If damage on weapons isn't variant (i.e. doesn't have a damage range) then why is damage done variant?

For example, if a weapon has a damage range of 100-120 then you can expect to see varying damages done based on that range. But if a weapon has STATIC damage like 150 then damage done should always be singular. Barring variable bonuses like flanking, criticals and the like.

So, since damage is static... why do I see variant damage?

I presume its to do with enemy weakness i.e. if an enemy is weak to a certain element and your weapon currently has that element then they take more damage

Im assuming what trickshaw means is doing normal attacks (everything remains constant), and seeing damage values like: 360, 389, 378, etc.

As for a reason?  Im at a loss as to the mechanisms behind it.

Exactly this.

With static damage values you shouldn't see: 304, 311, 298, 297, 309 as a string of damage. You should instead see: 305, 305, 305, 305, 305. Again, barring damage multipliers (i.e. Criticals, flanking etc.).
