Well I am a huge fan of the DA series will I like Mass Effect Series? From what it looks like it looks intrensting, is it worth it? I am more of a fantasy fan but I still love shooting games as well, what I mean is, the ME story is a good one? And worth knowing?

Yes, it is worth trying. The characters are great an the story is very engaging. I think that the trilogy is one of best things to happen to gaming in the last decade. ME2 and ME3 gameplay is quite different from ME1 which is pretty dated IMO. Still, you can and will very much enjoy it on your first run.

I suspect you will enjoy Mass Effect more than DA, regardless of being more a fantasy fan. I am typically far more of fantasy fan myself. I own every DA game and novel, and will tell you without hesitation that Mass Effect is the superior series. There is a reason ME is BioWare's AAA franchise.

I can tell you that overall Mass Effect is the better franchise, since Dragon Age 2 was a major disappointment. Mass Effect is consistently keeping up the quality (well, except ME3, but it's still not as bad as DA2).

If you decide to give it a try, definitely start with ME1, don't skip it just because of the dated shooting gameplay.

The story is great, especially in the first game, where Bioware put lots of effort into the lore, explaining the "space magic" and the political situation and everything.

Also I think it goes without saying but try to avoid spoilers as much as you can and just enjoy the game.

If you like the DA style long dialogues (especially DA2 and Inquisition) and interesting characters, then yes, by all means, give the ME series a try.

Usually I would now add something about the combat system being very different from DA but since you say, you also like shooting gameplay, well, than you have nothing to worry about.

I will also reiterate XAN's point: Start with ME1. Best way to go is to directly install MEUTIM with ME1 (see here). It's easy to use/install and considerably updates the textures (which in the case of this game is important because of all the close up shots during conversations).

As a last note, I truly envy you for having a great experience before you for the first time. Sometimes I do wish for the flash thingy from Men In Black. :)

The only reasons I can come up with why not to play the Mass Effect series are: you don't like story or to get involved into it too much, or you don't like to read a lot.

And you don't even have to read everything. Other than that, best game series ever. No other game series have had that much of an impact on me as the Mass Effect games have.

Simply put, The Mass Effect Trilogy is the best gaming franchise. Any gamer should try the mass effect experience.

Mass Effect is generally more entertaining than Dragon Age. The games are not as lengthy as DAO or DAI but they also have much less filler content. You will probably also feel more attached to the characters in Mass Effect since you play as the same person in the entire trilogy and can have some of the same squadmates in all three games. One thing that Mass Effect does lack however, is party banter. Mass Effect 1 had a lil banter, Mass Effect 2 has almost nothing, Mass Effect 3 had alot more banter than the other two games but not to the same level as any Dragon Age game. Still, its one of the greatest gaming experiences you will ever have.

Absolutely. If you loved DA,you will love Mass Effect.

Just...do yourself a favor, and get as many DLC as you can afford, especially for ME3.

Personally, the top 3 I'd recommend are Lair of the Shadow Broker,Omega and Leviathan (Zaeed and Kasumi are free, and you get Javik in the Digital Deluxe Edition)

IMO, DA:I was the point where Dragon Age surpassed Mass Effect. I think Mass Effect is going to be on the less prioritized list, what with the main team working on their new IP.

It's absolutely worth playing. You definitely should start with ME1 for the story even if the overall gameplay and graphics are dated, just be aware that almost all the gameplay was revamped with ME2 (so don't get attached to the things you like and don't be worry about the things you don't like :-) ).

And do not mind the talks baout ME3 ending, while being subpar it's no reason no to play the game at least once (and I'm among those who are still in the trauma ward :-) ).

Thank you all! I think I will buy it :-) I was spoiled a bit in ME3 about the ending but Idk, I know nothing about the universe and about ME1 and ME2  I played the ME3 demo ass well not so long ago, loved it :) so if I buy it that (I am almost certian I will) I will buy ME1 ME2 and 3 :-)

Ok, OP. Let me add to this:

If you become a superfan like me, then you'll get every bit of DLC made. LOL.

However, if you are more discriminating with your tastes (or money), then let me provide you with the following advice.

Mass Effect 1: Skip the DLC.  Bring down the Sky is pretty fun and has a good story, but the story is separate from the rest of the first game and has a minimal, cosmetic effect (pretty much) in Mass Effect 3. Also, the combat in Mass Effect is unrefined compared to the sequels.

Mass Effect 2: All the free things because Free.  All of them are good, especially Lair of the Shadow Broker.  Overlord is pretty cool and I enjoyed it, but the vehicle sequences just felt tedious. Great Dragon Age easter egss in Kasumi's Stolen Memory... I liked The Arrival more than I should and I think it helps to set up the opening sequence in Mass Effect 3, because the prologue really doesn't explain why you are where you are.

