Revisiting my Origins

After playing inquisition a couple times I'm convinced origins is still my favorite, and have convinced myself to repurchase a 360 (like an idiot I sold it when I bought the Xbox One) so I can play it again.
My question is, What are some of your most memorable playthroughs? I (almost) always played a warrior. Usually human or elf. Always sided with the elves, made harrowmont king, saved the circle, and killed Loghain.
Any ideas for my "first" pt would help

Here's why. For whatever reason people tend to prefer the female dwarf model to the male model. If you play a model you like, you will probably like playing it through the entire game. The dwarf origins are a lot of fun. The noble origin generally leads to a preference for Harrowmount. The commoner leads to a preference for Bhelen. The commoner origin has a giant 'f you' moment in it.

My most memorable playthrough was: Female City Elf Rogue. Romance Alistiar, befriend Morrigan, save the Denerim Alienage from slave-traders, execute Loghain, keep Alistair with the Wardens, become Bann of the Denerim Alienage.
Like moustalker said, Female Dwarf Commoner Rogue is a LOT of fun. The dwarf origins are amazing, and playing through as them gives a great new roleplaying perspective on Thedas.
I also love the Elven Mage. If you are a female elven mage, you are the most hated minority in Thedas (woman + elf + mage), which makes for some great expectation-defying role-playing. Romancing Alistair would make some great irony (female elf mage + male human Templar), or Zevran would be surprisingly fitting (two elves taken from their homes at an early age and raised in "gilded cages"). Lots of fun.

After playing inquisition, I'm kinda excited to get back to origins and try out different endings since all of mine were basically the same lol.
Seems kinda rude of me to never let Alistair stay with the wardens

I agree with Mousestalker. It's better to make a toon (character) that you'll like to play. Pick the origin you're interested in this way you'll stay interested. I prefer City elf rogue, but I also like Noble warrior (human) and Dalish elf origin. I've done all the origins but these are the ones I prefer.

Well, right now I'm replaying the game to do the same thing that you want to do: get different endings/world state. I always (well, most of the times) ended with Bhelen on the throne, Anvil destroyed, curse lifted and peace brokered, mages saved and Alistar on the throne (once with my Warden as queen, the rest of the times with Anora). Now I'm trying to get the opposite things: I'm playing as a Dwarf Noble, so Harrowmont is without a doubt ending as a king (seriously, did anyone picked Bhelen being a Noble?), the dalish are dead, but somehow I have *****d up the Broken Circle and ended again with the mages saved. I started it trying to kill everyone (even killed Wynne when she realised Morrigan was an apostate). I think it might have had something to do with me using the Lithany to prevent abominations from spawning, but I'm not sure. Loghain is staying with me this time, so bye bye Alistair.

Yeah, using the Litany means, in all likelihood, the mages will be saved. You can still choose to support the Templars and get their support in the final battle, but all that happens is the Circle is quarantined.

My most memorable was my first. Female mage, cured the werewolves, sided with the mages, chose Harrowmont, destroyed the anvil, made Alistair king and had Loghain do the DR.
At first, I didn't know that you could romance the companions. I thought you needed to keep their approval up so that they didn't leave your party so I tossed gifts at everyone. Alistair eventually gave me the rose and we shared a kiss and I thought it was sweet that the game allowed us to have a relationship. Then I get back to camp and Leliana tells me how she enjoys the company of women and I dropped poor Alistair like a hot rock and never looked back.
Eventually when Wynne starts that "You're quite taken with each other, aren't you?" conversation, I had "you know about me and ..." replies pop up for Leliana, Alistair AND Zev. ![]()

To me, the funniest way to play Origins is by creating your own character. Like, you think about a stereotype and keep to it. Thanks to that, every playthrough feels unique and more memorable to me. For the moment, I have 3 PTs
The first one is with a human noble and played him as someone with confidence issues, you know, the little brother who thinks he is weaker than the big brother.so even if he tried to make the good, he usually ended up making the bad choices that would get him victory the easy way and that usually means " doing bad things " but he was also one of the nicest guys you could met and would do anything for his friends
The second one was a city elf and was basically me, the choices I would do if I was in that game
The third one was a female mage that you could consider evil. Someone who wanted power and would do anything to gain power and saw the blight as nothing more than a test for her powers and because she was evil, was also very cold.
Hope I gave you some ideas for your character ![]()

My HN was always a cocky and fun character who even though he was the younger brother, had a big ego. But of course by the end he was the responsible and heroic shell of his former self lol.

