And no, it’s not because she’s not-elfy elf. Let’s assume for the sake of reference that she’s at least early twenties. And I've brought these points up in some other threads

1)      She moved from Fereldan to Orlais – in particular, post-blight Denerim to Orlais. I imagine this would cost a great deal of money to pull off, even if she hitch-hiked all the way there. And, even if she had that sort of coin on her, how long ago, exactly, did she move from Denerim to Orlais? She mentions that Denerim was “no-fun” after the blight, so I imagine that she moved around that time frame – but she must have been like, 12 or so when the Blight happened.

2)      Taverns aren’t cheap either, especially if one LIVES in them. And since Red Jenny work doesn’t ALWAYS pay, one wonders, firstly, just how loaded Sera was when Lady Emmald (the “noble” that raised her) died. Sera DID say to Cassandra that she wasn’t “even near the bottom of what normal people live through”

3)      What happened that led Sera to the Red Jennys, exactly? What happened to the house that “noble” lived in? Did anybody know about Sera while she was living with the noble? Why did the noble choose an elf of all people to adopt and why did nobody find it strange that an elven child suddenly came under the care of a human noble? Wouldn’t it stand out that some elf inherited something from a noble, too? Why did Red Jennys even associate with her considering that she was just a kid at the time? I dunno about you, but if I were a crime master I wouldn’t trust a kid to keep their mouths shut about things.

4)      She likes dragons. Now pardon me, but it’s a bit weird that she hates darkspawn but not the big scary dragon part of it. Especially since this dragon was apparently so terrifying that even the Warden was like “oh crap” when it showed up. On top of that, it showed up in Denerim as well and did some major damage, if I’m remembering correctly. So, either Josephine is wrong and the real reason she doesn’t like darkspawn is because they look funny (which is commentary added in her codex), or she wasn’t in Denerim for that part in particular. And if the codex is wrong, how much of the codex can we trust, considering the large majority of it is based on observations?

5)      Speaking of the Codex: How the hell does she know when something is added to her codex? It would be a different story if it was messed with the first time, but she repeatedly does it, which means that she repeatedly looks at it, and why would she repeatedly look at it?

6)      Why is it that our spymaster with years of experience in spy work and expertise so great that not just one but two Divines, not to mention our ambassador who served an empire for years as well, couldn’t find anything on Sera, but Vivienne, who probably could give less than two shits about someone outside the court or someone irrelevant, somehow has gotten ahold of information on her, if this banter is anything to go by:

Sera: "I bet you left a trail."

Viv: "Whatever are you on about now dear?"

Sera: "What you use to be. Wherever you're from. Little People will know about you."

Viv: "We all have something we use to be, haven't we dear? Dumb things we would rather let die than have known? By all means, escalate, but I will answer in kind, armed with painful history I am sure is better left to your own sad memory."

Sera: "She's friggen evil she is."

7)      Let’s not get into her banter with Cole and Solas, like wow. She's got some weird magic going on there

8)      Sera claims not to remember her parents, so she was orphaned young. Okay. She was picked up by a noble when she was caught stealing. Okay. So, call me stupid, but I don’t think someone who was probably 4 years old when they were orphaned was so skilled at stealing that they managed to survive long enough to be caught robbing nobility. On top of that, how does someone like that even get robbed by a kid? How does anybody, really, considering that she must have been pretty young? A well trained guard not only would’ve been able to catch up with her, and even if she duck and hid, let’s face it, a guard would’ve had experience dealing with thieves to begin with and figured out where she was. Either Sera wasn’t just a gifted archer but a master thief at a young age, or those were some pretty incompetent guardsmen. (Then again, if it was Denerim, but at the same time, she robbed a noble.) However, she did deny that she was born in Denerim, at the very least (banter with Cassandra) so like. How did she GET to Denerim? Was she adopted in not-Denerim and THEN moved?

9)      Sera seems more scared of magic than normal people (like, what the hell Redcliffe, your entire town was overrun by zombies summoned by a mage, but you’re ALL okay with an army of them showing up and taking over the place? They literally used one of your huts to murder tranquil and clean their skulls out), and knows a couple of mages herself (prior to the Inquisition, according to her banter with Dorian), if I’m remembering a conversation tidbit correctly. Except. How the hell does she know any mages at all, considering that a normal person probably would’ve never encountered a mage unless they were apostates? (Granted, she new that one boy in Denerim, but does that really count as a mage?) Especially if she lived in Fereldan, which only has two circles, and one of them was in the SEA and the other was literally miles upon miles away in LAKE CALENHAD? And if she met them in Orlais, where, exactly? Vivienne seems to be a huge exception of someone who’s prominent in the court, and I think the Circles in Orlais would be uppity if their mages were engaged with prominent thieves/murderers like the Red Jennies.

10)   Swears she saw Leliana, and that she was familiar. I don’t buy that she saw her around in Denerim, because she doesn’t say that about Morrigan. At all. And I would think that Morrigan would stand a lot more than Leliana.

11)   Where does she get all her arrows? And no, not Dorian’s ass.

12)   What happens when Sera paints?!

There’s probably more little things out there, but like, this is the stuff I remember off the top of my head. God why can't we ask companions about these things

There are few theories about her pick one of two:

1)She is Amethyne, Iona's daughter(Amethyne would be same age as Sera now and explains whole orphan things)

2)She is Andruil the elven Goddess of hunt(this theory is if you are feeling more crazy)

So pick one that seems like most logical to you.

