early 90's that considered using any potions, gernades, etc.. cheating and, a demonstration of your lack of skill so, I still do not pot in RPG games. If I have to pot, I either need to hone my skills, adjust my tactics or, level up, or a bit of all of them.

I don't fast travel unless there is no way to walk there, always enter a map at ti initial camp. There is a portal magically created there in my RP, but ONLY there. I can only enter or leave the area via that portal so, want to go to Skyhold, I have to walk back to the initial camp.

My cannon Quizzy is a male elf who dos not even believe in the Maker, he also does not belive the elven gods are/were actually gods and thinks they were simply the wisest and most powerful of the ancient elves and, of course they are immortal but, all ancient elves are immortal. He's out to find more of them but, has to find Arlathan first and, so far clues are sparse but, he can't skip a single milimeter of any Elven ruins - migh be a subtle clue there he would miss if he were not careful.

He is a naturalist, would rather not wear shoes or even clothing but, he's no fool and so wears armor. I imagine him wearing clothing only because visiting nobles would disaprove too much if he did not in Skyhold.

I always play as Dalish and I never desecrate the grave yard even tho I know it keep me from getting into a temple. I won't do it.

I also feel really guilty breaking into the other temples. In the end I was prepared to kill Morrigan from drinking from the well if I had to.

I always wear Elven armour and so forth.

Never give any credence to the Chantry or ANY of its rules/mythos.

Makes the game seem more genuine to me.

I don't take loot from people's homes (barring extraordinary circumstances) if I'm playing someone who wouldn't steal...which is always.

I ALWAYS reload when a paraphrase doesn't meet my expectation. It can make my first play through obnoxious, but I consider it part of learning the game.

I never wear armor from other factions. If I'm not a Warden I shouldn't be wearing Warden armor. I am the Inquisition. I should wear Inquisition armor.

This x10.

Except we shouldn't HAVE to do this. If bioware would go back to listing the full text like in DAO like a proper rpg then we wouldn't have to.
It's really absurd and one of the many things that ****** me off about "new bioware".

My Inqusitor Trevelyan doesn't wear any headgear until he kills The Greater Mistral dragon and acquires the Helm Of The Inqusitor.

Same here but mainly because I don't find any of the available headgear suitable for a female inq heavy hitter.

My biggest quirk is that Im an obsessive completionist. Which makes me must always choose and reload and again choose the dialogue that gives me the most companion approval :S

I am also an inveterate roleplayer. I will often use weapons or wear armor and other accessories even when I have something better because it's got sentimental value. My City Elf Warden in Origins wore her wedding ring until she consummated her romance with Alistair, then she finally took it off and replaced it with a different ring (completed the whole game wearing Adaia's Boots, too, and coming up with some elaborate headcanon about her mother and the time she almost became a Grey Warden).

In Inquisition, even though everyone told me that Celene was about to die, I beelined for Adamant - because the Sixth Blight's gonna happen eventually, and when it does, it's Wardens or we all die. As an elf, she also chose the mages solely because it looked like the Vints were establishing slavery in the South, and hell eff no is that going to happen on her watch.

I also drag Solas and Sera with me every time we go see the Dalish in the Exalted Plains, because, dammit, it's important to learn about your heritage!

If I'm a dual wielding rogue, both daggers absolutely, or at least, NEEEEED to look the same. I honestly can't tolerate one dagger being an AoE looking one (with the the slashing edge) and the other looking like the daggers you initially get as a DW rogue (single target stabbing one).

If I play as a (loyal) Dalish then I never desecrate the graveyard in the Exalted Plains.

Although this one is more for rpgs in general, I never use the fast travel function if I can help it. The only game where this has been a problem is Dragon's Dogma since it gets to be extremely tedious.

I always save before chatting with each companion so I can reload and try out all dialogue options before settling with the one I like.

I also save like a maniac. I make fresh new saves often just in case I need to jump back to an earlier point. Needless to say, I ran out of saves in the cloud space do I just save on my PC now.

So far I've only play Trevelyan Inquisitors. A Champion Warrior and a Knight Enchanter.

My tanking play style is generally the same in MMOs and RPGs, I will usually just charge on in and use the element of surprise. My friends usually describe my strange tanking method as a whirlwind of destruction. Lots of tab targeting, attacks flying everywhere, cooldowns popped and so on. In SWTOR and WoW that translates to a chain pulling tank that won't let the dps pull first. In Inquisition that means I like to knock down lines of people with charging bull followed by taunting and proceeding to wet noodle punch people while my team goes to town on them.

