New Lego Build: Castle King, primarily used for FC NM and above ... .
IMO, it is possible to use Pay back strike instead of Shield bash. Each of these have their pluses and minuses. Another IMO, TtD needs barrier for people with low promotions otherwise it is going to end badly unless in a high dps group that is going to promptly help with TtD target. Using war cry does not make any sense now as taunt duration was nerfed so badly.

Please do. Go ahead. No one stopping you, and I thoroughly encouragely to do so, and to continue testing and you get your information correct. I like your longer description format.
I just don't have time for it myself.

War cry isn't in my builds except to be bypassed for cutting words.
Barrier isn't required, even for low promote players. Source: Taught a player with a total of 3 promotes to successfully tank NM Dragon runs. He died more often than promoted and experienced players, but decreasingly less with every playthrough learning the build.
PBS kinda blows, and WF overtakes its role for debuff cancel & offers debuff prevention with the CS WF + lots of targets synergy. SB is much better due to high prevalance of high guard targets.
Single enemies really don't do all that much damage even with TTD on for a long time due to how they move and target, especially with WF around.

PBS is still good if you need some breathing non-ragdolled state for a second when you can cast WF. Otherwise, these three revenants will keep bouncing that lego around like ping-pong.
He's right though. I have 18 constitution and am able to tank on the legionnaire with TTD. You should try it yourself.
Oh, I have surely tried many-many times. It does not work well in about 50% of random pugs though. With a good group, sure, even I don't die in NM. And iirc, you have pretty decent willpower and some cunning so these two also help.
i feel like a noob for asking this, but i'm just starting to try out the Templar, and in your dragon solo w/ Belinda, i see you using the sword without the second swing. how do you do that? it looks more efficient and faster than waiting for two-hit swings, as i've been doing.

It is fantastic you noticed that.
The fact that you ask and are willing to learn inherently makes you not a noob but leaning into experienced player territory. The most talented people are those that observe more, think about it, ask more and learn more. I'd be proud to have you in my teams, and if you're on PC feel free to add me on Origin (same name)
Gya answered your main question though.
The simplest way for me is to hold down basic attack, and tap the SW button at the end of the swing. You eventually get a rhythm for it.
There are other ways of teaching SWAC (shield wall attack cancel), and other advanced patterns with variations but start with the simplest. You eventually get to the point where you can transition from SWAC to blocking an enemy's attack and back to SWAC or attack abilities with minimal delay in between.
There's actually two sets of attack basic attack animations of four different swings each for 1H'ers. The second set involves holding down movement (forward usually), and has a forward jab motion to begin with.
As you saw, there's much higher rate of attack, and chance to block over basic attack animations. For 1H'ers, swords work best for SWAC due to their slower basic animation and higher base damage vs axes and maces.
I am a bit at a loss on how to round out a Templar build after getting the wombo combo and Horn of Valor perilous wise. The armor passive and Valor bonus make you invincible to physical damage in perilous (i find I don't even need turn the bolt to take 1 damage from archers). Allies don't really need help surviving via Bodyguard, enemy guard isn't significant enough to warrant Shield Bash...
Maybe Challenge + Cutting Words for mitigating spell damage with guard and killing bosses faster? Or just default to Payback strike for knockdown removal?

You realise Shield Bash also does a lot of dmg right? And that all the dragons generate tons of guard?
Are you confusing To the Death with Challenge btw?

Cutting words is a damage passive available next to Challenge on Templar and located next to Warcry on Lego. If Challenge's cd was reduced to 4s, it wouldn't be bad to have, but not with HoV, but with SW for the stamina regen.
I don't think konfeta's reading my builds at all. I've already listed a Castle Smasher Templar build that's very well rounded for FC, with the core abilities taken at level 12. The only difference now is guard passive are worth taking, and there's plenty of room for that after 12.
The Lego and Templar are both best in high enemy hp / large number of enemy environments, that is to say NM or HB FC. You basically don't need them in Perilous and you can get away with snoozing through a perilous match or two until NM.
I'm a slowpoke and have kept with comfortable kits, but am using this weekend's challenge to finally start poking the new kits (Avaar, Duelist, and Virtuoso).
As such, I had zero clue how to build them, so I started with Avaar tonight due to my love of and penchant for warriors, and went for your Avaar build.
Am loving it. Feel like a complete god. Thanks for the tips of the order to use powers and such, very much helpful!
Great build. I keep Charging Bull instead of Parry but admit I do have issues with Shieldbearers

Yeah its fine to have another ability if you're in a different team.. but I've also solo'ed Heartbreaker until I got bored. I was doing so much damage even without TTD (or unyielding in my case), normal enemies in HB were dying within 3-6 seconds because there's non-stop combos. Fade Cloak mages took longer to kill but only if I was knocked around, and I can totally see it being doable solo (and fast)
Added new Silent Sister build: Bring it on!
Better balanced for team builds, with higher overall damage output and survive-ability, trading away some single target dps for more battlefield control and a much easier time against shield-bearers.
That new silent sister build is horribly bad for your standards. Its something Mortiel would create for fun.

It's a build only used by players with controllers...had to say it... sorry >.<

Nope. His are still far more optimal than what I've been toying with... I swear one of my builds will seem efficient one moment, then the next it's so off-the-wall and eccentric that I don't even think I am hipster enough to use them...
Thank you for the Reaver tips, Drasca. I am now more confident with this kit than I was before.

What exactly is wrong with it? I really feel like you can't mess up the SS unless you really try. She's like the all star team of the best rogue and warrior moves in the game.
I'm trying out Alchemist for the first time and using your build.
it's so much thanks a ton!
