I did it very easily Ryzaki, I actually punched him and then triggered the romance. It's just easier if you get the punch scene earlier, so you have more chances to make up for it.

What I did was tho was found some of his shinies, helped people in the Hinterlands, and then disbanded the Wardens. After that I got his friend conversation and could ask him questions for all those sweet Slightly Approves and then I finally triggered his personal quest.

It irks me that the writers felt it necessary to make him that floored by that measly punch. I mean, come on. A necromancer and altus and he's downed by one punch? It makes no damn sense.

With my first IQ, I totally punched Solas, and honestly? It felt great. Like, "reload and do it again" great. Then "chuckle and watch YouTube vids of people punching Solas" great.

 

My current character likes him a little bit more than that.

No, I think that's intentional!  It's such a good way to get approval for him, I always joke that I'm indulging in his question kink. The problem is that if you punch him and he hates you, you can't actually access those conversations.

 

It's possible you can if you got his "let's hang out in the Haven Fade" before you punched him, but I didn't do that? All I know is, after I punched him, if I tried to talk to him he was like OH RIGHT LIKE IM GONNA TALK TO YOU, SO YOU CAN TRACK ME DOWN AND MURDER ME LATER PAH.

 

..which was hilarious because I could still flirt with him, and ended up in a conversation that went like:

 

Solas: The wardens are too much!
Me: I know, right! Don't worry though, bb, we will take care of it together.

Solas: It's been so long since I could trust someone, thank you, blush

Me: so...tell me about yourself....
Solas; HAH NO WAY I DONT TRUST YOU ONE BIT

I actually prefer the disapproval to approval romance with him, tbh, because it feels less of like you going 'WOW SOLAS YOUR'E SO RIGHT AND AMAZING' until he dumps your ass, and more of a give and take between two stubborn people, lmao.  Plus you actually get to question him and call him out on stuff, and then when he's finally like "you continue to surprise me" (when it triggers the Haven Fade scene), it feels way more meaningful. 

 

I mean, uh, I wouldn't' recommend everyone punch him necc? But it's definitely worth a playthrough on a romance, to at least hit that convo and then do the romance.

IKR. I want so many punch Solas options, like when he's all I KNOW MORE ABOUT DWARVES/QUNARI THAN YOU AND TRUST ME THEY SUCK OK.  Damn I love Solas so much but the PC dialogue options in his convos are so limited sometimes, it frustrates me.

 

But you can be pretty mean/angry to him in the break-up scene, or after it, right? I'm counting on that, lmao, pretty sure I saw some gifs of it on tumblr.  I actually hated the Solasmance at first, because it felt so uneven and unfair, but now that I'm playing it like this (they're both terrible to eachother becuase they're both so messed up but they find a genuine and fleeting connection they both grow from), I really like it. 

 

...I also had this character dump Blackwall and Cullen before she romanced Solas, so she's a bit of a monster and deserves it anyway, tbh, lmao. 

 

On another note, while looking through audio files, I seem to have found some lines that indicate Blackwall can leave you if you're romancing him and his approval is too low, but I don't know if it actually triggers in game since Blackwall thought my romancing dwarf was the bees knees, or it's just a relic of an old idea.

It's intentional? I thought it was a bug. They must really want players to have a good relationship with Solas.

I can't remember if I punched out and got to spam those options though so I think it's only if you didn't hit him, I had so many playthroughs with the same IQ. Some hated him all the way through, others befriended him early, and some had a hate/senpai thing going on which I admit is my favorite relationship between them, he even said he respected my IQ a great deal which actually made me feel bad for punching him in that play through.

 

I've only been playing male human nobles though. I do want to romance him, and knowing I still can after punching him is awesome.    I've also read that you can lock in Solas and Cullen at the same time and romance them both. I'm really interested in doing that if possible.

Oh that sounds fun! I'm going for "leaves a trail of broken hearts in her wake" with this Lav, but dating both sounds fun.

I hear re: playing the same character over and over (for me it's dwarf rogues), but it's so worth it to step outside that comfort zone and assault/bang a god 10/10 would recommend (uh if you're monstrous enough like me that punching him sounds hilarious and not awful)

Yeah, in my blind play through my Lavellan argued with Solas A LOT so the whole relationship worked for me. Otherwise the whole thing seems too creepy.

That video is pretty awesome, but I don't think anything can top seeing "your loss, a$$hole" as the summary text. XD

I had my dwarf punch Solas to get back at him for breaking Aithne's heart (parallel universes, ftw!) but I felt soooo guilty afterwards and I can't apologize for punching him which just sucks.

Also that Solas break up scene is the best. Way more satisfying than letting *him* be the one to walk off.

He wins all the fan polls I've seen, typically edging out Cassandra by a few points. Your need to be petty doesn't overwrite popular opinion.
