I think so. Narrative and characters (world design is nice in some of their games) are the things they do well on a fairly constant basis. The gameplay is just average at the best of times, and tell me a single narrative driven television show or game where the viewer is told in excruciatingly tedious detail the inventory and skills of the main characters? Rhetorical question, don't answer it. Point is that the the visual novel genre would make Biowares narrative flow a lot smoother, and I think that one of the big reasons why the first Mass Effect narrative is a Bioware fan favorite is that it tended to get right to the point and told us little else besides the stuff we needed to know with less time wasting.
Bioware would be better off making visual novels?

Naw, I like the gameplay.
VNs usually bore me eventually as there's nothing there except for the text. I like things to be broken up a bit.
Also, Mass Effect (the first one) is one of my least favourite narratives...

No. I enjoy the gameplay as well, and the exploration.

I think Telltale has that market pretty much cornered. Most likely, BioWare would lose a tonne of business if they switched to that kind of format.

Not a good idea imo. Bioware don't have the writing chops to pull off those kinds of games. Without the gameplay to bolster it, I think much of the terrible writing would be brought into focus. And the writing is like the main thing Bioware has going for them.

...Have you played a visual novel? No, BioWare games are fine as they are. Though I must ask.. "narrative, characters, average gameplay" your views here seem to match mine of The Witcher and well, people often compare the two, so do you think CD Projekt Red should make visual novel's too? Why just BioWare?

This makes no sense. He/She feels that because of x reasons bw should make a vn. You think these reasons apply to the witcher instead. The logical conclusion of this is YOU (if you think these are reasons for vn-making , that is) wanting cd project red to make vns, not him/her.

You mean the game where almost every conversation you have with someone only amounts to thinly-disguised lore exposition?

I don't think they need to go in that direction completely, but just as they took a very close look at Skyrim (why?) for Inquisition, maybe taking a look at Telltale wouldn't be such a bad idea. It's actually more of their strengths. Although there's an argument to be made that Telltale borrowed a bit from Bioware to begin with.

No. Can't stand the visual novel thing. Also, you remember Mass Effect a lot different than I do. I remember five minute conversations with no bodies on Citadel that was just there to set the background.

You must have played a different Mass Effect 1 then I did, for you are remembering the game much differently then I do.
I like the products BioWare creates right now and I am pretty sure there are more then just me and frankly switching to such a drastic different business model doesn't mean success or being more successful they are now. If you don't like the product BioWare creates you are better off looking for another company to do business with instead of telling them to completely change their business model to satisfy your desires.

It seems this is the direction they've decided to go so need to learn from the mistakes they made and hopefully next time around can deliver a tighter story experience.
I like the exploration aspect, I just wish something of note could be discovered.

telltale knows how to make those visual novel games, DA writers know how to make romances work, and the market is obivously there.

Bioware would make some very good Interactive Stories (like Telltale.) That being said it's a much riskier market so ...

I'm gonna be honest, the romance part of Bioware games is becoming a cliché. Like romance subplots in action movies.
I realize they're optional and all, but after seeing what Bioware decided to "streamline" in DA:I to be honest I wouldn't mind if they had "streamlined" the romance as well. Even streamlined them completely.
Far better gameplay elements have already been cut or gutted.

I think BW should release Visual novels but not in expense of games.

They streamlined the romances in Dragon Age 2 and you saw how well that turned out for them, far worse reaction then anything I have seen towards Inquisition. I don't consider quite the same level as the ending to Mass Effect 2 but "playersexual" became a new word because of it.

Telltale has that market all for itself, and I don't think BioWare has the writing to make games focused so much on narrative.
Besides, BW's stories lend themselves to a great deal of combat all over each and every single game of theirs I have played.

I wouldn't mind a visual Novel from them, but as a separate spin-off and in the style of Walking Dead would be fine.

But even though I think those things, I dont feel the Witcher should be a vn. Which is the reason I question why they feels BioWare should be making vns. Exspecially when the reasons they gave can be attributed to many different games but he only mentions BioWare.
