One of the developers hinted in another thread that he may be looking into, so I guess we'll see. Some hope of getting it fixed is better than none.

Shepard takes a drink with the helmet on

If this thread gets locked, I'm making a new one and that's going to be the thread title.

I think its perfectly understandable that BioWare make the armor how they did even though I was a little sad about it. They made it so it LOOKS GOOD. If it is segmented, it wont look nearly as good. Im not even using the armor anymore because customized armor is better overall after enough upgrades. Maybe down the line they can make a whole new look to the armor, but that would put a big delay on any DLC or major fixes that are needed.

If it was a chest piece we were talking about here that could require a total redesign of the entire model then sure, maybe.  But this is a helmet man.  They did this in the first game even.  The N7 armor even at least has a basic version of it, albeit not an actual display toggle but one that removes the helmet entirely.  You cannot seriously expect anyone to think that this will take weeks of work and slow down DLC delivery.  This is not an effort that requires the co-ordinated work of every department at Bioware.

I can understand that the developers wanted an iconic look for the armour. I get that. What I don't understand is why not just have a toggle for helmets like in ME1? You're not segmenting the armour; you're just hiding some textures. "Working as intended", sure, but it seems to be an issue for a lot of people.

Shepard doing things through his helmet looks odd, and not being able to see his face in dialogue and cutscenes is an immersion breaker. I guess one simply has to weigh up if they either want the armour bonuses or want to experience the game the way it was meant to be.

Still have to look at the time it would take to do it though. I think it was probably a simple miss on the end product but a very small one. Make an art change and add some add some additional lines of code. Still a low priority compared to other things that can be done that imo are more important.

- What was that "good reason", if you don't mind sharing? And why couldn't the answer have been provided to those asking rather than play the literal role of "Illusive Man"?

The consumers are dissatisifed with the product. They have a right to be. Why threaten the "ban hammer"? It's not their fault that no one had ever mentioned the DLC armours were the only armours in the game that can't have their helmet un-equipped.

I don't want to personally insult the collective entity known as BioWare but I will remark that the DLC was handled incredibly poorly and it speaks directly to the designers.
