What mods do you guys use for your staves? I saw alot with %heal on kill in the OP item thread, but I was wondering what materials I should save up to get the most out of my components? Cloth is already scarce as it is. Also, should I be going for magic or willpower on the staff blade? I know both affect attack for mages, but I assume the magic defense your get from willpower is more useful than bonus dmg to barriers in MP.

Thoughts?

The three tiers of cotton give +heal on kill, which is used in three of your four upgrade slots, and the fourth is offense metal, which you want to use +attack in.

always use tier 1 staff blade

Why is that?

Because it has an offense cloth slot and the tier 2 only has utility.

Can anyone confirm this? I noticed my damage from spirit blade barely went up when i gained 36 magic. Is attack % the way to go on AW?

Magic is equivalent to half a point of attack (for mages only), but also gives a bonus to damage vs barriers.  Willpower is also half a point of attack (for everyone) but is also half a point of magic resistance, so it's worth considering.

Regardless, the two shouldn't really be in conflict with +attack, since they come from different slots.

Offense cloth is best used on Heal on Kill, and Offense Metal on attack, those are the only two types you get for staff mods (since you have to sacrifice Offense Cloth to get Utility Cloth, which isn't a good trade).

I read, in several different places, that "attack %" was useless to mages. Not true?

not true. Go full attack always with weapons.

Except on Mages, when you go heal on kill and attack.  Or when you want crit chance to take advantage of passives.

If the stats are the same as SP then 36 magic equals 18% increased attack damage for mages only and increased damages to barriers. just a side note if its 36 willpower then its plus 18% attack damage and 18% extra magic defense for every class. So willpower is useful even if you're a warrior or rouge.

This is the one decent staff I have currently(no luck with RNG obviously) but I'd say this is a pretty decent enough staff. Keeps most of my Mages up all the time. Always remember to "steal kills" :D , i.e. wait for the team to damage enemies, then once their health drops low just strike them down yourself for constant healing! :D Combine one such staff with either Elementalist or Necro, and you hardly go down below 50% HP.
*Oh, base stats for the Staff were - 16% Crit Chance and 15% Crit DMG bonus, pretty neat, yeah?  B)
