I would work up the left side of the Spirit tree with her, and give her upgraded Immolate and work up the passives in the Inferno tree.

Once she has the Knight Enchanter passive that generates barrier whenever she deals damage, you'll want her to have Rejuvinating Barrier from Spirit tree because it gives increased mana regen while barrier is active.

And the Inferno tree is great for Knight Enchanters because of the passives. Clean Burn and Chaotic Focus are amazing with Knight Enchanters. The former reduces cooldown whenever you cast (including use of Spirit Blade, which is spammable), and the latter consumes 50% barrier in exchange for additional damage, which is amazing since Knight Enchanters have practically infinite barrier.

So, to summarise, give her:

Spirit

Barrier

Peaceful Aura

Dispel

Rejuvenating Barrier

Inferno

Immolate + Wildfire

Flashpoint

Clean Burn

Winter

Fade Step

Then once you have KE tree, give her:

Knight Enchanter

Spirit Blade

Combat Clarity

Fade Shield

After which you should give her:

Inferno

Chaotic Focus

After that, get other things like Knight-Protector, Energy Barrage + Energy Bombardment, Conducive Current, Frost Step, etc. Whatever you want.

Fire and Ice. Fire to restore her barrier and ice for crowd control. Also, Spirit.

Maxing out left part of the Knight Enchanter skill tree kills a lot of fun. You become invincible. Every strike restores your barrier. You don´t need any warriors in your team any more.

Forget using any AI Knight Enchanter an absoultely useless class, and also the Necromancer which is totally bugged. The AI simply cannot play them at all.

I say K/E is useless, because the Ai cannot play them properly at all. Personally I wouldn't either I have better things to do when playing as a caster than endlessly casting one spell.

Solas. Riftmage all points in Rift, are super awesome cool, when selecting direct control, combined with full Spirit. Some Ice Frost Grasp, Mana regen, he is now a real killing machine. I take him to every fight..

Every mage needs a full Spirit tree. Your later choice of which elementals to master afterwards. For the K/E focus ability Rejuvenation, and better barriers. Worth investing, using, some of the Knight Enchanter points. Disruption Feild top tier is quite useless.

Fire: Has the most damage bursts, but also alot of enemies are immune. Spec using a full Fire tree as every spell has massive damage potential.

Ice: is a good choice for better Mana Regen, and Frost Grasp. Fade Step can be more trouble then its worth, forget about top tiers Ice Wall, Blizzard, and Ice Mines.

Lightning: Barrage, Chain Lightning, are really good damage. Static Feild, Lightning Bolt, top tiers are mostly useless, although some of the abilities around those skills are quite useful..

You get her spirit blade, make it the top priority skill of hers along with barrier.

The only times the AI will fail you is against large targets (ie: Dragons) where melee attacks have a tendency to never be in range at times, stuck in a perpetual moving forward motion to try to get into range, no matter how close you are, in which case, you'll see the AI resort to spamming basic staff attacks (which are largely useless). In those instances, you control her yourself (though if you're playing a knight enchanter mage as well, your Inquisitor will likely then default to his stupid behavior).