My dps play style is a little different. I still charge in, using fade step to close gaps, followed by fade cloak and any number of attacks. I generally just like using fade step to move around the field, sometimes in different directions.

Female Elvin Mage is always my first playthrough, with an emphasis on AoE dps and cc.

I like to keep my character "in character" even if that might cut against the grain of how I would behave in the real world. My Dalish Inquisitor isn't going to desecrate ancient elvish graves for a loot grab, and will probably run through several ancient elvish rituals even when that really pisses off her girlfriend.  On the other hand, my Carta Dwarf probably doesn't give a s*** (so loot away and lets hurry and jump those templars).

I have an obsessive need to use all of my party members, so I tend to spec their gear and abilities for specific types of enemies.  I also try to keep those specs consistent with the character (so Casandra gets the demon-slaying rune, Blackwall and Varric are speced against corrupted, etc).  I find my self going out of my way to avoid quest areas or enemy groups until I have the exact party I want for that particular mission.  Occasionally, I'll break this rule, but for the most part I'm not going to take on a fade rift with Blackwall or a horde of Red Templars with Cas.

If I'm playing a kind-hearted character (typically my first few playthroughs at least) than we are saving everybody (sorry Stroud, but you're going to have to hole up in the cave a little longer. The Inquisition has to deal with this zombie-village problem).

I tend save more before cut scenes than difficult battles. Story continuity before safety as it were.  Also, with autosave, games don't typically punish the player for not saving compulsively before battles anymore.  I find story choices are much easier to screw up.

I dont like leaving a map with rift still open . even if I have already like 30 in power....

I dont care....blinkie on my map annoy me like hell .

I like to pick everything...everything . Loot , plants....watever is on the ground .

I would have loved to have a Lvl indication for some Map . I know Main quest have a Lvl indication but once ya get Skyhold ya unlock many more map...and well..the only way to know is to go there . And thats kinda a bummer.....for me .

I love playing a Mage . I tried Rogue and warrior and I keep going back to my Mage . Once I'm confy with a speciality like Rift its hard to try something else....

I love doing the same quest in the same order...make it feel like it goes faster . And save me from back tracking .

I save too much...I actually run out of saveeeeeeeeeeeeee..................

If I run into dialogue that seems ambiguous I reload it several times.

I like my IQ to be snarky and a bit of a smartass. Because that's what she was at the Circle in Ostwich.

With my play style I usually roll Cassandra, a rogue, and two mages. I control Cassandra to gather up mobs. Hate generation is really wonky in this game, and sometimes mobs run off after a war cry, which makes it annoying. I also am cheap. Like, I'm a total cheesy player. If I find a ledge that'd give me an advantage hell yeah I'll exploit it. I hate ranged attacks so run around boulders and trees with my mage haha.

I purposely avoid reloading conversations or other choices. I do what I think my character would do and if things go badly, I accept it and keep going.

I will refuse to do quests for various RP reasons.

This applies to me as well. I didn't wear the Legacy Warden armor in DA2 and I don't wear it in DAI either.

Yep, same here. It really bugs me, I just can't do it. X) Too bad too because some of that armor is among the best in the game!

Play style quirks? Does it count that I alway light all torches, braziers etc.. I can find regardless of whether they're needed for anything?

Also, I keep the "hide helmets" option on until I've found headgear that fits my character (quite often this is the Overseer Cowl), after that I use the side effect of the CheatEngine "Skyhold Outfit" script to keep the headgear on even in some conversations.

I also reload conversations if something went wrong due to misleading paraphrases, but I don't count that as a quirk, but as a regrettable necessity, made unavoidable because of Bioware's stubborn refusal to give me accurate information about what my character is going to say. Doesn't happen as often as in the ME games, but still often enough to be annoying.

I always pick my party in a specific order. My main tank will be the first I pick. Then, if I'm a mage, the third member will be a rogue and vice versa. Anyone can go in the middle.

I have to fill in the maps. Any dark spot, no matter how small, I go fill it in.

Putting Warden armour on Solas, makes me all sorts of giggly, especially when he ends up wearing it through the Warden plot. Sort of the same as making Vivienne wear ugly boy pants.

Conversations are probably the only reason i save in DAI, it's not only about the context of the conversation to me. Sometimes I want to reply aggressively or witty and there are moments where the actor voice or the animation are just wrong, also imo some lines lead to a better dialogue flow, so I test and reload.

Other than that:

I always play as female.

I skip good gear if it's fugly (makes this game kind of challenging).

I always talk to my companions once per camp visit, ie if the conversation leads me to an end, I don't initiate a new dialogue.

I jump on roofs and from walls in Skyhold (I wish I could do this in rl without any consequences)
