Dear BioWare, Your Ending Sucks. Here's Why:

-You promised forty different endings (this accounts for multitudes of minor variations and slightly fewer major variations, of which there are none) and we got one instead.

-Corypheus could've attacked Skyhold to take the eluvian and enter the fade to become a god, but no, he just opens the breach again, because that worked so well for him last time.

-Our forces are conveniently left behind in the Arbor Wilds (and we are given no explanation) and the final battle sucks. We couldn't call in forces that we've allied ourselves with, there were no alternatives to stopping Corypheus and there was no genuine risk to anyone involved.

-The Inquisitor's mark is said to be killing them in the beginning. Why did this not expand into an "ultimate sacrifice" possibility for an ending?

-The prologue sucked. You should've kept the one where Cassandra nearly slit your Inquisitor's throat. I fail to see how she comes to trust your character so quickly after what happened.

Just to clarify, I loved your game. Just wish some of these things could've been better. I really am a huge fan of Dragon Age and am looking forward to more from you guys. One of my favorite RPG developers in fact, but you need better choice mechanics like with DA:O and DA2. This game had no consequences for choices and needed much improvement in said areas. Looking forward to more from you guys.

Sincerely yours,

Vultrae

There were multiple endings though? Obviously, not big, different ending mission and epilogue ones, but there were different ending cards depending on what you did throughout the game. If Bioware hadn't exaggerated about the endings before you played, would you have minded them so much?

Why does the inquisitor need to be sacrificed? The mark was said to be killing them while the breach was left open and the inquisitor has not touched it. After they stabilized it (making them the herald), the mark stopped being hurtful, supposedly.

There could be a number of reasons why Corypheus doesn't attack you at Skyhold. Firstly, he looks too busy doing other stuff. He probably just wanted to do his thing and ignore you if possible by going to the temple and opening the breach before you could stop him. Skyhold could also be hidden from him by magic. Skyhold is hinted at being...weird.

The ending mission was pretty lame, it's true. If you think of the battle as the epilogue and the battle at Mythal as the final mission, it's better.

There were enough people that fetishised the epilgoues in DAO as somehow giving multiple endings that DAI copying it has to count as multiple endings.

The ending was clearly rushed IMO. But at the same time as the final battle kind of sucked hard, I loved the dénouement at Skyhold.

LoL what

dragon age is sort of/maybe sequel baiting

so no point in ENDING IT ALL

only problem with DAI was the final boss fights being easy even on solo nightmare

epilogues are nice :33

atleast the inquisitor didnt jump into the fade and seal away magic from the world to save the world from the breach

LoL

It was pretty much a par for the course ending, with some slides and a cutscene. What could you have possibly been expecting otherwise? Its basically the same as the last two, but prettier.

"I love you, you suck"?

Yes, the ending could have been more immersive and could have brought together many elements from the game, but it's a far cry from DA2 or ME3. Criticism is better received when it isn't littered with insults.

"40 endings" was a misprint by some magazine. Mark Darrah clarified this...almost a year ago.

While I agree the final mission was underwhelming I don't agree that any of the points you bring up fit within the narrative. I'd rather tell them how the ending makes me feel and let them work it out then tell the professionals how to do their job.

Also, if you really love Bioware, dipense with the insulting language. We have enough of that. It wouldn't surprise me if Bioware passed this over as just another hate thread.

Ending? The end of Corypheus and the Breach is just the Beginning. However the whole demons and the end of the world plot is getting real old. I believe the Ending opens the door to a huge conspiracy plot that will start a massive Thedas War throughout the whole continent along with alot more pissed off dragons.

I just hope that Bioware gives us at least 2 long full expansions (over  60 hours at best, no fetch quests!!!), and not just some short dlc.

Who said that was the ending? The inquisitor still has much to do. You missed the entire plot Flemeth and the Dreadwolf Solas are the beginning to something new. So I didn't see the game as ended. The inquisitor is merely catching her/his breathe for the next impending storm. Our Armies are still strong standing forever vigilant. I feel sorry for their Garrison life now, Garrison in the Military SUCKS haha back to 0500 PT.

Unless Bioware goes back on their new protagonist for every game approach the Inquisition and Inquisitor are done.

While I would have put it in a more eloquent way (and bit more tactful) the OP has a point.  This is yet another case of more exaggerated claims and outright lies.  Although, I am perfectly fine without an Ultimate Sacrifice ending.  I've had enough of those for two generations of consoles thank you very much.  It's a trope that is being used WAY too much recently.

Yeah but we have potentially a whole portion of the game being developed and awaiting purchase I see it as a mid season pause. Unlike the other protagonists the Inquisition and inquisitor are extremely different. Normally in the past two games there wasn't much special about the Characters. They had no powers beyond their on physical and/or magical abilities and even tho they inspired followers neither protagonist has the political or military influence to solidify their selves beyond their intended task.

The Warden was obligated by Duty and fate to end the Blight, Hawke was forced to Kirkwall to make a living and fell into the place of champion. The Inquisitor is much different, she almost instantly defined herself by rapidly becoming a leader and figure head and ultimately the leader of an army of the faithful. Armed with a magic mark posessing power beyond her physical or magical atteibutes. The inquisitor has the backing of empires. Thus making it a force to be reckoned with to contend with major conflicts beyond the scope of Cory. I honestly hope for some good DLC for this game.

Dear Bioware,

I will donate money for boxes of tissue so you can pass them out to all the people winging and moaning about not making the game just for them.

Thanks!

I like the new protagonist formula, since we don't have to wait until the end of a series to get a totally new hero's story and so forth, but part of me would love to get the Inquisitor back, partly because I really enjoy playing this character, but mostly because it would cause a huge ruckus about the Hero of Ferelden not returning for any new games and making for some good bellyaching (though technically this would be false with the Awakening expansion).

I saw the ending as a hook for the DLC.  The Inquisitor's story isn't quite done yet, and the Stinger after the credits pretty much confirmed that for me.  I have a feeling that more of what we saw will be addressed in DLCs for DA:I.  "The Hunt for the Dread Wolf," or something like that.  I would expect it to get mostly addressed with some closure before the DA team starts focusing more on DA:5.

So I wouldn't sweat it just yet.  ;)
