It is my favorite scotch, I would buy it a hell of a lot more often if it wasn't so expensive, but when i do get the funds for it. Man is it worth it.
Did you try it once and not like it?
Yeah, during my "I don't know what the *expletive* I'm doing" phase
My grandfather always had JW around when I was a kid. It wasn't for him, but more for his friends if they came over.
When I became an adult, I figured I'd try it(on my mother's suggestion). I did, but I had a sample bottle that I didn't rightfully appreciate because of its size and because at the time, I had been trying various alcohols with the wrong strategy, thus only tasting ethanol when I was missing out on all the actual flavor profiles and subtleties
Eventually I bought a bottle of Maker's Mark bourbon and watched videos of whiskey experts drinking it, so I could learn how to get the flavors out of it that they would
On my first attempt after my research, I nailed it and tasted all the things I should've been tasting originally. After that, I figured I'd open the field and go back to trying the various alcohols I've had before, but this time with the proper mindset and preparation ahead of time.
So JW's on the list.
