I've seen various threads (on this forum and others) expressing frustration about biotic combos not "registering" for ME2's Tactician achievement (use biotic combos on 20 enemies), with different advice about how to get it. E.g.
http://forum.bioware...n-not-updating/
This was the last achievement I needed, and after searching around for advice and killing over 50 enemies in the Shadow Broker DLC using a Pull / Throw combo, maybe 3 of those kills registered (the achievement updates with every use of a combo). It was incredibly frustrating.
And then I had a breakthrough - I'm playing on Hardcore difficulty, so all enemies in Shadow Broker start off with Shield, and my first step in facing them was to always use Overload to strip their Shields. But what if the game keeps track of which techs / biotics you've used on an enemy, and treats the use of Overload as making any subsequent combo a tech / mixed combo rather than a biotic combo?
So instead, I tried shooting enemies' Shields off rather than using a tech. skill, and then used a Pull / Throw combo afterward. And voila - biotic combos started instantly registering for the achievement - Pull / Throw, Pull / Warp, etc.
So, if you've been trying to get this achievement and don't understand why combos aren't registering - make sure you only use the biotic combo skills on the enemy, and no other skills like Overload - so if they're Shielded, you'll need to shoot the Shield off. The biotic combo does not need to kill the enemy. There may still be other requirements (e.g. the "setup" skill has to be Pull or Singularity or Slam, etc.), but this made the achievement much easier to get for me. Hope this helps someone out there, because I didn't find this mentioned in the other threads I read.
