So this has been nagging me a lot throughout the game: what exactly is the Venatori Brute? Is it some kind of Qunari slave soldier? Some weird Tevinter experiment to create 'super-soldiers'? Unless I've missed something, I haven't gotten an in-game explanation into what exactly they are. They certainly don't look human, with their shape and their sharpened claws or whatever.

 

Anyone get any answers or possible theories?

According to wikia they are the lower rank among Venatori, therefore I would go with this theory
