I thought they usually do this as a joke?

How can you get hit on by a straight dude tho? Isn't he supposed to be interested in women usually and not men? :P

Unless he just compliments you, which that's fine. I can appreciate a dude's compliment too if it's tasteful enough and not the type of "you got a great arse or ******". If it's a woman tho i wouldn't mind because reasons ok.

Yea I guess people here have had different experiences, but just saying "Damn that ass is fat, yo," just makes you sound like a fratboy douche anyway and isnt going to open up any sort of flirting between you and anyone.

As for dudes, sometimes they do it as a joke to friendly say that someone looks good in their outfit without sounding gay. LOL straight guys are very sensitive about that. Like how women compliment each other? Guys do it too, lol, except making it sound gay ironically makes it okay because its presented as a joke. Make sense? It's stupid as hell, but the male is a very interesting animal.

Well do you feel safe walking your dog at 9PM when its dark outside? Cause I sure don't. And only potential threat there at that time for me are men so I pretty much side-eye every men passing by, looking for possible escape routes. It might sound weird for not woman, I doubt every woman either feels same as I but let's just say that I won't risk it.

No, which is why I keep my knife on me in my pocket so I can cut any motherfucker that tries something. Quit making assumptions.

Romances in this game are so meh I don't get why everyone so worked up.

look on DA:O or Mass Effect, your romance choice have effect on the entire series.

Here it's like bioware decided to have some nude Witcher stlye for no reason... Cassandra romance was utter meh.. though I was having great time to make fun of her and varric books.

Personally I don't do it either. People are different.

Note that this is almost always when women aren't around, in my experience.

What imperative is there for you to express your attraction to a woman in public unsolicited at all?  What will happen if you just think to yourself, oh, she's cute, and then carry on with your day?  Women do not always need to hear about someone finding us attractive at every single possible opportunity, particularly since there is every likelihood that she is not interested in reciprocating.

I pass men on the street all the time who I think are good looking.  I glance, I think, 'wow, nice', I move on.  I do not impose on him, I do not approach him, I do not make comments, I do not try to touch.  Finding someone attractive in no way gives you a pass to behave however you want towards someone, and they do not owe you one iota of their time simply for existing in a manner which is pleasing to you.

Are you one of those people who thinks every dude that holds a door open for you is trying to sleep with you? That's the only reason I think someone would compare an honest compliment with absolutely no threatening intention to harassment.

 That's called paranoia.

And yes men can feel this way too.

I am so guilty of this. I saw a street singer in Spain with the most beautiful green eyes and the nicest goatee. Almost like Dorian. I dragged my boyfriend to him and told him exactly what i thought of his eyes. And from his expression i think he appreciated it more than the 77 euros we dropped on his guitar case.

1 - nobody has said compliments should be banned

2 - compliments and catcalling are not the same thing

3 - any guy that thinks a women who dresses nice is asking for attention is full of himself. She is probably dressing nice for herself or showing skin because the weather is hot, or because those just happened to be the first clothes she pulled out of the wardrobe. Not because she wanted random guys to yell "get your ****** out" at her!

4 - no one has called for a double standard where women should be allowed to do this to men

Who could possibly be offended by cat calling?

I compliment myself in the mirror all the time. It might make me look gay, but that fabulous dude looking back at me never seems to care.

It's hot out, so I decided to wear a cute skirt that easily gives guys a glance at my panties. Totally not seeking attention.

If anyone's that hot, I suggest getting some ac and staying inside.

1. The issue is some women are saying a simple unwanted compliment is harassment, it's not, if you say it's are you are just being dense.

2. Some women do dress for compliments, I literally just asked a group of five girls on campus, and 3( more than half) said they sometimes do.

3. Then why don't I ever hear about women crusading against men who experience the same harassment? I haven't seen any female on this thread do so.

Idk what you are talking about. I also wear my speedo when it's hot out... because well it's hot out...

Because sports shorts are just too hot for those hot days, you know?

some guys are excusively only attracted to dogwalkers who wear parkas though.

But wait you are saying if you are unwashed and not done up and someone compliments you.. that would be wrong?

....? So as men we are supposed to be appalled by natural beauty, and only warrant a compliment when a woman is all done up?

Who said that some women cant be nice to look at wearing weĺlies? If it happened to you then you must look good on it. It sure as hell did not happen to me.

Point was that when I'm out walking my dog I'm not exactly dressing up for attention. I don't want people to hit on me, I just want to walk my dog in peace.

And yes, I happen to think that I look fine in wellingtons. But I wouldn't call them sexy xD

LOL legit talk, if you told me you went out in your speedo anywhere but the beach, I'd think you lived here in South Carolina, lol.

Actually, some people really do do that here. Too lazy to change after going to the beach. It's hilarious.

You just said some women dress for COMPLIMENTS, not CATCALLING. Different thing.

You probably don't hear about women campaigning for men who get the same harassment because they don't know about it. I just said its bad either way.

I certainly don't dress to get men to shout obscene things at me as I walk down the road. Doesn't stop them. And I'm usually only wearing a random T-shirt and jeans.

I've seen plenty of guys walking around in shorts during summer. No one ever tells them they are asking for it.

I'm not afraid to walk down the street at night - but I've been told I should be my entire life.

I'm sure women dress up, wear makeup and have high heels on when they're at home just watching TV by themselves just for the sake of it. They totally don't do that only when they're going out to impress other women and gain attention from the opposite sex....

RE: Cat calling, women who complain about them while they're young will miss them when they're older and their looks have faded to the point that they're invisible to the opposite sex.  What mother nature gives, father time takes away after all...
