The Best Game I Ever Played Is Easily Dragon Age Inquisition.

What I find really intriguing about this game is that it doesn't have the huge epic-ness to finish off its ending, yet for some reason, I find myself hooked into it throughout. I just feel a bit enamored with how well-realized its world and characters are.

I do actually agree. Like today when my girlfriend was playing and she reached Varric's personal quest then had that Wicked Grace moment and I had to watch it again, it is a detail but is amazing.
However as a Bioware RPG I did not expect a game, I expected a character creator and a combat simulator heavy stat based no action rpg, and Inquisition sucks at being it. But yeah, as a game, marvelous, perfect, etc

It could have been a more polished and refined experience with a lot less cutbacks at launch. More attention to tiny details would have been nice too. Not to mention the game was admitted by the devs to have originally been planned to be an MMO which would explain the lackluster enemy AI and how regions in the game serve more as a means to level up than as a side experience to enjoy stories outside of the main plot.
... but yeah, its a pretty damn good game though its sad to see how much it has departed from its classic-RPG roots in favor of a hybrid experience meant to appease a general audience of gamers.

It had its flaws. And a couple of really big ones. But overall the game is just pure fun and really really epic and strikes an emotional cord with me.

It's just so perfect.
Did you play a 2-handed warrior, maybe?
Or perhaps a Rift Mage?
Which of the amazing hairstyles did you pick?
Have any trouble getting through key conversations because the dialogue wants to lock up?
I'm really glad you like the game, I like it too. But I can't even fathom how anyone could call DA:I "so perfect" with all the bugs and broken abilities in it. If you can get past that and consider it the best you've ever played, you're a bigger man than I.

As with DAI, games are getting dumbed down and horrible. Sucks you must play an old game to get a good story, plot, immersive, etc.
Compare Thief story/plot to the one released this year. DAO story/plot to DAI, etc.
An identical remake with updated graphics for all those old games would blow away anything being released nowadays. Starcraft 2 was very good though.

Actually SK, I just think you dont like games as much anymore. Granted, I've only seen you on two boards, but on this and Evochron it seems like you cant recapture gaming excitement. That is exactly how I am too I guess, but this one slipped into my great game pile.

I meant old games, not the new ones. *Shrug* I'm still going back to PT:Torment, which was released 15 years ago, and enjoying it way more than DA:I. And not out of nostalgy.

It depends on criteria. When graphic demand was less game authors could abstract more and add a lot of things with low resources. What is better is up to the individual. for my part i cant replay BG series, Ultima, or the like anymore. Either i lost imagination or have gotten shallower, but I like shiny modern games.
