I have all the doors open but one, and seem to have found all the shards already, no quests still open, no skulls on maps. Anyone know where some elusive ones are?

I was in the same boat in my first game. Thought I had them all but it turned out I was four short. Looking at my Collections list in my journal, there were four I missed on The Storm Coast, even though the Ocularum was already X'ed out on the map. Dunno if that helps but good luck.

I don't know what to tell you except I do know that the game has all of them because I got them all in my first game. I'm on my second game now and I'm still collecting them.

The quest log has a quest for every area collecting the shards, and all those quests have been completed.

There were never any in haven were there?  That would explain the missing 4, since I can't go to haven again.

There are none in haven.  Double check your collection journal. Or there is still a zone you need to unlock.

They are in the Storm Coast

I actually had the same problem. I was 4 short and it said that I missed 4 from the storm coast in the completed quests section but visiting the 3 ocularum said there were no more shards to pickup. Bug maybe? I'm pretty sure I picked up all 13 shards there but somehow it didn't register 4 of them? Btw I didn't have this problem on my first playthrough. Must have been a patch that changed something recently?

I'm in sort of the same boat.  I'm four short in the Hinterlands alone.  My quest log says I've found 18 of 22, but I've cleared the map and I don't see any ocularums I haven't accessed already.  I have no idea what to do.

Is Lady Shayna's valley cleared?

Lady Shayna's Valley in the Hinterlands and Lyrium Falls in the Storm Coast both have 4 shards and are easy enough to miss if you didn't go that far in that direction.  Both of them are on the eastern side of the maps.

I wish it was as simple as that. However there is a bug with some shards not registering after you've picked it up. The trigger for the bug isn't known.

So what do you get for collecting those shards ? I killed all the dragons without using the shards even though I collected them from like 3 or 4 maps.

They are used to open doors in a temple in the Forbidden Oasis. You get permanent increases to Fire, Cold, Spirit and Lightning resistance (+20 each), master runes, resistance belts and some other loot.

Check your inventory under 'Collections'. You can see if you have collected all shards on a map.

It says f.x. Hinterlands 17/22. That means you are missing 5 shards in this area (and probably one ocularum).

The Temple Of Pride in the Forbidden Oasis

You will need 6 shards in order to open the main door. Inside the temple you will need more shards to open the nine doors:

The Spirit Calmed
The Cold Endured
The Fire Captured

All the first doors takes 6 shards. The next doors takes 12 and the last doors 18 shards. Means you need 36 shards for each room.
The last door on the main floor (frost) opens when you have finished the last room down stairs. No shards needed.

In each room there is a coffin. When you open and loot them completely they give you:

Every first room: 4 resistance points + 7% Resist Belt

Every second room: 6 resistance points + 15% Resist Belt

Every third room: 10 resistance points + 30% Resist Belt

The coffins also gives you essence, runes and a little coin. Sometimes a power amulet.

If you chose to farm items instead the coffins will not give you any resistance point. It is only when you EMPTY them completely!

You end up with +20% fire, cold, spirit and electrical resistance when all doors are opened and all coffins looted entirely.

I'm having trouble with an ocularium in Western Approach. It's the one northeast of Griffin Keep. I know it's the last one I need in that area, but when I use the ocularium the little shard counter is 0/0 and it's not shining. I know I haven't used it yet. :/

Climb up to the platform on the north side of Griffon Wing Keep. See if you see a shard there.

Are you sure you have all the shard spotters? There is one that is only available after you unlock an area at the map table thing.

I've used all three of the ocularium in the area, just double - checked them all. Is there a forth one I don't know about? They all say 0/0 but I need 3 more shards... The only guide I found says there are only three oculariums in the area?

There's a fourth ocularum in the Approach, behind the locked area the other poster mentioned (it's behind those huge doors that can't be unlocked through normal means, you need to complete a war table assignment to open the map further). Check your journal and see if you have completed The Trouble With Darkspawn and Holding the Western Approach - these can only be completed by entering that area, so if they're not completed yet, you probably still haven't explored this part of the map.

I've explored the whole map, and I've done both those quests. I think I've gotten that one? I wish they listed the regions so I could use the info Mushashi posted, but I have no idea where any of those places are. This is what I'm working off of: http://guides.gamepr...de.asp?ID=28618

you also get arishok vitaar from the final chest. Decent vitaar. not as good as cretahl but better than the dragon hunter vitaar.

Oh my god, from wandering around aimlessly I found the ocularium near the giant's staircase. Thank you guys for dealing with me.
