Seriously, guys! I don't care if you put any work into it at all beyond simply making it work with modern hardware/operating systems. I don't need a full blown remake with ultra HD graphics and the game remade in another engine. I just want the game to WORK as it did originally, but on a newer OS at a modern resolution. PLEASE.

If I have to pay $50 for the new version... I don't care. If EA and Disney have to come to some agreement that involves the sacrifice of my first born to the gaming gods... I DON'T CARE! I just want to be able to reliably play one of my favorite games of all time without having to drag my dusty old Xbox out of the closet and not even having access to Yavin station...

PLEASE. I'm BEGGING you. Someone... ANYONE... make it happen!

For anyone who doesn't know... the game doesn't run well on modern PCs. You can usually make it work, but there are a plethora of issues, and widescreen resolutions are practically impossible to make work on some systems (especially concerning the Steam version).

Not to mention, a game of this caliber really should not be treated this way. Older games have been remade rather successfully (even the HD remake of Age of Empires 2 is pretty damn good)... I just want the game updated to work as it should on modern systems. I'd even pay full retail price to see this happen.

By the way, does anyone know if a Kickstarter has ever been made for something like this? Sort of like a glorified petition?

Kotor was the game that got me into RPG's and into bioware games. It pisses me off that they dont remake these i mean freakin metro 2033 and last light went to next gen and look great. why cant bioware do this i mean it will sell. And they should advertise it to people on xbox one and ps4 for people who did not play it.

Maybe they were a little busy making the new Dragon Age game and they're going to get right on it now.

HD graphics are desirable but not a precondition.

Their reputation for making good games is well and truly in the past… the current stuff coming from them has an entirely different reputation and it’s doubtful they would want (or get) the contract to improve an old kotor because they have nothing to gain from it and a lot to lose if they bugger it up.

Steam version is a pile of garbage, not updated to work with Windows 7 x64. It's pot luck whether it works for you or not.

I bought both KotOR's from GOG, having already got the Steam versions and never getting them running.

GOG's ran first time.

Well really, KotOR II was 2nd time because I installed it in KotOR folder, it didn't like sharing,

So 1st correct install worked fine.

GOG release is fully updated to work with modern systems and backed by a money back guarantee, if they can't get it to work on your PC.

Added to which it's DRM free, get from GOG, Mod it and you're good to go.

Don't know why the why  they won't re-release the game it would sell a lot

For one, they don't own the license to re-release it at their leisure. Their parent company is in an exclusivity deal with the company that does so it is possible, though not all that likely.

Two, a plain re-release of the existing game as is wouldn't pull in as many sales as you might think. Not while most people can still happily replay it on the older existing media whenever they want to. To draw in the kind of sales that would justify a full re-release they would have to do more than just port the existing code to a new console or OS. They would have to actually change it in some appreciable way. Update the graphics ala the Halo Anniversary edition games, add new content to be explored/played. Something to make it a different experience from the game as it is now.

Yes, you would buy a straight port of it brought to a new current console or OS. In all honesty, if they ported it as is to X1 I would buy it too at $20 or less just for the sake of convenience. Most people, if they already own it and have a console or OS that will play it still, wouldn't bother unless there was something new about it. Diehard fans like you (and to a slightly lesser extent me) who would pay out in a heartbeat for a whisper of this are only a vocal minority, though, and EA/Bioware know that

That's what I meant to say an hd remake like halo anniversary or fable anniversary. with the dlc included.

That actually would sell like crazy if they released it at, say, $40. Only the hardcore fans would be likely to pay out full price ($60). At $40 with the HD update it should be just low enough to pull in the mass fanbase.

Still, they need licensing permission from Disney to do it and I don't see EA jumping at the idea for an HD update to a game that old. Bioware might if the DA:I team wasn't fully assigned to a new project with it's release but they don't have free reign anymore. They need EA to sign off on projects and EA isn't that likely to sign off on sufficient support for anything that isn't a proven current moneymaker. Since SWTOR isn't raking it in the chances EA greenlights another Star Wars rpg for Bioware are pretty slim.

We can always hope, though. The team behind DA:I has to be put on some project or other. Unless they've already worked out a full plot for the next DA without even the slightest whisper slipping out I don't see it being the next DA game. Perhaps some of them are still on task with DA:I working on dlc (progressively unlikely as time passes with no mention of dlc) but a lot of them should be on something new soon if not already. We're at least E3 away from Bioware giving us any clues what that team is up to now DA:I is out, though. Unless they are working on full dlc for it and just keeping it hushed for some reason.

I really hope that if there is going to be a remake/HD update of KOTOR that it is done by anyone except bioware especially if they plan on adding extra content, bioware has well and truly proven that the talent that made KOTOR has long since either left or have been put in positions where they can no longer make the difference they used to.

A matter of opinion. They took a misstep releasing DA2 way prematurely and took a couple of regrettable short cuts with the plot of ME3 (deus ex machina and the overly shortened last 15 minutes). Those two things aside, and they are fairly small things, Bioware is still a superb developer producing stellar games and content. Those two minor issues aside Mass Effect 3 was a phenomenal game, one of their best ever. Dragon Age 2 was still a good game aside from the recycled environment and somewhat bottled nature of the story/game. Dragone Age: Inquisition is an excellent game and a huge leap towards greater potential for future games. I wouldn't have any issues whatsoever if Bioware was behind a future HD re-release of KOTOR, new content or not. They are still my favorite rpg developer and if DA:I is any indication they will be for a long while yet.