Except

1) In DAO, according to wiki:

Her daughter Amethyne may be be found in the Denerim Alienage during the Landsmeet segment of the campaign following the rescue of Queen Anora. There is no actual cinematic-scene dialogue, but she can be heard wondering when her mother will return from Highever.

2) Being an elven goddess doesn't really explain more than half these things, in fact it might just explain one in the vaguest sense. I'm sorry, but being a God isn't a paid business.

Holy crap. I read about Sera possibly being Amethyne in another thread earlier today, and ever since I've been trying to remember who the hell Amethyne was.  All I could come up with is she was the one who stayed with city elf warden's father back in the alienage (if you help her stay) while her folks went to Ostagar. I, uhh, couldn't remember her name either.

Now it all makes sense. Thank you, CherryLoveliesx3... Ahh, the lovely Iona. Fond memories of a few stolen hours before everything goes to hell.

She gets all of her arrows from the same place an archer Inquisitor does, I imagine.

If she DID, then why does Dorian even bother asking like it's the weirdest thing? ( I remember because it becomes this lulzy thing like "Maybe my ass should open up a shop" had me cracking up)

EDIT: Here's the convo tidbit:

Dorian: Where do you get all your arrows, Sera? You have...hundreds...

Sera: From your arse. That's where.

Dorian: My arse should open up a shop. It's apparently quite prolific.

Those theories are absurd.... and the only way they make any sense to me is, this;

Every time a character from DA:I has been evasive and touchy about certain subjects, they end up unleashing a giant can of worms on you.

On the Andruil conspiracy... if she really is Andruil, then she either 1.) Doesn't know or 2.) Has her suspicions, knows there's something different about her but is in denial about it and would rather shut it away, which would explain her two pet hates. Magic and Dalish culture.

I must admit, it'd be interesting. My character/s romance her so they'll be the understanding, supportive partner who loves her to death and will help her deal with it, no matter what. That's devotion.

Subspace pocket. Same place your companions go when you jump on your mount, same place your mount goes when you jump off it and copious amounts of arrows.

I think that was just the game winking at the player. It also happens when we meet Iron Bull's mercenaries. Bull complains about the taste of the potions only to be told that they are poultices and not supposed to be drunk (reference to Origins).

Cole does it too in a convo with Dorian. He says something about 'friendly fire'.

Again, Dorian points it out in banter, so it can't *just* be subspace pocket.

It's...just a playful nod to the fact that we have to employ reasonable suspension of disbelief to accept that gameplay mechanic as plausible.

Cole: It won't hurt me. It's friendly fire.

One day Andruil grew tired of hunting mortal men and beasts. She began stalking The Forgotten Ones, wicked things that thrive in the abyss. Yet even a god should not linger there, and each time she entered the Void, Andruil suffered longer and longer periods of madness after returning.

Andruil put on armor made of the Void, and all forgot her true face. She made weapons of darkness, and plague ate her lands. She howled things meant to be forgotten, and the other gods became fearful Andruil would hunt them in turn. So Mythal spread rumors of a monstrous creature and took the form of a great serpent, waiting for Andruil at the base of a mountain.

When Andruil came, Mythal sprang on the hunter. They fought for three day and nights, Andruil slashing deep gouges in the serpent's hide. But Mythal's magic sapped Andruil's strength, and stole her knowledge of how to find the Void. After this, the great hunter could never make her way back to the abyss, and peace returned.

How do you steal enough money to travel thousands of miles from a land that's been ravaged by the blight and therefore probably doesn't have that much coin on in it?

And I guess the arrow thing could be just a joke, doesn't really matter. The other stuffs still weird.

People seem to think that she is the little girl in Denerim behind the Red Jenny door when you deliver a package there, which would be nice :)

About Vivienne, I think she's just gloriously bluffing. She can read people very well and is using it against her.

Sera was taken in by a group of Red Jennies after Emmald's passing. It's likely that they fled to Orlais when the Blight happened or shortly after and they took her with them.

By stealing as you go? She has a bow. She could've just walked her ass to Orlais and hunted along the way. No the rhyme wasn't intentional.

I don't think Vivienne's the type to make empty threats like that.

Before or after they got the box the warden hands them?

And why would a criminal organisation take in a child? If you cared about them, you'd put them somewhere safe and stable, and if you were using them, then why were you using some kid and not someone who was older and had experience?

There's mountains between Orlais and Fereldan. It'd have been way easier for her just to go up to the Free Marches and **** with, I dunno, Kirkwall. She also hates nature, and given her personality do you really think she'd have put up with 3 months (or was it weeks? not sure how long Alistair said the wardens would take if they arrived from Orlais) worth of walking?

How the **** should i know? Sera doesn't make any ****** sense to me. But walking doesn't seem impossible. Neither does hoping on a boat to val royeux. She could've just been a stowaway on like any ship.

It  happened all the time in real life. Crooks would use kids to sneak into a house and open the door from inside so they could rob it. Small openings that would block an adult are no problem for a small child.

I don't think Sera would hold good opinions of people who would use her as a means to an end, much less join their organization and continue their work when she's moved to a completely different country.

Then again, I'd like to think that Red Jenny's are good side of the morality scale.

Sera lies. A lot. She should be in the dictionary as a the picture for an unreliable narrator.  If there is one thing I've learned from Bioware writing is there is a lot of unreliable sources.
