Does anything happen with your companion LI if they gain too much disapproval after the romance has begun?

Like, can they decide to break up if they disapprove too much?

The only characters I know who can break up with you are Solas and Sera. Solas's isn't an issue of approval. Sera's isn't really either, since it's more tied to a certain choice than the approval system in general.

I can only speak to Cassandra's, but I had done her romance when we had the conversation about her becoming Divine. I was as insulting and offensive as I could be, got 2-3 greatly disapproves and 2-3 disapproves, and nothing about the romance was affected.

The only thing I wonder is if Cass's approval is also somehow tied in with the election of the Divine, because I got Vivienne (who I had maxed out approval with) and not Cass, despite generally making decisions that were more in line with a Cass as divine playthrough.

Solas can actually break up with you at two points.  Early in the relationship, your actions in his personal quest can break off the romance.  And late in the relationship, it's not tied to approval.

This is good to know. I'm romancing Cassandra in my current playthrough and I don't want her to be the new divine.... mostly because she was the divine in my first game.

I've seen Dorian break up also...and you can punch him. It's a little awful to watch, actually.

Dorian can't stay on his feet after on measly little punch. At least Solas keeps his balance.

It irks me that the writers felt it necessary to make him that floored by that measly punch. I mean, come on. A necromancer and altus and he's downed by one punch? It makes no damn sense.

Maybe highly emotional moment can get him weak at the knees? He's not exactly the one who loves having his lover punch him.

Sure it does. It means he's not even trying to fight back or guard himself and is completely shocked. I don't know how this occurs, but given things I *do* know about him, I can only assume he'd be devastated.

It's still annoying that Solas remains standing and Dorian falls flat. IMO, it's like enabling the stereotype and that's what pisses me off about it.

In Dorian's defense he was probably drinking before the argument even took place.  And Solas is a demi God. He'll keep his balance on principle alone.

What kind of miserable, barbaric, sack of crap would punch Dorian? Or Solas for that matter?

Punching Dorian is cruel and horrible and I can't believe they included that option.

Punching Solas however is hilarious and oddly cathartic. I mean horrible. But those things too.

To be fair Solas is...well Solas. Him not being downed by a punch is fine. (I admit the way he grabs his cheek makes me lol)

Also I had to laugh at how Dorian just got downed. I heard this in my head.

I don't think it made Dorian look like a wilting flower. Is there any character that the Inquisitor punches that doesn't fall over? The only one I remember that stays standing [and doesn't immediately fight back] is Solas, and that's more of a nod to the fact that he's a lot stronger than he looks.

My dwarf Abaeni is totally going to punch Solas. Just because I'm angry that he broke Aithne's heart.

I punched Solas. It was awesome. Now he's my senpai so it's all good. Sometimes a good punch is needed to work things out. :D

Wait what?

I couldn't get enough disapproval with Solas til Wicked eyes and Wicked hearts and at that point I couldn't make it back.

HOw'd you get his crisis point and then raise his approval all the way back up?
