I wanted to say thanks for posting all of these.  you've given me a lot to play with and figure out,  but I noticed a few times you say "if your cunning is high." in the context of MP, what is considered high?

and speaking of high critical chance, I've seen archers rip through NM dragons in as little as 10 seconds. what mechanics or builds do they use to do this? I've tried on my own, but I can't seem to match the same results.

thanks for what you do.

I would say a critical chance rate of 25% is adept. At that stage you can depend on various crit passives like Cheapshot, Looked Like it Hurt, Flow of Battle, Opportunity Knocks to really do some work for you.

At 50% It is high and these same passives are very powerful. It can also double and go to 100% with Opportunist (katari) Sneak Attack (assassin, alchemist, archer)

What you saw in those videos was

-Mark of Death: An ability that can double damage on a target (or could at the time anyway)

-Cheapshot sundering away the dragons armor

-Pincushion passive stacking lots of dmg from Leaping Shot

-The dragon taking full dmg from Leaping Shot because it is a huge target

-Leaping Shot is spammed due to Opportunity Knocks and a high enough crit rate

-Possibly up to 240% dmg increase from Hakkon's Wrath bow

Another Dragonkiller ability is To the Death found on the Legionnaire, Katari and the Silent Sister

If you are interested, my nightmare section has a guide on maximizing Leaping Shot's hit rate and also a build that allows you to auto-crit by combining Knockout Bomb and Mercy Killing.

These don't work on the high dragon.  Since T3 Weapon upgrades and new equipment are available, no longer necessary to conditionally crit. I do have this build already listed, but it is outdated vs new gear.

After trying out opportunity knocks, I would say its one of the most powerful passives in the game paired with the stamina passives.

Oh yeah. Definitely fun. Requires critical chance, but that's easy to get now a days with T3 Weapon upgrades.

Ya sure. Because nobody would consider using their grips to give them something other than critical chance, like attack, or Heal on Kill. Certainly not players who don't have all the rings and bows...

And having a big crit grip would not exactly reduce a spammable source of 100% critical chance to zero value, god.

For my arched on my Hakkon Bow I personally use attack % and hok because I do Leaping Shot spam with spring trap as a defense... Lots and lots of damage mwahahahhahahahhahaha

This raises a question I've been pondering:  is it better to wear 2 crit damage rings, or 2 ability rings?  I've been using 2 crit damage rings on my archer because I use all 4 of my abilities pretty regularly, and want them all to get the benefit.

Personal preference. I get more use out of my two ability rings. Trial and error man

Contextual. Depends on build and the rest of the gear. The less critical damage bonus you have overall, the more the crit damage rings benefit. The more you use individual abilities, the more ability rings benefit. etc.

Realistically, its only going to be a little bit of damage either way, with the exception of longshot ring WRT archer specifically. Its not going to change your playstyle or signifigantly help you stay alive. The damage differences are very incremental until very deeply into end-game.

I had the same philosophy so I was divided between critical dmg rings, crit chance and attack rings.

There was a thread on this recently.

The value of a crit ring depends on tactical advantages + crit chance times crit dmg

The last goes up enormously if you equip a Hakkon weapon

For crit dmg and attack it depends mostly on your crit chance which is better

However they both suffer from a different kind of inflation.

Crit dmg has Hakkon inflation, meaning its value inflates if you equip a Hakkon

assuming max crit chance, a crit dmg ring would raise dmg from 140% (base crit dmg) to 160%

a relative increase of 14.3%

Once you equip a Hakkon it raises dmg from 240% to 260%

a relative increase of only 8.3%

assuming nothing else, an attack ring would increase dmg more from 240% to 264%

a relative increase of 10%

Attack however suffers from Willpower inflation.

If you have 210 Willpower for instance you'd have 200% dmg

Adding the ring increases dmg from 200% to 210%

A relative increase of only 5%

The ability rings however suffer from no inflation whatsoever and maintain their value.

Which is why you'll see many high-end players donning ability rings.

I have the spirit resist + elemental resist, whether its cold, fire or electric. My current armor set is electric and spirit resist because I really hate those shock mages on Nightmare. The max you can get with spirit and electric is 32% resist off armor each. You can get an additoinal 30% off a belt of elemental resist. Having the tonics is really useful as well.

I used to always keep spirit and fire resist when I had low willpower and fighting the old bosses. Cold resist is nice for Fereldan castle dragon farming.

That is also my default set on all mages. (32% Spirit & 32% Electric)

So yesterday I jump into GirlTriesGame's game and turns out it was a Private game and Drasca was there discussing game mechanics.   The same Drasca that I had been watching youtube and following some of the builds 6 months ago... felt like I accidentally stumbled into the VIP room so I left quietly. :P

Athlok Burst, Asura's Leap are the two primary abilities. The rest are optional, switching out things like Asura's Ring, Glyph, or the Barrage as desired.

Should've stuck around and talked