Mass Effect 3: Omega was ok, but at it's regular price it's not worth it.  Wait until that goes on sale.  Nothing you do really has any impact on the main story except you get a surplus of War Assets (which you'll have in abundance from within the main game and the other, better DLC).

To answer your question (LOL) ABSOLUTELY!!!

Mass Effect is simply amazing!  Great story, great characters, etc. I have played these games many times; more than Dragon Age.

Uh, isn't BDtS for ME1 free as well? I know it is on PC, does it still cost money on consoles?

Anyway, get the trilogy on PC unless you are really biased towards another platform. Even older computers can run it without issues and it gives you more freedom to upgrade your game with tweaks and mods if you so wish.

Back to DLC though. While it is disconnected from the main story, I still think BDtS is worth playing as it is one of the best side missions in the game (and finally, we got a map that is actually designed for driving the MAKO around). Forget Pinnacle Station though, that one is really completely useless and annoying.

As for ME2 DLC, Once finish the first 3rd of ME2 (the first plot critical mission), you should have a good idea, of whether you got frawn into the game or not. If the answer is yes, I do recommend to get all story DLC, 'cause they are all good (and rather important for the overall plot).

As for ME3, again, it depends on how much you get drawn into the game. If by the end of ME2, you are all excited about ME3, get From Ashes right away. It's the only DLC that is worth getting at the beginning of the game. The rest of them, you can decide later because none of them should be played in the first half of the game IMO. If you decide that you really like the characters, do get Citadel. If you decide that you really want more plot, do get Leviathan. If you decide that you really like the combat gameplay and would just like to have a bit more of that, do get Omega. All of them are high quality IMO but as I said, start playing the game forst and then, you can decide how much fluff you want to add.

Also, if you enjoy Lair of the Shadow Broker AND Lore, then you MUST get Leviathan.

Don't ask, but download the Extended Cut DLC.  It's free and essential for the ending sequences.  Just do it.

If you fall in love with the characters, then you will be remiss if you do not get the Citadel DLC.  Your feels will thank you.

actually I was the same as you. played DA1, then I bought ME2 and let it rot on my shelf, because I thought "man, how good can sci-fi game be, I love Elves, Dwarves, Magic and Swordsplay" ... but after I finally started playing Mass Effect 1 I got so hooked that I played all 3 games in a row, and besides some flaws, I kinda like it even more than Dragon Age now. So, definitely, buy all 3 of them, and start with ME1 if you can, so you can carry your character and decisions over.

OMEGA DLC is far superior to Leviathan.

in Omega you get like 20 combat missions and a fun story.

in Leviathan you get like 3 combat missions, some feel more like a quicktime event, and it's whole purpose was to explain the dumb ending in retrospect and give Casey Hudson a cameo in the game. quite despicable really. It has some really good art design, but it feels more like an interactive shortstory than gameplay mostly.

Best bet is to buy it on PC.

That way if you don't like the vanilla ending or the Extended Crap (err I mean Cut) you can download MEEM or MEHEM or just mod your own ending.

Also, if you buy on PC you can really just have a bit more fun using mods (such as high res texture mods and such) rather than console.

It really is quite an experience right up until Priority: Earth...then...welll...*shrugs

I agree with the post above mine. I played all three games many times on the Xbox 360 then purchased the Trilogy set on PC. I couldn't believe how much I preferred the PC version. Aside from the controls (which are much better IMO) the mods, texture packs, and whatnot you could get increased the experience greatly. I still love the HD texture pack for ME1.

I was thinking of getting the NME on Xbox One but I most likely will upgrade my PC to handle it instead. If mods and texture packs are still going to be a thing with the next game, I don't know, but I'll do it for the controls alone.

To echo all of the above posts, absolutely.   ME refreshed and revised my look at the SciFi world in general.  Played through the second one time, people died.  I couldn't have that.  So, I played through it a second time.  My signature says the rest.

Just do it.  Buy it, and you'll never look back.

DAO is an amazing game. But so is ME1. 2 and 3. I think you'll like it better cause it's more of a continuing story. Many of the same characters appears in all the games. And frankly, (I play on PC with a M&K, by the way), ME3 is way better than DAI.

There were times in all the ME games where I had to hold back tears. And laughter. Not so with DA. Although DAO (the first one) is - can be a killer emotionally. Make sure you get all the DLC's too. Sure, some of them are sort-of-boring, but some are gold (like LofSB, Citadel, Omega),

Like DAO, ME1 is VERY dated. I still think DAO playes (but ME2, and ME3 play WAY better than DA2 and DAI) better, but you'll get the most of out of the series if you play it all. Also, well - you must experience the Mako. Every gamer should. :)
