I've just started using this and I need some help on how to use it. Most of the time my PC knocks the enemy down and keeps on moving way away from the combat site. What do I do to keep my PC from charging way out into the countryside? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Let go of the button once you get near him, he will knock the guy down and you can then make your next move

If you play on PC it's a toggle skill. Hit it once to start charging, hit it again to stop.

Melee attack to stop.

Or don't stop. Keep charging to victory.

When I first started playing this game, I wondered why Blackwall would zoom by us and the enemy and on over hill. Now I know what he's supposed to be doing. :P  It did take me a while to understand how to use that skill with my warrior, using KB & M.

don't take it to companions, Ai is bad with that skill, they will do same mistake u did, but they will do it until it gets patched, if Ai gets patched

I was wondering how Blackwall (the AI) knew how to use it correctly but apparently he (it) doesn't use it correctly.

On the PC, I use the jump key to make absolutely sure I stop using Charging Bull when I want to stop using Charging Bull.

This is why I just manually do this ability with the tactical cam.  It's nice too because you can instantly fling back with a movement ability like Combat Roll or Lunge and Slash exactly where you want.

Thanks for the replies. However, I'm on the PS4 and I still haven't been able to stop the charge into the countryside. Further thoughts about this on the PS4 would be greatly appreciated. BTW I always use the tac-cam.

I've tried many different ways to stop the charge into the countryside on the PS4 but no luck. I think that a lot of the suggestions apply to a PC game. Before I completely throw in the towel on a 2h build, is Charging Bull essential? I know that there have been a lot of complaints about the 2h build so there's no sense in my playing it without Charging Bull if it's essential.
Any further thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I removed the skill from all my tanks cause they'd use it but forget when to stop and charge off into the distance while the rest of the party gets turned into chutney. Also in Nightmare fight, my tank used CB and glitched into the terrain and was stuck there. After that in all subsequent playthroughs, I don't put CB on my tanks.

In tac cam it's a toggle skill even on consoles, once the character starts charging press the skill button again to stop. You can also cancel it by ordering them to use another skill mid-charge. That is for me on XBOX360 though, if for some reason neither of those work on PS4 then I guess it's just bugged :/

Which really sucks because applied properly it's one of the best skills in the game for warriors. Mobility, knockdown, damage, guard generation, very low stamina cost and cooldown, all wrapped into one skill. Definitely a bread and butter ability.

I'm on PS4 and I just tell them to Combat Roll or Lunge and Slash or something after they've knocked whoever over.

I dont like the ability at all.. i just click click once i get to my target, and never rlly know if i get guard or not.. By the time i turn around, its all lost anyway, so  to me, not a good ability for how hard it is to control...

Ally AI is so stupid they use it and never stop, leaving your party to get stomped...

I don't like it on AI controlled characters but on yourself it's magnificent once upgrade. An ability that essentially turns any ability in the game into a 5 stamina ability is godly. Charge in free wrath of heaven. Charge in free spell purge. Charge in free mighty blow, ETC, ETC, ETC. The guard build up and knock down is just a bonus for me.

Some people love this ability but I find myself rarely taking it with my warriors because it is an annoying toggle ability that can send you flying off the battlefield. Never put it on AI warriors because they will be useless with it.

Thanks WJC3688, you have solved the problem for me. The key was pressing the Charging Bull button again. That stopped the charge. Pressing any other button didn't do a thing.

One way I have had success with Charging Bull is when I'm fighting a dragon and the dragon flies to another spot. My warrior can use Charging Bull to get to the dragon quickly and since the dragon is so big, it does a really good job of stopping my action. The dragon is like a huge brick wall. Until I read the explanation of how it worked, that's about the only time I didn't go flying off into the sunset (or over a cliff).  :P

On my PS4 pressing the Charging Bull button again brings my PC to an very quick halt finally making the skill really useful to me. Right now I'm using it to move between multiple enemies and then hitting Whirlwind.

You can also use it to dodge through large enemies, such as dragons. Left hind leg reared to attack you? charge through to the other side.

Also if you use it within melee range you will hit the enemy directly in front of you twice, making it a 300% damage modifier when used correctly. The fact that it's an 8 second knockdown ability that also makes your next ability free and costs less than 20 mana usually while also generating guard is like wtf.

Easily the best active of the base warrior trees.

Agree entirely... if you use it manually.

The computer is absolutely useless at it. If you don't want to micro-manage, don't give it them.

It seems kind of odd that the AI enemy can fairly effectively use charging bull, but your AI companions are totally inept with it.