I love DAO and after playing DAI I went back and replayed DAO again twice more heh. Countless times before DAI came however.
My favorite play throughs of DAI are three.
Male noble warrior who romanced Morrigan, married queen Anora, performed the dark ritual. Saved Amaranthine and then simply vanished. An elf woman and a mage claim he went through a mirror with a woman who's description matched that of his love and father of his child, Morrigan.
Noble female rogue. Romanced Alistair and took the throne with him. Let him sleep with her best friend Morrigan for the Dark Ritual. Saved Amaranthine. Looked for Morrigan so she could say goodbye one last time.
dwarf female noble. expelled from Orzammar and became a warden. She romanced Alistair, sided with her brother and got him on the throne. Didn't trust Morrigan so no dark ritual. Died killing the Arch Demon which broke Alistair's heart.
One of my other notable favs was one with a mage who sided with Anora and her father. Let the old man sleep with Morrigan and saved Fereldin from the 5th blight. Main reason this one was fun is the effects it had on DA2. I laughed when drunken Alistair shows up in the Hanged Man, talking about how swooping is bad. ![]()

But I finally got started on my new play through and went with the female dwarf commoner as suggested. Felt ok with it through the origin story, but then I hit ostagar. Then, as usual, I told myself "hell I can play as a human warrior and still make The different decisions I wanted to!"
So here I sit... Watching my father dying while our castle burns around us. I'll never learn lol

Seconding this. I would suggest that if at all possible, you bring in an OC from another canon, one you've played for some time, rather than starting from scratch. I did this for my first playthrough and feel like it really helped me get into the world of Thedas, because I knew the character I was playing and could guess how he would handle many of the situations the game throws at you.

My canon, and most memorable Warden, was my first. I based him off of my favorite fantasy character, Raistlin Majere from the Dragon Lance series. He is a human male mage, who craved nothing more than furthering his own power and knowledge. He sided with the mages, knowing that it was smarter to put stock in the power of magic. He took the Desire Demon's offer, and learned Blood Magic. He killed the Elves, and gained an uneasy truce with the mythical Werewolves. He gave the Anvil to Branka, and the Throne to Bhelen. He also defiled the Urn, and gained the Dragon's power.
Raistlin also allowed Avernus to continue his research, on his own terms. He then proceeded to sacrifice the Alienage Elves. To top it all off, he made Anora Queen, and accepted Loghain into the Wardens. He also had Alistair executed. He had a love/hate relationship with Morrigan, and preformed the Dark Ritual with her.
I find it a bit disturbing that I feel such a strong connection to such a dark character. It might have something to do with my dad naming me after Raistlin Majere. For anyone who has yet to read the series of books, you are seriously missing out, and you're life is missing something very important.

If anyone thinks that playing each class/race to Ostagar is the only difference in the game... well your wrong. Each race and class brings so much to the game that its worth playing each race through at least once.
Honestly I felt the human noble race had probably more then the other races did but each have their differences. I just thing the noble has the most to offer.
Killing Rendon Howe just means so much more. And its the only race that can end up on the throne with Alistair or Anora. My second fav is dalish elf and mage.
I will say it was kind of sad when my dalish elf girl fell in love with Alistair. She never thought she would love a human but well he has his charms. Anyway she got him on the throne but then he shattered her heart by telling her she could not be his queen, that an elf could not be on the throne. And it would look bad if she was even to be his mistress.
Zevran didn't mind being her rebound LOL and she forced Alistair to sleep with Morrigan.

I agree that the Human Noble has the most unique content in Origins, it seems that the Human Mage, and Dalish Elf have more spotlight throughout the series.

But yes, the human origin having experienced what he did at Howes hands adds a very interesting aspect to the story.

the cool thing about being an elf however is that you get to be a bit of a jerk.
"Watch what you say human." or just getting foot in mouth reactions from people who just said something rude about elves haha.

I did enjoy that aspect of the elves. I actually wish they would have had more of those moments tho. It was kinda disappointing that as a Dalish, you weren't given more dialogue options tho. There were plenty of situations where it would have been nice to call people shemlen and insult them
I find the elf mage Origin to be particularly satisfying. You get the opportunity to change people's views about two of the most hated minority groups in Thedas... for better or worse.
