While reading some topics about romances, I noticed that a lot more people romanced Cassandra than romanced Josephine.

I got the impression in the others games de difference in the numbers between people who romanced Morrigan/Leliana and Isabela/Merril was shorter than in DA:I.

So I wonder why this happened in DA:I. I doubt its because she is not a party member, because Cullen is a advisor and a lot of people romanced him.

So why you guys think it happened? To me I think she isn't very remarkable, I liked her conversations about politics, but when she started talking about herself or her family she bored me. I know its unfair to compare her past and family to Cassandra, but there was nothing interesting to me.

PS: this is not a topic on who is the better romance, if you think Josephine is the better its ok. I just want to know why more people romanced Cassandra than Josie.

It's because Josie doesn't put out.  I'm the only one honest enough to say it.  There, I just saved the thread about 500 posts worth of bickering.

Also, she isn't a party member but doesn't have the brand power of Cullen which is a huge blow to her potential romance output.  The mere mention of Cullen will make some girls on here drop their panties instantly whether he's a party member or not.

I think it's down to what people think would be the canon romance as most story-related context. I think Cass being party member does contribute in it, Cullen's case is different cause he was liked long before DAI so that contributed to amount that romanced him. Also Josie might be too sweet or innocent for some people but this I'm just guessing.

Josephine isn't really a multifaceted character. Her big reveal is that she once killed a dude in self defense. Big whoop. There's no real character depth you get for your investment into a romantic relationship.

Also, I hate her VA and the Antivan accent in general.

Those are my reasons.

This maybe a factor, but i doubt its the only one, when I started the game, I didnt know she had no sex scenes, and I think a lot of people didnt know too.

That people more find Cass' romance more engaging is clear  :D , but I want to know the why they found Cass more engaging than Josie.

Then why did you state that this isn't a topic on who is the better romance?

Josey doesn't really have a big character development. She stays the same old polite girl from beginning to the end of the game. She is too much of a perfect disney princess in a dark world. Now Cassandra, she goes through this whole questioning her faith phrase. She doesn't know if she is doing the right thing or just a madwoman driven by action without thinking of the consequence. Despite all of her flaws, she is determined to keep moving on even if no one is by her side to support her.

I dont want to know who is the better romance, its a matter of perspective anyway, I want to know why a lot more people romanced Cass over Josie, especially when in the past games it was more even between the LI  ;) .

It's a fantasy game and Cassandra is an ass-kicking fantasy warrior. You fight by her side throughout the game.

And... she's Cassandra!

Cassandra's a companion. She's also a recurring character having appeared in da2.
Josie's not a companion, coupled with being rather bland and plain imo.

Because Cassandra's more interesting in literally every way. Because everything Josephine has, Cassandra has a better version, right down to noble house.

Unfortunately, I just found Josephine to be really boring. I was even planning to romance her before playing the game, but that's not going to happen now. I actually just stopped talking to her at one point.

EDIT: I'll also add that I went into the game not expecting to like Cass very much. But I ended up loving her, and loving her VA's performance, too. I plan to romance her with a female character if ever a mod is released.

IMO Cass is just a far more interesting character. Josie is fine and all, but nothing about her is appealing to me.

I've Been intriqued by Cass since long before I knew Josie even existed. She was my favourite part of DA2. Which probably says a lot about that game tbh.

Cullen gets more because his been the series for 3 straight games and has been fan favorite option for 5 years now.

People know him so much more and his already been fleshed out enough from DA2. Josie just shows up in this game and isn't even a companion. In terms of story, character or romance, she has nothing going for her for the majority of people.

Meh. It wasn't really difficult to be more interesting than Josephine as a romance in my opinion. * shrug *

( but she is awesome as our advisor )

Since none of the gay romance options appealed to me this time around and Cullen's sexuality was changed mid-development I decided to go with Josephine first and Cassandra during my second play-through. I like both characters and they're both rather distinct in my opinion.

If you mean in the bsn, yes there are; Out there, on other sites, I don't know. There are probably people who enjoyed her romance content when they tried, but fans of her, I haven't seen yet.

On the opposite, I have seen fans of Cass, but.... also many guys who do not find the female romances appealing to them at all. I am not certain we could say that they are a minority to be honest... xD

Cullen's sexuality wasn't changed mid development. There's also dialogue for Solas with male Inquisitors, and that certainly isn't a thing nor was it ever hinted at.

I can't speak to Cass, since I've not played a hetero male character (and likely won't).  But I have played a bisexual gal and Josie is just not very interesting.  I love the idea of the dual for her honor (especially with a female dwarf PC), but outside of that, she's just dull, dull, dull.  I wish she was more interesting.

The idea for the dual was good, but not the execution. Too dysney anime in my opinion.
