First point, well yeah, it's a major factor, only makes you look stupid to be condescending about a fact

Second point was anecdotal and based mainly on what I've been told by people who are more into fashion more than me.

Yes and women are attracted to feminine men over masculine one's ^^

But seriously we don't live in jungle anymore. Fertility doesn't matter when large amount of couples don't even want children ^^;

That doesn't mean our subconscious coding is any different.

You can take the monkey out the jungle, but you can't escape years and years of evolution. Obviously it's not a rule, but as he said, it plays a role.

Does it however affect more than individual preferences and social views? Not really, if you see trends on what has been considered attractive for both gender in different places along history they have differed a lot, body type included and fertily isn't hold in very high regard in lot of times.

What society holds up as fashionably beautiful a lot of the times doesn't actually reflect what people are going after. You see that now. Sure, a lot of people are obsessed with finding the ideal according to society, but the majority of people aren't like that. Biology takes care of the rest.

Does anyone else feel like all of these different categories are getting out of control?  It's starting to feel like how metal sub-genres frequently sound like parodies.

"Progressive post-metalcore, haha, good one, sounds like it could almost be a real oh wait you were being serious."

Don't worry, I fall under one of these newfangled categories, so I can say this.

Yes, totally.

What gender is dog, anyway?

What's her/his sexual orientation?

Is it a male homogender demisexual?

Or something else entirely?

The dog from the Human Noble origin is a male. The Warden's dialogue constantly refers to him as "boy", if not by his name.

And judging from his interest in Morrigan's undergarments, he's a straight shooter, that one, lol.

Dog is the crustiest vato... I've ever witnessed! So don't hush his gig... buuuuudy. Owwwwww!

So many questions. But totally missing the most important one.

Is Dog a romance option?

I noticed about ten or so pages back a bunch of female gamers saying how they are not attracted to Geralt.

How is this different than all of the male players saying that they're not attracted to Cassandra or Josephine?

It's not?

I'm not attracted to Geralt either, but I think it would silly to not play the game just because I find the protagonist fugly. It's perfectly fine to not like a characters appearance, the problem is when you think you're owed something because of it. I have no problem with most of the guys complaining about Cass and Josie, just the minority who scream about how Bioware messed up just because they didn't cater to their particular taste.

That being said, I will never understand why some people find Cassandra unattractive.

Guy can't look any creepier than the game. What puts me off mostly is his horrible hair design. It's like he's got a mop for hair.

But in fanart and TV series....

agenders (people who don't identify as any gender), also known as genderless, nongendered etc, aren't that much different from asexuals in that just as asexuals don't have sexual feelings, agenders just....don't fully identify with the traditional male/female identity.  there are more than just 2 gender identities, something not a lot of people realise.  in addition to the male, female and agender identities, if you imagine that male and female are on complete opposite sides of the gender spectrum, you have a whole range of gender identities inbetween, which would include genderqueer or non-binary identities, which are more like umbrella terms for those who do not identify as cisgender.  agender lies completely out of that spectrum.

i, myself, still find all the terms confusing, but i tried to make my explanation as simple as possible.  i'm not very good at explaining though >___<

The thing that irks me about that whole "gender spectrum" thing is that while I ID as male, I have some traits our society pretends are feminine.  So what? That's called being human.  I just feel like if we'd all stop trying to label each other, we'd be a lot happier just accepting that there is no real "male" or "female" way of being, there's just what we are.

But I was raised in the 70s; it's entirely possibly I'm just being a grumpy middle-aged guy.

Why is it so hard to understand? You don't get turned on unless you really know the person. Like a demisexual person would not enjoy a hook-up. *whispers* I can personally attest to this lol

I just don't get why that has to be a sexuality.  It's just a way of setting oneself apart from others, and it isn't necessary, IMHO.

You're a desire demon, so you're player sexual :P

LOL

In an absurd turn, I'm annoyed by the way desire demons are done in this game.  As a bi guy, it never bothered me that they only presented as scantily clad women, but I hoped, when Dorian mentioned a desire demon and called it a "he," that the game might recognize he and I were in a relationship and then make the desire demons we ran into hot-looking men.

Sadly, it just looks like that giant lump of demon they all look like.  Bleah.

That doesn't make any sense. I thought it was something completely normal no matter one's sexuality.

Wait to just clarify. You don't mean "dog" the companion from dragon age origins, just simply misspelling the word dog?

You must not be American.  Here, the word "dawg" is a feature of AAVE, and is another way of saying "dude" in some populations.  Mostly used by urban kids into hip-hop.

The way that it's different, in my mind, is that the women (and guys) who are saying that we don't find Geralt attractive aren't posting that on the official boards and demanding (or even politely asking, to be honest) that Geralt gets a make-over to look more attractive.  Or that they add in DLC to create more guys that are attractive.  There's no problem with just not finding a character attractive.  It's the entitlement and the conspiracy theories that make the situations different, as I see it.

Now, I'll be honest, since I'm not a fan of the series, I don't go on their official boards, so I'm not sure if there are people over there doing it.  If they are, then, yes, it's the same as the complaints about Cass and Josie.

I agree with you--but there is a belief in our culture (here in the US, at any rate) that says we all feel instantly attracted to pretty people.  I don't think that's necessarily true.  I see hot men or women, and I know they're hot, but I'm not instantly aroused, which is what the demisexuals I've talked to seem to think is happening.  *shrug*

I do think this game has the weirdest and least appealing romance options yet. I do say this as a straight male, but I've played female characters and gay characters in Bioware games before. The only character I really find attractive enough, physically and personality-wise, is Sera. I'm romancing Cassandra (or trying to) as my current Inquisitor is straight.

Everybody else? Bleeeeh. Iron Bull, um, gross. Also, Freddie Prinze Jr. Dorian's a bit too smarmy for a relationship, although I like the character. Josephine seems like a total non-entity to me. Solas... mmmmaybe, but if I roll a female elf I'll probably go after Sera. Am I forgetting someone? Oh, Cullen. Well again, if I do get around to making a female I would definitely favor Sera, most likely.

Anyway. I think the next game should have a skinny blonde with enormous breasts who's very virginal but becomes wanton in the presence of the main character. Just to play against playing against stereotypes, you know?

If she were an elf, I suspect she'd be one of the most popular LI's ever.  Seriously.

Yeah... sh*t's just going too far.

Before reading those previous posts about "demisexuality" "ahomogender" (or whatever it was), I'd never heard of these terms.

I simply just assumed that... some people like to sleep with anything that walks (like Isabela) and others like to get to know the person and develop an emotional connection before engaging in sex... didn't think there was anything scientific or technical about it. I just thought it depended on your own preferences.

It can be just preference, absolutely. There are people who prefer to wait for a variety of reasons and there are people who prefer casual sex for a variety of reasons. But that isn't just determined by preference. There are also people who are wired that way. Just like a gay man can't find women sexually attractive, there are people who can't find someone sexually attractive until the strong emotional bond is formed.

That just sounds like a bunch of people wanting to feel special.

That's too bad because my standards of pretty might not match others' standards of pretty.

And I certainly don't have instant wet dreams if I see some good looking guy.

The things some people come up with...

Maybe get Kelly Cuoco to be the model and voice too, like that actress did for Miranda in Mass Effect?

Mainstream nerd boner swarm, for great justice and the win.

You're welcome, Bioware. 10% of the profits would do nicely.
