For me, it's on par and, very reminesent of the first MORPG I was a GM for. It doen't have the guild system or PvP in SP obviously but the setting, classes and even abilities and contorls are very similar. Crafting is similar too, differnt names for the mats but, otherwise very close.

I adored that game (until it was ruined by going free to play and GM's could no longer insta ban gold spammers and bots.)

The one thing I would take from that game and give to DAI is seraphing - once you defeat the final boss, you can do a quest (difficult one) to seraph, become more powerful, be reborn. Then you keep your class, race, guild (companions for DAI) and specail skills (mark of the rift for DAI), inventory etc... but, not all skills. You can be reborn up to 10 times, becoming more powerful each time so that a 10x seraph basically 1 hits everything at level or lower. Lets you play differnt builds and specializations, differnt choices while rewarding you for finishing the game. Sure it's a snap at the end, but, you're doing it to see how differnt things work and to fix mistakes you made the last go at it.

I spent months thinking hard while playing Destiny trying to choose from a potential new game (DAI), a remake (gta v..), or a recycled peice of trash (ACU)developed by none other than ubi. Im glad I chose to become the Inquisitor.

DA:I is by far my favorite game of the current console generation.  Nothing yet quite matches the epicness or scale of Inquisition, and the characters continue to be memorable and fun, as is par for the course in a Bioware game.  Does it have it's problems?  Sure, but what game doesn't these days, and they certainly aren't enough to detract from the enjoyment I get from slaying a dragon or making a difficult in-game choice.  DA:I also takes risks, such as delving into concepts like faith and belief, and it does so tastefully.  Granted it is set in a fictional world with fictional religions, but most games are afraid to touch such a sensitive topic, even though the storytelling potential is enormous.

In short, I came into this game not knowing quite what to expect and was blown away by the scope and quality of the experience, and this game alone makes me glad that I upgraded to a next-gen console.

Xbox 360.

I see. Most difficulties I heard of appeared on Xbox and PC. I play on PS4 and I have far less glitches and bugs. I say it just in case you'll have the opportunity to try it one day :)

Opinions are nothing without other opinions to fight them with. It's like cockfighting, with our minds.

The game is good but also has a bit of a filler problem and a lot of combat related bugs need to patched. I hope future patches fix it and DLC builds on it. But since that is a what if, as of now a good but slightly flawed game.

Besides i think modding would have helped the game to iron out some balance issues.

Really best game ever?  I'll just go back to playing Gothic 2 and 3, Thief Dark Project and Metal age, DAO, Witcher, Torment, Dungeon Keeper, Starcraft, Risen, etc.etc.

A lot of those I like but Risen? God I couldn't get an hour into it without wanting to smash my damn pc.

how many games have you even played?

Don't get me wrong DA:I is definitely a very good game and my GOTY 2014 BUT the best game ever?

give me a break the short story, the annoying fetch quests, a weak villian and some other flaws even keep it from being in my top 5

Hell its not even the best in the DA Series (Origins still is)

Nothing's objectively perfect of course. But the amount of whining and crying about it is also amazing. People just cannot leave others' opinions without pushing their own, can they?

well OP had to know that people wouldn't agree with him/her I mean this is the internet of course

what did you expect? especially with such a exaggerated title ("best game ever") and OP did not even explain his/her thoughts

its not whining or crying people are just voicing their opinions

As with DAI, games are getting dumbed down and horrible. Sucks you must play an old game to get a good story, plot, immersive, etc.

Compare Thief story/plot to the one released this year.  DAO story/plot to DAI, etc.

An identical remake with updated graphics for all those old games would blow away anything being released nowadays. Starcraft 2 was very good though.

Do the rose-tinted glasses make it hard to see? I always figured it was kind of like sunglasses, where you should take them off when you're indoors.

Being that really there weren't that many GOTY in 2014. I really dunno if this up there, with the other disasters done towards gaming this year, on those supposed next gen releases, but it is a close call to current fail rates.

If the game worked properly it has great concepts, a hell of alot of gametime, an interesting unique story within a rich setting. All the things you want out of game that functions desireably. Mainly coming from that massive playtime, so rewarding when taking the time to select descisions and choices, crafting each character into your own sense of purpose.

However and quite sadly, derp derp, cash the paycheck early for an instant blockbuster, one that isn't quite as functioning as it's assumed success..

I remember when DA:O came out, people were complaining that it was a fail at being a worthy successor of Baldur's Gate II... saying it was a dumbed down game for a generation of casual gamers.

It happens with quite literally everything.

"343 is ruining Halo, they should make it like Halo 2!"

"Blizzard is ruining WoW, they should make it like Vanilla and/or Burning Crusade!"

"Call of Duty is a joke! They should make it like CoD4 (best gaem evar)!"

"Gearbox is ruining Borderlands! Make it more like the original!!!" (even though Gearbox didn't develop the latest Borderlands game, but that doesn't stop idiots)

Did you play a 2-handed warrior, maybe?

Or perhaps a Rift Mage?

Which of the amazing hairstyles did you pick?

Have any trouble getting through key conversations because the dialogue wants to lock up?

I'm really glad you like the game, I like it too. But I can't even fathom how anyone could call DA:I "so perfect" with all the bugs and broken abilities in it. If you can get past that and consider it the best you've ever played, you're a bigger man than I.

I can't like this enough I am unable to play a dagger wielding rogue, 2 handed or sword and board because of the PC controls. essentially I must always play mage or archer. :( there is much to love in inquisition but it is nowhere close to perfect.

It's one of the best I've played, probably top five material, but I wouldn't say it's THE best.

Don't forget all the angst over how Bethesda ruined the Fallout series with Fallout 3.
