Honestly, I still think it's kinda strange how sexualization is such a hot topic in gaming right now as some sort of proof that women characters have it worse, because it 'objectifies' them. Yet nothing is ever mentioned of the droves upon droves of nameless men we kill in every other game. Which actually fills far more of the criteria of objectification. It's probably because sex is far more taboo than violence (something i'll never understand) in western society, especially stateside.
Killing things in pretty mandatory in most of games. I don't see it as killing men as gender at least when you kill pretty much everything.
And yes people have problems with that but that's mostly non-gamers: those who don't want their children to play GTA etc.
I don't think sexualization would be as big topic if male and female characters would be equally sexualized in games or even better some written as sexy characters in way that would fit the environment and their personality and some not.

Thank ya, I mentioned the men getting killed thing too, but of course it's ignored. All of it is bullshit. No one complains about this because somehow people get that killing males in games is entertainment... lol.. but banging random skanks is somehow worse....
bah bah blacksheep bullshit.

Are those men wearing sexy outfits?
I thought so. Nobody cares as long as you don't show some skin.
But I like how some can't seem to accept women being confident about their sexuality.
"Men are studs, women are *****." This is just silly.

See post above that one. People rarely see a problem with anything when it's happening to men. It's different when it's women.
For the record, I don't have a problem with it, but you apparently do, when poorly written female characters are used for one purpose, and apparently only sex related.
But somehow you don't see anything similar to no named or poorly written joes being put in just to be killed, which sounds much worse than your "sexual objectification" problem.
It makes you a hypocrite.

Tell me about it. European games tend to have more nudity and are more liberal when it comes to sex. While on the states, you can cut an man in half and spill his guts on the screen, but if we see an breast, the media goes ballistic. I never understood why americans are so over the top prude about these things.
I don't think it's just the sex on it's own though. Bioware gets a free pass on their sex scenes because it's "twoo love" whereas others (like the Witcher) depict sex for what it really is. Something that can be selfish, carnal, done for pleasure etc. Some people aren't comfortable with sex being depicted as something that just happens, as naturally as breathing and eating. It doesn't help that TW is incredibly straight male centric in it's worldview. Given western society's current war on anything masculine or aimed at guys (whether it's videogames, films, careers, mansplaining, manspreading or any number of things) it's not really surprising.

I wish I could remember the name of it but this conversation (at least the part about men mostly being killing fodder) is reminding me a lot of a video I watched of someone talking about this is some kind of vampire movie, pointing out that the main character only fought/killed monsters and men never fought other women. This is going to bug me until I can remember where I saw that video now it was pretty interesting despite that only be touched briefly on from what I recall.

You know, I don't think I can play video games anymore. What with how unwelcome I feel due to the objectification of my gender, using them as prey to slaughter for entertainment. Why, it's downright terrifying, really. Games don't give a **** about men. Hell, even Bioware had Orlesians treating Cullen like a piece of meat.... I can't stand for this any longer. I'm done gaming.

Especially when no, women getting killed in games is not proportional to males at all.

I don't know what games you play. But I see everything I kill similarly especially if they are nameless enemies that go towards me. I kill women and men alike (well that sounds wrong but in game sense). Only thing I have problem killing in games is cute animals that make sound when they die, that makes me feel like s.hit.
The games I play often have more equal gender ratios of enemies. Last week I have played LoL (equal gender ratio), Pokemon (equal gender ratio of animals killing each other) and Atelier: Meruru (killing animals whose genders I don't get info about).
If they do have more men, well have you thought why that is? Because female characters aren't good enough to be even random villains. Because ubisoft says they can't animate women, that it will take them more time.
Yes, please game devs, give us more female characters to kill. I very much support that. Maybe we will get well-written female villains then.

Look at GTA V. Which has been banned (in selected stores) because people said it promotes violence against women.
At no point in the main storyline does the game force you to kill a woman, yet there's only one or two missions where you DON'T have to murder multiple men. Throughout the game's story you kill, torture, threaten men with rape etc but because you can sleep with prostitutes and then kill them (all COMPLETELY OPTIONAL btw) the game somehow treats women far worse.

I have to stop playing Inquisition. My female Qunari Inquisitor has a fat cameltoe. This is misogyny working its evil.

Killing men in games isn't seen as a problem because there are varied representations of men in those games. Yes, some men exist just to be killed, but you are usually playing as a man and interacting with other men who have various other roles and don't exist only to die.
Likewise one female character dressing sexy because it suits her character is fine. Every female character existing just to be sexy IS a problem.

HA! Equal ratio my ASS. Even bioware doesn't have an equal ratio.
And gaming as a whole certainly doesn't have an equal ratio either.

There's varied representations of women too, people just focus on the negatives, as always.
And how is that a problem even if it were true, in a dang videogame meant for entertainment?
Why is everyone afraid of sex?

I googled it and following games didn't come up... But anyway, no I really don't honestly care if more women are put into gaming or not. I don't care about any of that. What I do care about is having games with more well written characters in general.
The rest will come naturally. No need to arbitrarily push for inclusiveness in a field meant to entertain. Writing is getting better, more diverse interesting characters will come as well. Which includes Witcher btw, and Witcher 2 has improved on things you've criticized,

Misogyny at it's worst right there. It's obviously some social commentary on how ALL women are total airheads that haven't even got enough agency to be in control of their own bodies.
