I liked romancing Josie. She's "safe" and when I played a straight guy, I made him your average, sane, nice guy.
Josephine was sane and intelligent so the relationship worked.
I like my gritty romances with IB just as much as I like my safe "keep me grounded" romances with Josie.

I'm definitely going to do a playthrough romancing Joeie. I accidently romanced both her and Cass in my first playthrough, which led to an interesting development after which I had to go break Josie's heart. Man, did I feel like a cad.
The romance is more charming than people think it is, although in future if they let us romance non companions, I thing they need to give us more quests and opportunities for interactions with them.
While Sers is a very interesting and well acted character, I don't see one of my characters romancing her, though. My inquisitor who got along with her best still found her too immature to even think of like that.
I'll always think that this should be the result of doing that:
I mean, Leliana did warn you not to hurt her.

As much as I like Josie, I have to agree with most of the thread here that she isn't that interesting.
While she has just as much content as any party member, she clearly suffers from the fact that she's an npc, unlike Cullen.

Why do you think he broke up with her? I mean, let's face it, Leliana would be the worst 'mother-in-law' ever. first big fight and there's an assassin behind the curtains waiting to cut your balls off. No thanks, lol.

Because your Inquisitor didn't want to live anymore apparently. ![]()
She would be sister-in-law, not mother-in-law. That's assuming we get to marry Josephine in a DLC, but considering how Bioware has treated that institution lately I doubt it. ![]()
As for cutting your balls off, no that would be Isabela if you hurt Merrill. She literally makes that exact threat.

The choice of making her a Disney princess was not too bad but the choice of making her romance juvenile and lacking any sexual charge for no bettet reason than "we thought this was best for you" is idiotic in my opinion.
Liara was innocent....Tali was innocent....Josie was innocent
Of the three only Josie's romance seems lifted from a children show
And I say this even tho she us my romance of choice

So...no boobies = juvenile? Really?
Maybe she's the type that believes in marriage before sex. Is that a bad thing? No.
I'm all for free sexual expression. I love Iron bull and him being sexually liberated as much as I respect Josie for not wanting to sleep with everyone. No reason to call the romance juvenile however.

First... how does it seem like they have the least players romancing them?
Based on what youtube videos and polls on here, it's not fact it's just my theory. I picked Iron Bull and I just don't see too much love for him or Josie, everyone seems to pick Cass, Cullen, or Solas, and maybe Sera/Blackwall in their canon first playthroughs

Hmmm… are there any Josey's fans out there?
I romanced Josie in both of my completed playthroughs. She isn't exactly my favorite Bioware romance ever (Liara, Lelina and Viconia are my top 3), but I thoroughly enjoyed her arc. I loved that it was quite sweet and romantic...and dueling Otranto was just awesome

I meant mother in law in a more abstract sense, lol. That particular inquisitor decided to get out when he was warned off, partly because Leliana freaked him out and partly since he was just having fun and thought that Josie was more of a woman of the world than she was.
My Hawke didn't romance any of them--he just had a thing for Aveline.
I'm looking forwward to romancing Josie on another character, though.

Oh okay, I understand where you're coming from then. But the BSN isn't really a good rep of the general population of DA players, as awesome as we are.
We'd need a bigger sample size. I can understand IB since his romance is pretty specific to taste, but Josie being an option for both genders, and a 'safe' romance ... my guess would be she is probably actually quite popular. Perhaps just not as much so as Cass.

While reading some topics about romances, I noticed that a lot more people romanced Cassandra than romanced Josephine.
I got the impression in the others games de difference in the numbers between people who romanced Morrigan/Leliana and Isabela/Merril was shorter than in DA:I.
So I wonder why this happened in DA:I. I doubt its because she is not a party member, because Cullen is a advisor and a lot of people romanced him.
So why you guys think it happened? To me I think she isn't very remarkable, I liked her conversations about politics, but when she started talking about herself or her family she bored me. I know its unfair to compare her past and family to Cassandra, but there was nothing interesting to me.
PS: this is not a topic on who is the better romance, if you think Josephine is the better its ok. I just want to know why more people romanced Cassandra than Josie.
The OP title doesn't do your topic justice.
That said, I think it's because we have a substantially larger amount of time to bond with Cassandra than we do Josephine. I think it's interesting she has this "Disney princess" feel to her and it's partly because she wants to be respected,
Cassandra, of course, is devout and simultaneously gritty, especially if you follow her personal quest. We pretty much saw her as this intimidating "inquisitor" (pun not intended) in DA 2 who definitely didn't seem like she was above harming Varric to get some info out of him. I think it's weird that people interpret her to be some "strong warrior with a soft side" archetype when she's so much more than that. She's a person trained to do certain things and simply determined to do what is necessary to accomplish what she deeply believes is right.
She initially doesn't really trust the Inquisitor and definitely doesn't trust or like Varric that much, so these "soft" moments to me felt like her gradually being surprised, because - this happens so many times with her I could paste it on her forehead - the game really tries to show how her fierce loyalty to her convictions and preconceived thoughts often contradicted reality.

Also, she isn't a party member but doesn't have the brand power of Cullen which is a huge blow to her potential romance output. The mere mention of Cullen will make some girls on here drop their panties instantly whether he's a party member or not.
Which baffles me, because Cullen had nothing resembling a personality or interesting characteristics until DAI.

Even among straight males, they would opt for Dorian instead of Josephine.
http://www.gamefaqs....sition/70835114
I'm surprised at how popular Dorian is, especially consider that straight males would romance him over other girl like Josephine. He ranked second, very close to Cassandra. Iron Bull overtakes her, too. I'm not sure, but Josephine's romance is very sweet and drama-free, maybe she also suffers from not being a companion. That's very surprising considered how homophobic gamefaqs comments usually are.

I have to disagree. I've never found him particularly attractive as a LI, but he's a very interesting person who's shown more growth than most characters. He's gone from sympathetic to mages, to wanting to slaughter them, to wanting to be just--even though it scares the hell our of him--to being able to look back and question his own actions and responses. Through it all, he's always trying to do the right thing and protect people, even when he's wrong. He's an excellent character.

^Agree with above. If you look at his character progression as a whole from three games, he's shown great growth. If we had not seen him evolve firsthand he would not have been as interesting.
